Transcript
00:00Hello and welcome to Manchester World. My name is Theo Hewson-Betz and today we're going to be talking about some of the amazing cultural things that you should be eyeing up over the next week or so in this wonderful region of ours.
00:10We're going to start at the Kimpton Clock Tower Hotel where a new free exhibition has been opened to allow visitors to explore the amazing history of the former Refuge Assurance building, which is now the Clock Tower Hotel.
00:20The exhibition is called Clocking Manchester, 130 years in the city's evolving skyline and it's seen the walls of the hotel's aptly named Refuge Bar turn into a walk through the history of this city from the skies.
00:32It starts back when the Refuge Assurance building was opened back in 1895, right forward to this year. It's a brilliant experience and definitely worth a visit.
00:39And while we're talking about history, artists in the region have the opportunity to make it this Friday as Art Battle MCR makes its way to the Stretford Mall.
00:45It's an all-action, intense and energetic live art event which will see 10 amazing artists battle it out over a half hour to create something amazing in front of a live audience.
00:54There'll be painters, street artists, tattoo artists even and it looks absolutely amazing and gives the opportunity to take a look around the brilliant Stretford Mall after hours as well.
01:03On to the weekend now and Presswich Pride is hosting a brilliant event to celebrate Pride Month with a queer comedy night at Icons this Friday.
01:09It's the second such event and the line-up is filled with some brilliant local comedians.
01:13It's going to be hosted by Bruce Devlin with Josh Jones, Hayley Ellis and Brennan Rees all performing in front of what I'm sure will be a raucous crowd.
01:20The gig is raising money for Rainbow Noir, the George House Trust and Trans Mutual Aid.
01:25It's going to be a brilliant night and all the better for the fact that you'll be helping out some brilliant causes.
01:30Finally, Your Ermston Matters or Yum is back in Ermston this Saturday.
01:33It's an awesome independent food and drink festival and absolutely you should be getting down there.
