00:0076 days after the summer elections, France finally has a new government, as unveiled

00:06by the Elysée's spokesperson on Saturday.

00:09There are no major surprises, but there are a lot of new faces.

00:13One of them is Bruno Retailleur.

00:15The head of the right-wing Republicans in France's Senate is set to be the new interior

00:20minister, which will be seen as a major success for the right.

00:25Elsewhere, Europe Minister Jean-Noël Barrault will take on the role of foreign minister.

00:30It's a major promotion for the 41-year-old, who's impressed with a series of media appearances.

00:36Another meteoric rise will see Antoine Armand, head of Parliament's Economic Affairs Commission,

00:41installed as finance minister.

00:44There was one slight surprise.

00:46Controversial Republican Laurence Garnier was predicted to be named as family minister.

00:51She's opposed both gay marriage and the inscription of the rights to abortion in the constitution.

00:55In a supposed last-minute change, she was demoted to secretary of state for consumer

01:00affairs.

01:01Prime Minister Michel Barnier had promised to include left-wing personalities in his

01:05government, but there's only one figure from the left.

01:08Didier Migaud has been named as minister for justice.

01:12Amongst all the new faces, there is Sébastien Lecornu.

01:15Staying on as defence minister, he's believed to enjoy a close relationship with President

01:20Emmanuel Macron.

01:22One notable name that won't be a part of the cabinet is former Interior Minister Gérald

01:26Darmanin, as the new government convenes for the very first time on Monday.
