Wales headlines 8 September: St David’s Hall closed for concrete issues, UK’s first floating windfarm faces setback, heritage railway pay £36,000 for volunteer fall

St David’s Hall in the centre of Cardiff has been closed in relation to the ongoing concrete issues plaguing schools across the country. The venue will be closed for 4 weeks for tests for RAAC, with a number of acts like Alfie Boe, Europe and Daniel O’Donnell’s upcoming shows being cancelled.

Plans for the UK’s first ever floating wind farm will be pushed back by at least a year after the company behind the plans said funding from Westminster was too low. It was hoped the project would create 10 thousand jobs, but the UK government say inflation had presented challenges in funding.

A heritage railway in Carmarthen has been ordered to pay 36 thousand pounds after a volunteer fell from the roof of a train carriage. The Gwili Railway company was found to not have enough safety measures to prevent the fall, and now say they have made a number of changes to address its failings.
