Hello there and welcome to your Thursday morning weather update from the Met Office. It's mild
00:05
and windy today. The winds have picked up overnight, even towards the south, so no problems
00:11
with visibility through this morning. We've lost that low cloud and also fog. At the same
00:15
time, this is a slow-moving weather front which could affect the Outer Hebrides as we
00:20
head through Thursday, eventually the western side of Northern Ireland. But the wind is
00:23
coming in from a mild direction, so temperatures well above average for this time of year right
00:27
the way through today. And it's a mild morning across much of Scotland, a fair amount of
00:31
cloud. That cloud could be low in places, causing poor visibility over the higher routes.
00:36
The wind continues to affect Northern Ireland through the first part of the day, and again,
00:40
fairly cloudy skies. That wind's also strong across Irish Sea coast. Now, further east,
00:45
you can see clearer skies to start today. And in fact, once the sun rises, it's going
00:50
to be a pleasant morning with some sunny spells. The cloud will break elsewhere as well. The
00:55
wind coming in from the south, we could see some breaks across the northeast of Scotland,
01:00
breaking up also across Northern Ireland, Northern England, Southern Scotland through
01:03
the day, northern parts of Wales. Hanging on to some brighter weather across eastern
01:06
counties and the cloud could thin elsewhere. However, through the afternoon, as the wind
01:12
eased just slightly, we will see that cloud and rain gaining some traction across the
01:16
Western Isles, pushing in across counties Tyrone as well as Fermanagh. And it could
01:20
turn heavy in places through evening time. Before that, though, look at these temperatures
01:24
15 or 16 across Scotland and Northern Ireland, 15 or 16 also for Wales. Northern England,
01:30
we could see an 18 down towards the southeast. And it will be a dry evening across the bulk
01:34
of England, central and eastern areas of Scotland. But the rain continues to make inroads eastwards.
01:40
So a wet evening across Northern Ireland, Western Scotland, that rain extending across
01:44
Wales, the West Country, central southern England towards the Midlands through the early
01:47
hours of tomorrow morning. And it could turn heavy. You can see these brighter echoes representing
01:52
some more intense downpours and the cloud and rain straddles north to south as it pushes
01:59
slowly eastwards with showers to follow through Friday towards the southwest. Hanging on to
02:03
some dry skies until later across eastern counties. This is a fairly narrow band of
02:07
rain, but showery always across Scotland as well as Northern Ireland. Temperatures down
02:11
a tad, so probably around 13 to 15 Celsius north to south. Outlook then through Saturday,
02:16
another batch of rain comes in from the north and west. We'll see some showers ahead of
02:20
it, but some fine and dry weather across southern counties of England and Wales. So
02:25
that's another area of low pressure. And in fact, through Saturday into Sunday, another
02:30
batch will move in. So rain never too far away as it pushes ever southeastwards. It
02:35
will weaken, but that does mean on Sunday we'll see rain further south. It could be
02:40
far, fairly patchy, hanging on to some brighter skies until later across the far southeast
02:45
and always showery further north as well as west. For more details of your 10 day trend
02:50
this week, it's with Alex Deakin. Check us out on YouTube. I'll see you later.
