Hello there. Welcome to your latest Met Office forecast. It's generally a warm picture across
00:06
the whole of the UK. If we look at the bigger picture, low pressure dominates Liberia at
00:12
the moment bringing unsettled weather to parts of Spain and Portugal in particular. But at
00:17
the same time, we've got south-easterly winds across the UK. So, it is drawing in this much
00:21
warmer air, temperatures well above average for the time of year. It remains that way
00:26
for the rest of the weekend. However, next week, it's all changed. High pressure builds
00:30
across Iceland and Greenland. We see northerly winds develop and pushes Arctic air southwards
00:36
across much of the country. So, by Tuesday, temperatures back down to average if not a
00:40
little below average with the risk of some wintry showers across parts of the north.
00:44
So, a real change is on the way. Here's a satellite picture and radar image from earlier
00:50
today. We do have some shower outbreaks of rain across the far southwest. This is starting
00:55
to weaken. A few showers elsewhere as well. But you can see plenty of dry weather, some
01:00
hazy spells of sunshine, best of the blue skies at the moment across the far east. And
01:04
as we go through Saturday afternoon into the evening time, very little change. Cloudier
01:09
skies for parts of Wales into the West Country, perhaps western parts of the Midlands, central,
01:13
southern England. The odd shower is possible, but plenty of dry weather, lots of sunshine.
01:19
Yes, it will be hazy at times, but many places dry. The odd shower possible for Northern
01:24
Ireland and parts of Scotland as well. A weather front close by across Northern Scotland
01:29
giving some showery outbreaks of rain to Orkney and Shetland in particular. Winds coming in
01:34
from the southeast, as I mentioned. So, a warm direction as the continent is warming
01:39
up at this time of year. 17, 18, possibly 19 Celsius across north Wales into northwest
01:44
England. A little chillier along some eastern coast with that breeze. And the southwest
01:48
as well, gusts here around 30 miles an hour. I might just take the edge off the temperatures
01:52
a little, but 7 to 11 Celsius is generally where we should be at this time of the year.
01:57
Through to the evening time, the odd shower is still possible, moving up from the south,
02:00
but many places dry. As we head into the early hours, winds generally fall light away from
02:05
the far southwest where it's still a little breezy. We could see some mist and fog patches
02:09
developing particularly across central, southern parts of Scotland into northeast England as
02:15
well, perhaps around the Moray Firth area as well. And this weather front also giving
02:18
some showering outbreaks of rain across the far north, but for many, a dry night to come.
02:22
Under the clear skies, temperatures dropping away just like we've seen the last few nights,
02:27
getting into single figures, perhaps close to freezing in one or two prone spots. The
02:31
west generally holding up 7 or 8 degrees Celsius to start Sunday morning. Plenty of sunshine,
02:37
so mist and fog across the east of Scotland, northeast Scotland, northeast England as well,
02:43
but this slowly burning back to the coast as we go through the morning. And then plenty
02:47
of sunshine, dry weather to come for the vast majority of the UK. The sunshine will be hazy
02:52
at times across the far southwest, but many places dry. The weather front still across
02:56
the far north of Scotland, parts of the Western Isles, the Highlands and Islands, just seeing
03:00
one or two splashes of rain, the most persistent rain likely across Shetland through the day
03:04
and winds generally light for all. In the sunshine, it will be another warm feeling
03:09
day for this time of year, 18, 19, possibly 20 Celsius towards northwest England, just
03:14
chillier along some eastern coast once more. And if you do get stuck under any low cloud
03:18
and fog, temperatures will struggle here to get into double figures. But for most, a brilliant
03:24
Sunday to come. Plenty of sunshine, the UV levels starting to rise a little as well.
03:29
So we're heading to the evening time. This is the start of the change. This weather front
03:33
just starts to slowly push its way southwards and that will push southwards through next
03:37
week, introducing that much colder air. So for the weekend, plenty of warm weather to
03:42
come, lots of sunshine for the vast majority, but turning much colder into next week. For
