Wales headlines 21 September: Cancer treatment times fall short, hospital closes wards due to RAAC, offshore windfarm gets green light
  • 7 months ago
Cancer treatment times in Wales have increased, but are still falling well below intended targets, according to recent NHS figures. 75% of cases should start treatment within 62 days of suspected cancer, but only 56.5% of cases currently hit targets. No Welsh health board has managed 75% since targets were set.

A hospital in Pembrokeshire has lost 50% of its bed spaces, after closures as part of the RAAC issues. Six of the 12 wards at Withybush Hospital will be closed until next year while other wards have to work around metal props keeping up sections of the building.

A new wind farm off the coast of north Wales has been given the go ahead by the UK government, and will provide enough energy for up to 500,000 homes according to its developers. Awel Y Mor wind farm will sit next to the Gwynt Y Mor farm, and will be one of the biggest providers of green energy in Wales.
