00:00Hello and welcome to Manchester World. My name is Theo Houston-Betson. Today I'm out on the streets of Manchester
00:03talking to people about the violent protests that broke out around asylum hotels in the UK last week.
00:10Now, there were cases of violence and extreme hatred in those circumstances,
00:14and while some argue that the use of hotels to keep asylum seekers is not appropriate,
00:19many more have been pretty disappointed by the scenes that occurred last week.
00:24Violence is never an appropriate response, is it really?
00:26And if you think about the people that are in those hostels, I'm sure they would choose not to be there.
00:33It's the people that protest about court. We're all human beings.
00:38It don't make any difference what we are. We've all got noses, eyes, mouths and ears and hair.
00:45It's kind of thinking, well, how have they got here? What are they escaping from?
00:48Would you choose to make that journey with your children?
00:51So, yeah, violence is not the answer, I would say.
00:55And the government needs to step in a lot more, don't they? Really.
00:58Really.
