We went down to the Hard Rock Cafe to have a look at some of their brilliant Oasis memorabilia ahead of the final Oasis gigs.
Transcript
00:00Hello and welcome to Manchester World. My name is Theo Houstonbets and we're back at Hard Rock Cafe.
00:04This time, instead of talking to them about some of their brilliant burgers, we're going to be talking to them about the amazing Oasis memorabilia
00:10they have in this very cafe because of the Oasis reunion gigs here in the city.
00:15So we're going to go in, we're going to talk to Nick, who's the assistant manager here, a little bit about what they've got and why it's so important.
00:21Yeah, the memorabilia that we've been blessed with is truly amazing.
00:24Not only do we have all the stuff on the walls, but we've been lucky enough to take delivery of an exclusive set of memorabilia from Manchester.
00:32This is going to be following the band on the tour around the UK. It's going to be going up to Edinburgh. It's going to be going down to London as well.
00:37Some of the exclusive pieces that you can see here in the cafe of Manchester.
00:40We've got a Noel Gallagher guitar that was used in the studios during the Definitely Maybe and What's the Story Morning Globe Malvern recordings.
00:47We have two sets of handwritten lyrics by Noel Gallagher.
00:49One is for the Be Here Now record and the second is for the What's the Story Morning Glory single.
00:55We also have a shirt worn by Noel Gallagher in the 1990s.
00:59We also have a sugar jar, which is a prop used on the inside cover of the What's the Story Morning Glory album cover.
01:04Away from the exclusive memorabilia, the memorabilia we have from Oasis all year round on our walls.
01:09We have a white suit worn by Liam Gallagher in the video for All Around the World, single back in the 90s.
01:16We have a set list from a show in Portugal.
01:20We also have a guitar used on the Be Here Now tour and the studio recordings played by Noel Gallagher and some signed pictures of the guys as well.
01:26The piece that I'm most excited about and that we're all most excited to have in the cafe is a one of a kind.
01:32It is a framed Definitely Maybe print drawn by Brian Cannon, who designed the Definitely Maybe and What's the Story Morning Glory album covers.
01:41This is a one of one print, so we are auctioning this off for Billy and Andy's Music School, which is a local charity here in Manchester,
01:47which runs music workshops and gives musical instruments to children who have suffered with disabilities.
01:52Looks after them well, we've done a lot of work with them in the last 12 months, we've helped out with their concerts,
01:57and this is a wonderful, wonderful cause.
01:59So this definitely Maybe artwork is being auctioned off this weekend during our final Oasis pre-show party,
02:05and the winner will be able to take away that amazing piece of individual memorabilia.
02:08It makes total sense to have one here in the city.
02:11Manchester's music culture is enormous, spanning all the way back to the 1960s,
02:16the big Manchester explosion in the 90s, bands like Oasis, the Stone Roses, the Happy Mondays,
02:23gave us the city culture that we have today.
02:25The fact that the boys have come home this summer to do their homecoming gigs just means everyone's excited.
02:30The city is absolutely buzzing.
02:32Everywhere you go, you see Oasis posters, T-shirts, the hats.
02:36What more do you want for?
02:38And then you come in here and you can see the memo, you can see the burgers we offer, the stuff on the walls.
02:43Amazing.
02:44So there we have it.
02:45Thank you very much for watching.
02:46It's amazing some of the stuff that they've got in there,
02:48and if you do have the opportunity to come down ahead of the two gigs this weekend,
02:51it's definitely worth a visit.
02:53But that's all for now.
02:53Thank you very much for watching, and we'll see you again soon at Manchester World.
02:56Thank you very much.
