A man has admitted killing 48 year old Georgina Dowey, but has denied murdering her, Swansea Crown court has heard. Matthew Pickering, 46 off Beaconsfield Street in Neath appeared via video link to plead guilty to manslaughter but not guilty to murder. He is set to face trial on 15th January 2024.

An investigation has been launched after the death of a solider at Sennybridge Training area on Wednesday 20th September. The cause of death is not yet know, but the family have been informed of the death. An army spokesperson said their thoughts are with the soldiers friends and family at this difficult time.

Monmouthshire has been named as the safest place to drive in Wales, according to statistics from One Sure Insurance. Monmouthshire had 136 collisions per billion miles drives, with Newport in second with 191 and Anglesey 3rd with 211. The statistics also show Wales is twice as safe to drive through as England.
