00:00Hello and welcome to Manchester World. My name is Theo Houston Betts. Today I'm out on the streets of Manchester talking to people about universities.
00:05And that's because we're now at the time of year where people will be leaving sixth form of colleges looking for their universities ahead of studies starting next year.
00:13They might be going through clearing. We want to know if people still think universities are the best way for young people to learn and become adults or whether they think apprenticeships could be the next best bet.
00:22Yes it is. They are. Definitely. Otherwise you have to spend many, many years learning trade.
00:28Yeah no I think I've been, a lot of our teachers in school definitely focus for us to go to like universities and college.
00:35Whereas I would kind of, I'm more towards an apprenticeship because I think I want to kind of earn some money earlier on so maybe I could like travel later on.
00:44So definitely for me I think apprenticeships is a way to go.
00:48They've got to earn a certain salary before they start paying it back haven't they?
00:51Yes.
00:52Come on. So my advice to my grandchildren was make sure you earn a penny less and you don't have to pay it back.
