Hello, good evening. Welcome to your latest Met Office forecast. Well, it's all changed
00:05
after the weekend turning much colder across the whole of the U.K. At the moment, low pressure
00:10
sat to the southwest. We're drawing in warm air from the near continent. You can tell
00:14
that by the oranges across the whole of the U.K. There are temperatures well above average,
00:19
possibly around 20 Celsius for one or two spots. However, it is all changed next week.
00:25
The wind switched direction to a northerly direction and we see cold air filtering southwards.
00:31
Arctic air temperatures back down to where they should be, if not a little below across
00:35
northern parts of the U.K. with the risk of some wintry showers, particularly over the
00:39
higher ground. There are a few showers around this evening across some western parts of
00:43
the U.K., the far north as well, but these start to generally fizzle out as we head into
00:47
the early hours. And for most, it will be a dry night, clear skies and temperatures
00:53
as well, dipping in single figures. Again, not quite as cold as recent nights for many,
00:57
but we could get down to a freezing for one or two spots under the clearest skies. Some
01:02
mist and fog patches forming, particularly across northern England, parts of Scotland
01:06
as well under those light winds, staying breezy across the far southwest. So it means a sunny
01:11
start to the day for much of the U.K. on Sunday, breezy with some cloud across the far southwest.
01:17
The sunshine will be hazy at times as we go through Sunday itself. A weather front always
01:21
close by across the far north of Scotland, giving some patchy rain here. Any mist and
01:26
fog patches becoming restricted to coastal stretches of eastern Scotland and northeast
01:31
England and plenty of dry weather to come and winds generally light for many. Temperatures
01:37
once again rising well above average, 19, possibly 20 Celsius across northwest England,
01:42
perhaps north Wales for many getting towards the mid-teens. Still a little bit chillier
01:46
down some eastern coast with that easterly breeze coming off the North Sea and any places
01:51
stuck under any low cloud across the northeast here will struggle to get into double figures.
01:57
But the vast majority well above where we should be, 7 to 11 degrees generally at this
02:01
point in the year. So we head through the evening time. This weather front starts to
02:05
sink its way southwards. This is the change to things to come for next week as colder
02:10
air starts to filter in. Northerly winds developing, the rain turning to snow over the high ground
02:14
of Scotland. Not unusual for this time of year at all. Elsewhere generally clear skies,
02:20
some mist and fog patches forming but largely staying dry and temperatures once again falling
02:25
into single figures under the clearest skies, perhaps close to freezing. One or two seeing
02:29
a touch of frost but the vast majority temperatures holding up between 4 and 7 Celsius.
02:35
This weather front across Scotland continues to slowly push southwards through Monday introducing
02:40
that colder air. Wintry showers following behind, some sunny spells for northern Scotland
02:45
clouding over into Northern Ireland, Northern England as we move through the day. Southern
02:50
parts of England and Wales holding on to the sunshine for longest though turning cloudier
02:54
as the day goes on. Here the warm air still holding on, 16, 17 Celsius. But behind the
03:00
weather front much colder, 6, 7 degrees so feeling much chillier and actually temperatures
03:04
a little below average across northern Scotland by the afternoon on Monday. So it's all change
03:10
through next week as temperatures well above average at the moment but come Tuesday everywhere
03:15
struggling to get into double figures, generally 7 to 9 degrees. For more information on this
03:21
and the weather where you are for the next few days, you can follow us on our social
03:25
media channels. See you again soon.
