00:00Hello and welcome to Manchester World. My name is Theo Hewson-Betz and it's another great week here in Manchester.
00:05So there's lots of fun things to get stuck into, so we're going to have a look at some of the best activities and events going on in the region this week.
00:12We're going to start with a new exhibit over at Manchester Museum where you can step into a new world full of imagination and curiosity with the cat that's slept for a thousand years.
00:21The exhibit has been put together alongside Air Giants, a robotics company, and it combines education with theatre and much more.
00:28There is a 10 meet at Long Sleepy Cat, so for those who are afraid of our feline companions, it could be perfect for helping you to get over it.
00:36Now Quentin Blake and Me has opened over at the Lowry. The exhibition is completely free and should provide a pleasant hit of nostalgia for parents who grew up on the books of Roald Dahl,
00:46as well as offering a real learning experience for the kids who love art. It opened this Monday and is on over the course of the whole summer,
00:52so there's really no excuse at all for not getting over there and giving it a try.
00:55The Great Summer Social 2025 is on at Cheshire Oaks Designer Outlet, with the event proving a massive hit this time last year.
01:03There are a bunch of retail offers and promotions for people to take advantage of, as well as a big wheel, mini golf, a big screen, DJs and a whole host of food and drink vendors.
01:12Over to Chester Zoo now, and the much-loved Afterglow offering is back and it truly sounds amazing.
01:17It's an opportunity to head down to the zoo after hours, specifically during the golden hour, which is when most of the animals are at their most active.
01:24It's only running until mid-August, so you'll have to get your tickets booked early, but it sounds like a lot of fun.
01:29Finally, the East Lancashire Railway are offering a day out with Thomas the Tank Engine over the course of this weekend,
01:35with a 45-minute ride through the Greater Manchester countryside promised on one of the most famous trains in history.
01:39There's an awesome range of things there, so get down to everything that you possibly can and follow Manchester World for more.
