Hello, there. Welcome to your latest broadcast from the Met Office. We've seen some flooding
00:04
in places today, some very strong winds leading to disruption, all thanks to Storm Bert. And
00:09
Storm Bert only slowly starting to push away as we head through into Monday, just crossing
00:14
northern Scotland there. Still some strong winds possible, but just notice by Tuesday
00:19
the isobars start to widen out, the winds become lighter and we see something a little
00:24
bit more settled across many parts. But it is an unsettled picture out there, heavy rain
00:28
across central southern parts of England and Wales. Even where we see some dry interludes,
00:33
river levels continue to rise and we could see further flooding in places. Blustery showers
00:38
elsewhere frequent across parts of Northern Ireland, Scotland. Still, wind gusts here
00:43
of 50, 60 miles an hour. In between, we'll see some clear spells and temperatures generally
00:48
with a blustery night to come, holding up 6 to 9 Celsius across the board. This is where
00:53
they should be for daytime during this part of November. So a mixed start to Monday. Monday
00:59
is generally going to be a day of sunny spells and showers. Showers most frequent across
01:03
the north and west of the UK. Best of the drier, brighter weather towards central south-eastern
01:09
parts of England. Showers will be heavy, particularly across the north-west of the UK, turning to
01:15
snow over the higher ground of Scotland. And blustery here, still gusts of 40, 50 miles
01:19
an hour. Elsewhere, gusts still 30, locally 40 miles an hour, particularly around the
01:23
coast. So it will feel quite chilly by tomorrow afternoon. Some cooler air digging southwards,
01:28
so temperatures around 7 to 11 Celsius across the board, so lower compared to what we saw
01:35
through Sunday. Further showers through Monday evening, pushing their way eastwards. In between,
01:40
some clear spells developing. Longer spells of rain across northern Scotland, some snow
01:44
over the higher ground too. Still windy here as Storm Burt just pushes eastwards. And then
01:49
overnight, under clearing skies, it does turn quite chilly, lower than it has been of late.
01:54
Temperatures down to 3 or 4 Celsius, a little lower in the countryside. So patchy frost
01:59
for one or two first thing on Tuesday morning. Showers from the word go, though, across Scotland.
02:05
Some longer spells of rain. Showers across western parts as well. Through the English
02:08
Channel, we could see some showers, some longer spells of rain along the coast developing
02:12
as well. But generally through Tuesday, you can see the low pulling away. Plenty of sunny
02:18
spells to come, a scattering of showers and winds falling much lighter across many parts
02:23
and temperatures. On the cooler side, 7 to 11 Celsius, which is around average for the
02:28
time of year. So it is slowly settling down as we head towards Tuesday. Looking at the
02:34
week ahead, it generally stays mixed. We'll see some rain at times, particularly by the
02:39
middle of the week across Southern County. Something to keep an eye on. And then generally
02:44
temperatures near average for the time of year. If you'd like to keep up to date with
02:47
the weather where you are, you can follow us on our social media channels. See you again
02:52
soon.
