Ingredients:-
For the marination:-
1 kg chicken
¼ tsp. turmeric powder
1 tsp. salt

Paste 1 for marination:-
To be ground to a paste
2” ginger
10 cloves of garlic
½ bunch of coriander
5 spicy green chillies


Paste 2 for Xacuti Masala:-
1 tbsp oil
2 onions sliced
3 green chillies
1” ginger
5 cloves of garlic
1 coconut grated
½ a bunch of coriander

Paste 3 for Xacuti Masala:-
2” cinnamon
3 green cardamom pods
1 tsp. aniseeds
1 tsp. Black peppercorns
1 tbsp poppy seeds
1 tbsp coriander seeds
10 Kashmiri chillies
1 star anise
1 mace
¼ piece of nutmeg

For Finishing:-
2 tsp. Groundnut oil
2 onions sliced
3 green chillies slit
¼ cup water


Method:-
1. Add salt and turmeric powder to the chicken, add paste 1 and marinade for ½ an hour.
2. For paste 2 heat 1 tbsp oil and sauté the sliced onions, chillies, ginger and garlic for a few minutes.
3. Add the coconut and sauté for 7-10 minutes till the onions are crisp and grind to a fine paste along with the coriander.
4. To make paste 3 dry roast all the ingredients and mix with paste 2 ingredients and then grind to a fine paste.
5. Heat oil in a pan and add the onion and green chillies and sauté.
6. Then add the marinated chicken and sauté for 3-4 minutes.
7. Then add the ground paste and mix well.
8. Add some water and salt and cover and cook till the chicken is done.
9. Serve hot with rice or bread.
