02:02A lot de talk about o start daquele monstro pro circuito Kawasaki.
02:07Ele ainda não solte isso aqui.
02:10Vamos ver se o Kitchin pode ir ao o 22.
02:12Ele já tinha um velho, ele já tinha um velho.
02:18E aí a gente vai ver o que é isso aí.
02:48I spoke to Levi, and he feels confident he has the pace to run with Hay and Deegan.
02:53You go back a couple races ago where Levi was the fastest one on the racetrack,
02:57a lot of these motos, so for him, it's hard to get that early lap speed
03:00when you're in the back of the pack.
03:01You don't got that clean air, so it's a pretty decent start for him.
03:06And he's battling with Benek, and then here's Deegan putting the pressure on Swole,
03:09picking up where he left off.
03:11He whole shot and led on lap one at Washougal, then crashed,
03:15and then that was the end of his day.
03:16He wanted to stay out there, but the A of A actually black flagged and pulled him out.
03:21Had a week off, like everybody else, and obviously looks healed up and rested right now.
03:27Yeah, good to see Jalik back.
03:30Now Levi's got a round, Daxton Bennett, so he's following the number one up.
03:33He knows how important that is, and ahead of those guys,
03:36Joe Shimoda's four and a half seconds ahead of all of them.
03:39So let's see how Hayden plays this.
03:42Does he take consideration at points league?
03:44We know how strong Hayden is as he can make the pass around Jalik.
03:47Oh, no.
03:48Jalik got it back.
03:49Yeah.
03:50Yep.
03:50Earlier today, they were jumping all the way.
03:52At least Hayden was jumping all the way into that dip,
03:54so probably won't do it now with the track conditions.
03:59Deegan in the sand rollers, trying to get Swole, switches to the inside.
04:02And then right here to the finish line we go.
04:05Deegan going to try again, and it worked.
04:08Yeah, a little surprised.
04:09Jalik went out on the outside right there.
04:10Maybe just missed his mark, but costly pass.
04:13Now he slides down to third, and he's going to have Levi behind him as well.
04:16And Shimoda, 5.7 seconds the gap.
04:21And there you see what Deegan has to work with.
04:24Yeah, it's still early in the race.
04:26It's hot out.
04:27We know how strong both these guys are.
04:28So it should be a good part of the moto.
04:31And I have to say, if anything, the struggle for Joe is these early parts of the races.
04:35So for him being out here, that gives him a lot of confidence moving forward
04:38because we know how strong he is at the end.
04:41Yeah, that's the thing with Shimoda.
04:43Always ends the races and ends the season strong.
04:46This year, trying to show a little bit more early on the opening round of Monster Energy
04:50Supercross back at Anaheim.
04:52And the start in this moto and those early laps, darn impressive.
04:57Get an idea if Deegan can close.
04:59And his average lap one for Shimoda is a 10.2.
05:06Oh, no, Pierce Brown, another rider returning from injury.
05:09He has gone down.
05:10Now back up.
05:11Set it down to JT.
05:13Thank you, Jason.
05:14And, well, for Hayden Deegan, it's really hard to ignore that there's been a big momentum shift.
05:18And, yes, the injury was really the catalyst for that.
05:21When he went down at Redbud, it really felt like the door opened for everyone else.
05:25And Joe Shimoda is the one that walked through it
05:27and had that rear brake not gone out for him at Spring Creek,
05:30we could be looking at a three-race win streak for Joe Shimoda.
05:33So coming off the brake, that was, I think, the main question.
05:37Was it a permanent momentum shift, or would Hayden coming in healthy
05:40be able to reclaim the status that he had early in the season
05:43where he was the clear-cut guy?
05:45Now, we have an opportunity to answer that question,
05:47but so far I think Shimoda's making a statement here pulling out this lead.
05:51Yeah, and I would say even though Hayden lost those two overalls to Joe,
05:56I still think Hayden was the fastest rider.
05:58And so if I'm Hayden, I still have that confidence.
06:00He was injured.
06:01Joe was – the difference to me, Joe's just been more consistent
06:04as he gets better at the end of the season.
06:07So he wasn't making those mistakes going, you know, 1-7 or whatnot.
06:11So he's more consistent.
06:12But Hayden was always the fastest.
06:13So I don't think he's worried about just getting that speed back.
06:16But he just knows Joe has that confidence
06:18and we can see what's happening.
06:20Kind of surprised to see Levi going the other way.
06:22Tom Vial, who's also back from injury, makes the pass around the outside.
06:28Oh, Kitchin not quite going to give him the inside.
06:31He finally has to yield.
06:33And Vial moves up.
06:34Yeah, if Levi watched last year's race, he knows Tom –
06:37especially in that corner, Tom will lean on anybody.
06:40He did that to Hayden last year.
06:42So good to see the number 16 back.
06:44It's been a struggle for him this pro motocross season.
06:47So see if he can wrap this thing up for the playoffs.
06:51So he's up to fourth.
06:52Swole holding his own here in third with the power players of this class.
06:57Swole only came back from injury about midway through after a torn Achilles.
07:01And he's hanging with them right now.
07:03Had a podium earlier in the year.
07:05So he has been a revelation since coming back.
07:07The gap, it was 5.7 between Shimoda and Deegan, and it remains just about that.
07:14Maybe a few tenths better for Deegan, but he's not making up ground in chunks.
07:19Yeah, he's not really losing time as well.
07:21I think a lot of that came from Joe having that hole shot going through those shadows
07:25because we saw that gap was four and a half seconds the first lap.
07:27So it's been about five seconds after Hayden had to get around a couple riders.
07:31So that gap is going to stabilize.
07:33I'm sure it's probably going to close up as this race goes on.
07:37And the starts have really been a key for Shimoda.
07:40He was riding great really all season.
07:42He was the closest to Deegan early in the year.
07:44And then the starts fell off, and the results followed.
07:47Since he has moved back to the front early,
07:50well, the results obviously have been talking about having great.
07:54Shimoda actually, his deal was up.
07:56Hasn't said much about it at the end of this year.
07:58He's a free agent.
07:59I just can't imagine why he and Honda wouldn't feel like this is a combination
08:03that's working for both sides.
08:05But nothing is signed as far as I know yet.
08:08Yeah, I'd be surprised if that doesn't happen,
08:10and especially the bike changes and improvement they made.
08:13Joe's finally comfortable on that Honda,
08:15so probably going to see the best of Joe Shimoda moving forward.
08:19And with Hayden Deegan moving up,
08:20Joe probably is that guy that you would look at next year.
08:24You've got a couple of rookies that was injured this year.
08:26It's going to be strong.
08:27But so far, so good for the number 30 HRC Honda.
08:30Yeah, and don't forget, we mentioned the 45-point gap,
08:35but that will, for the most part, reset even if Deegan wins his title.
08:38The playoffs loom, and Shimoda and Deegan went at it
08:42in the first World Championship SMX season of 2023.
08:47Could be a rematch this year.
08:49Biao, on the Red Bull KTM, he has caught and swole for third.
08:52Yeah, you can see the gap that these guys have lost to Hayden and Joe.
08:57They're about 12, 13 seconds behind it,
08:59but Jalik's riding really good, holding his arm,
09:03and Tom, for coming off that injury again,
09:06the season hasn't been where he wants,
09:08so I'm sure this is going to be a good confidence booster
09:09if he can just continue moving up,
09:11maybe get on this podium for this moto.
09:15And so he snaked their way into the trees.
09:17We sent it back down to Katie.
09:19One thing to note about that Achilles injury earlier today
09:21and qualifying, I just talked to the team manager, Skuba,
09:24and he was saying how Jalik may have moved some scar tissue
09:27in his Achilles in that qualifying session,
09:29and that's actually why he did pull off track there.
09:32Bike is good, he said, but the break was exceptionally good for his body.
09:36What was good, that pass by Tom Biao right there up the inside,
09:39just de-boated his way up there.
09:42I like the aggressiveness I see from Tom, you know,
09:44when he leaned down on Levi and even just moving his way up,
09:47so good for him.
09:48It's going to be a hard, hard ask for him to catch up to Hayden
09:52and Joe losing that time that he has,
09:54but still a good rod right now coming off the injury,
09:56being a running third.
09:58Meanwhile, Deegan has done it.
09:59He has taken a little bit of time.
10:01Anishimoto's lead about nine-tenths,
10:03closer than where he was two laps ago.
10:07Catch up with March Banks, who has been catching up all year.
10:10Wow!
10:10Power move around the outside of Max Boland,
10:13but yet again, March Banks having to make tracks from the back.
10:18The starts have not been there, but the results have been.
10:20He's actually third in the championship,
10:23and that was his first ever career overall last time out at Washougal.
10:29So everything except the starts are trending for the 36.
10:31Yeah, I'm surprised.
10:32I thought they were a little bit farther up than what they were off the start,
10:35but that wood section and not being able to see maybe something happen to Garrett
10:38because him and his teammate, our fastest qualifier, are really far back.
10:43So we see how it goes, but this is what Garrett's been doing all year long.
10:46You know, super fast, really consistent, strong at the end of the races,
10:49but he can't compete for that lead because he's always making passes
10:52and coming from the back.
10:53Yeah, I talked to him yesterday, even clarified.
10:55I said, didn't you have one good start, like round one of Hallie?
10:58He's like, no.
10:58There hasn't been a single one.
11:00This year it's good.
11:01We talked about him going past the 100 mark of passes made.
11:05This year, that was a few weeks ago, probably like 130-ish at this point.
11:10150 passes made.
11:12Somebody's down there and send it to Katie in a minute.
11:14Katie, what do you got?
11:15We're going to try to figure out who just tipped over.
11:16Go ahead.
11:17Yeah, earlier, Garrett Marshmakes has passed 147 people up until this race.
11:22Today, I can't even fathom what that's like.
11:24I was talking to Mitch Pinkett about Garrett Marshmakes
11:27and what he brings to the table.
11:28He said, weight-wise, we do know it's a disadvantage for those starts.
11:32He did have the tall blocks for his start, though, today,
11:34and earlier thought it would help, but obviously didn't help with this moto.
11:38Meanwhile, Mitch did say, though, his advantage is his fitness.
11:40It is what we are seeing.
11:42He's still good.
11:42He's still moving up.
11:44He's not getting tired, and that is a plus for Garrett Marshmakes.
11:47Yeah, and a day like today is going to really help him.
11:50I mean, he's already up in the sixth, only a couple seconds.
11:52You can see Levi right in front of him, so he has an opportunity.
11:55But Garrett, his pace, I believe he can actually win one of these races.
11:59He gets in there and be able to fight.
12:01He's probably strong enough to be able to do it,
12:04but he can't be starting from the back.
12:06I mean, you already see almost 30 seconds back behind these guys.
12:08And 17th was the start in this one.
12:11He now has Swole in his sights.
12:14That would be fourth.
12:15That was Levi we saw fall.
12:16Oh!
12:17He's seen what the time is going to drop it down.
12:19And then we mentioned that Pierce Brown went down.
12:22He's in this shot right here on the number 20, gaggle of Yamahas.
12:26And that's further back, trying to figure out what spot that is for Brown.
12:33And then Bannock, who had a good start, he is back to 24th.
12:36That was actually the very back of the pack.
12:38Pierce Brown is 39th.
12:40Avery Long is 40th.
12:43As we check in with Beaumare, hit his head in a crash at high point.
12:47Didn't realize how bad it was.
12:50Wasn't quite a concussion, but didn't feel right at the next couple of races.
12:54He got 16th at Redwood.
12:55And he said, you know what?
12:56Something is not right here.
12:58I need time off.
12:59And now he's going after Lux Turner in his return from Racing Turner.
13:05Actually, Beaumare was up there early.
13:07This is actually for 15th.
13:08So these are two riders that started up front.
13:09They're still battling, but about 10 positions further back than they were on lap one.
13:14Yeah, well, do you have trouble this team before?
13:16He's just always making his way around Lux.
13:19But, yeah, I know Julian wants to be better in this.
13:22But that just shows you how deep this field is, especially when these guys are, how many guys are coming back.
13:28So with this battle now, with the kitchen going down, it's these two swollen march bags for fourth.
13:34Teagan has actually lost some ground to Shimoda.
13:37It's back to 6.4.
13:39Yeah, Joe is looking a little bit more comfortable out front.
13:42Just ran his 2.05 to Hayden's 2.06 that last lap.
13:46So got that.
13:47And now Garrett's making his way.
13:49Hopefully, if he can get around Jalik, he might have a chance to go out to Tom Bial.
13:52Because Tom's only a few seconds in front of him.
13:54And we know how strong Garrett is.
13:56And with Tom missing that time, Garrett might have a chance to go to get that third place, this moto.
14:02Swole getting a little crafty, I'm going to call it, going up that hill.
14:05He swelled up on him.
14:06He just saw it happen when Tom got around him.
14:10So he's going to let that happen again.
14:11Nope.
14:11Blocking March Banks.
14:13So March Banks has to put the attack on again.
14:15The rider out of Utah.
14:16It's the rider from Florida.
14:18Another attack.
14:20Yeah, Jalik ain't about that life right there to go around.
14:22But he knows.
14:23Now, I noticed this year they put a burn on outside.
14:26Guys couldn't actually bank off that.
14:27Years past, they wouldn't have been able to do that.
14:30So Garrett's marching his way up for sure.
14:33And that's what he does.
14:36March Banks.
14:37Again, third of the championship.
14:38Probably underrated because you don't see him battling for the lead.
14:43But the big man from Utah riding well.
14:46I don't know if he can get any further forward than this.
14:48Let's check in with the fast qualifier.
14:50That is Handmaker on the 56th.
14:53Battling rider de Francisco.
14:55But this is for 12th.
14:58Yeah, and that's hard when you think about Seth.
15:01You know, he was your fastest qualifier.
15:02He said he felt good, felt refreshed coming in here.
15:05But now, you know, he's battling for where we're at right now.
15:08He's 12th place, 13th right now.
15:12Yeah, so the results, I'm going to say, how he's been riding.
15:15But nice move by him, getting up.
15:19Roder de Francisco.
15:19Yeah, Roder de.
15:21I was thinking that was Lux, but he already got around him.
15:24Yeah, so the star's not there for that pro circuit team.
15:26I know they've been trying a ton of different things.
15:28It's a different engine in that motorcycle this year compared to last year.
15:32And just like that, we've reached the halfway point of this moto.
15:37Reminder that Monster Energy is available now.
15:41Deegan.
15:42The gap is seven seconds between himself and Shimoda.
15:46So Joe has answered the call, at least in the first half.
15:51We'll see if it changes later in this race.
15:53Check back in with Bolin.
15:54He's been solid eighth in the championship for Bolin on the Muckoff FXR Club MX Yamaha.
15:59That's the top non-factory rider.
16:02They do get help from Yamaha.
16:03They get bikes.
16:04They just don't get all the factory parts.
16:06Oh, he's battling it out.
16:07This is the 107.
16:08He's been great all year.
16:10Mick O'Hara.
16:11And that section is going to get so difficult.
16:13You can see that bike dancing around.
16:16You're talking about another rider.
16:18Mick O'Hara riding really good this year.
16:20Breaking out on the triumph.
16:21Got Jordan Smith right in front of him.
16:23But nice fight.
16:25Yeah.
16:26Back and forth they go.
16:27Yeah.
16:28And finally, it looks like Haram able to make the pass.
16:31And yes, Jordan Smith, teammate of the triumph on the head.
16:35Yeah, you got three triumphs in a row.
16:37We've got Jalik Swole, George Smith, and then Mika Haram.
16:40So triumph doing what they have been these last few races all year.
16:44This improvement.
16:46Battle of the teammates.
16:49You see that a lot.
16:50The bikes, it's like they come in waves.
16:53So we got three triumphs, 56, 57.
16:56You see that with the Kawasaki guys.
16:59And Haram now might put an attack on Smith.
17:02Yeah, well, usually you don't because normally you got their teammates.
17:05Somebody's out, her.
17:06So when you have them in waves like that, they're all pretty close.
17:10They just showed you how healthy everybody is.
17:12And you really are going to have a three-way battle for teammates in a moment.
17:17It's been great to have Haram here this summer.
17:18The Danish rider who aged out of 250 racing in Europe at MXGP.
17:24They have a 23-year-old cap.
17:26Supposed to race a triumph 450 in MXGP, but the bike wasn't ready.
17:30So he said, hey, you want to spend a summer in the United States.
17:34It's been great to have him here, Katie.
17:35Yeah, it absolutely has.
17:36And talking to the scoop of the team manager over there, Triumph, he actually said this was supposed to be a one-and-done season for Mikkel.
17:42And they thought he was going to come, learn some things, take it back to Denmark.
17:45But with how well he's done, how he's shown up, how he's learned the tracks, how comfortable he's been on the bike,
17:51there obviously are very much reconsidering things.
17:53Oh.
17:53And in fact, talking about being here in the States, he said on his vacation time over the last couple weeks,
17:59he went to Clearwater, Florida, and he said he was very surprised with how vacation-like it was.
18:04He said people in the States seem to work so hard, and they're always working, but he was stoked because he really felt like he was actually on vacation.
18:11Oh, wow.
18:12Okay, so he already wanted to stay before he got the vacation.
18:14Nobody did that.
18:16That might just seal the deal.
18:18Yeah.
18:18That was being here.
18:19No, and I think they probably should look at maybe putting him on a 450 next year.
18:23He's a bigger rider.
18:24He is.
18:24And, yeah, he's impressed a lot of these guys.
18:26So we went to Clearwater, Florida, realized how clear water was.
18:30It's like on vacation out here.
18:32Back to business, though, because he has caught Smith.
18:35This is a rare good start in motocross for Jordan Smith.
18:38Honestly, one of the hottest things.
18:39He's supercrossed as a good starter.
18:41In motocross, he is not.
18:43And he's been just waiting for his opportunity to run toward the front.
18:46He's doing it right now on the 19, JT.
18:49Yeah, just, you know, James mentioned that 450, and I think that's been the plan.
18:53You know, Triumph has been working to get this 450 out, and the race team to follow with
18:57the 450, and you mentioned there the size.
19:00Everything makes sense for Mikkel Harv.
19:02He really just didn't have any place to go while that 450 was still in development.
19:05So it could be one of those things where opportunity needs necessity, and it sets up perfectly for
19:10Mikkel and the 450 program moving forward.
19:12And more trips to Clearwater, if that works out.
19:15And he's about to earn one.
19:16Trying to make the move on the outside of Smith.
19:19Yeah, and as I said, the lap before, you're going to have a three-way battle.
19:22Oh, yeah.
19:23There you go.
19:24Poster shoot.
19:24Yeah.
19:25Jordan Smith almost made the move on Swole.
19:27These guys probably got to put in the fastest laps of the race.
19:31You know, when you get around your teammate, they all want to battle.
19:34Look at this fight.
19:36Three wide with the triumphs right now.
19:38Smith got the pass on Swole.
19:41He's in fifth.
19:42Yeah, Jalik looks back.
19:43Another teammate.
19:47It's going to be tough on Jalik right now.
19:48Now, Jalik comes back from the Achilles.
19:50He actually did tour that UCL.
19:53The ligament in his stomach has not been able to ride as much during the week as he would like.
19:57And he just got zapped real quick.
19:59I don't know if that's the factor or not.
20:01But Smith and Harrop are by.
20:03Yeah, you probably have to think that has something to do with the last couple of injuries.
20:06Because when Jalik came back, he's been pretty strong throughout both these motos.
20:09And it's hot out here today.
20:11But at the same time, not hugely different than the last few races on somebody.
20:16So Jalik's struggling with something going on.
20:19It's not normal for him.
20:20But nonetheless, still a top ten at the moment.
20:23Smith's like, man, I did it.
20:24I got around the guy.
20:26That's surely going to help.
20:27Nope.
20:27He's still got Harrop right behind him.
20:30And now Harrop goes to the pass.
20:33See what happens here.
20:34Southside is a long way around.
20:36But sometimes you get stuck in this run right here.
20:38See Jordan get down and get towards the inside.
20:40It looks like his teammate got him.
20:43Yes, he does.
20:45That was a dino test for the team.
20:47That uphill, both bikes wide open together.
20:49Mickle Harrop doing it again.
20:51Up to fifth.
20:54Most of the usual suspects in this group.
20:56These have really been.
20:57And I've got to put Harrop in that group.
20:59They've kind of been the fast guys all year.
21:01That'll push Smith back to six, Katie.
21:03Yeah, the number 19 of Jordan Smith.
21:05He said he was actually a huge fan of that break and needed it more than he thought.
21:09He was expecting to get on the bike and ride quite a bit.
21:13He said he only rode one time during the whole break because he went on a beach vacation and then he got sick, in fact.
21:18So coming out here swinging, he didn't know what to expect having had a couple of weeks off.
21:22But I wanted to speak a little bit about the Triumph Racing team and talking to Jalik about that.
21:26He said it is really important to have these guys out here.
21:29Remember, last year, Jalik was kind of running solo and he didn't have anybody to debrief with, no one to talk about the bike with.
21:35And having a couple of teammates now who are all doing well within the series, it really helps elevate the game for everybody's Triumph.
21:43Oh, no.
21:44Pierce Brown, thanks for the report, Katie, who is coming back from injury.
21:49A bad one.
21:50Broken vertebrae back in Tampa.
21:52And now he has crashed out of this race.
21:55Hope he's okay.
21:55Now, the back, he said he was 100% healed.
21:57So I don't know if there's a fear of re-injury there, but definitely just took a big hit.
22:03Yeah, I'm not sure where he is on the racetrack.
22:05But he's not in a rush.
22:07And any time you see a rider laying on the racetrack, even though he's kind of off the side, that means they're probably feeling it.
22:12So, bummer for Pierce.
22:17Okay, he's back up on his feet here.
22:19And it was such a road back for Pierce.
22:21Leading the opening main event of the year, 250 East Supercross in Tampa, and then crashed.
22:27Good day for the Triumphs to have a good day.
22:29They got a sponsor for the day.
22:31Christine Auctions is their title sponsor for this event.
22:33See some of the red logos on the bike.
22:37Deegan has closed in on Shimoda as we look at timing and scoring.
22:41So we might have a battle for it before it's over.
22:44Hey, folks, have you ever wanted to walk the track before the big race?
22:47Or hang out next to the world's best racers at an SMX World Championship event?
22:51Maybe before the 450 gate drop, get down to the floor.
22:54Or...
22:55He had an upcoming race.
23:05Don't just watch SMX.
23:07So, Boland also getting around Swole.
23:17Let's check back in with the leaders.
23:19We mentioned that Deegan had cut the gap down.
23:21And now he can see Shimoda, that red Honda HRC progressive machine.
23:25Oh, Deegan off the track there.
23:29As you look at the lap times, Deegan is definitely closing.
23:32Yeah, I think Joe made a pretty big mistake because it was around four seconds,
23:35and he lost two seconds at last lap.
23:37Deegan's been going about a second faster over the last few laps.
23:41So, I wouldn't be surprised.
23:43Looking at his body language, kind of cheating out the window.
23:45It seemed like Hayden was really relaxed at an early part of the moto.
23:48But I wouldn't be surprised if he's like, you know what?
23:50Everybody talks about how strong Joe is at the end of the moto.
23:53I'm going to wait, and I'm going to get him at the end of the moto
23:55and beat the guy where he's the strongest.
23:57Because that's how Hayden operates, and that's kind of what I'm seeing right here.
24:01Because he's closing the gap pretty quickly.
24:03Hibital Moto right now.
24:04Again, it seems like Deegan has this massive championship lead,
24:08but 45 points.
24:09Joe is still in it.
24:10So, that makes this a critical juncture for Deegan to try to reestablish himself as the guy.
24:18And Shimoda, he won here in the past.
24:22So, he's good at this track at Ironman, but he's going to have to fight for this one.
24:26Yeah, he's going to have to fight.
24:27Hayden's got the hook in him.
24:28And what Hayden's had the luxury of doing is seeing where Joe, now that he's closed,
24:33Hayden probably had to change his lines because Joe was getting away.
24:36So, by changing his lines, he probably found some good ones.
24:39We'll see how that plays out.
24:40Looks a lot more comfortable now than he did in that early part of the race.
24:45Gap a little closer now.
24:471.6.
24:48Yeah, he's on him.
24:49Yeah, this is going to be interesting.
24:51Let's listen in.
24:56There's that big jump.
25:00Oh, it's coming now.
25:01Listen to the crowd pick up as well.
25:04Yeah, Hayden's got some really good lines.
25:08Still like this outside Joe's getting.
25:10Hayden hasn't been able to get over this double, but he got it to that left.
25:14Yeah.
25:18Oh, look at that.
25:20Five laps.
25:21Don't wait.
25:21Big push.
25:22That's the words of the mechanics.
25:24Joe's father saying, what do you think I've been trying to do?
25:27So, at this point, Joe knows he's got a battle.
25:29He might have felt prepared for the fight because he's coming.
25:31And it's what you love to see.
25:36The two title combatants going at it.
25:41And it's still the graphic on the screen.
25:42As they run, it will be a 42-point lead for Deegan.
25:45Because Shimoda would gain three if he wins that moto.
25:49But it is a big if right now.
25:51Deegan has cut what was once a seven-second gap down to about one.
25:56Yeah, but Hayden's got this sider to try and figure it out.
25:59His lines, if you watch him, he's not stopping through these corners.
26:03So, some of these things he'll square up, jump over some of these bumps.
26:06So, let's see how that works out.
26:08He's going outside here.
26:09Now he'll switch back to the inside, jump over this thing.
26:11So, to me, he's got it figured out.
26:15Joe better watch out.
26:16Otherwise, Hayden's going to sneak up to the inside of him really quickly.
26:21Almost showing a wheel right there.
26:25Headed toward this big monster launch.
26:27Deegan going to run the outside.
26:33He's right there.
26:34Ah, it's fantastic action here at Iron Man.
26:40And Deegan loves this smooth right side.
26:44Flirting with those track markers.
26:47Almost there.
26:48Yeah, now Joe's still in front of this next lap.
26:50You'll see Joe switches line.
26:51He should go to the inside because Hayden will pass him.
26:54It's another opportunity.
26:55We saw the last lap, Hayden crisscrossing.
26:58So, he might have another opportunity here.
26:59If he stays a little bit wide, jump back to the inside.
27:02He should be able to get up the inside of Joe.
27:05And Joe jumps into the sand to try to fend him off.
27:08And it worked.
27:09Now, Deegan, around the outside.
27:11Once you put him on the inside right here, Hayden's got to go outside.
27:14There you go.
27:15And the slow race cuts him off on the brakes.
27:20Deegan to the lead.
27:21Now, you can look at that part attitude,
27:23but I think a lot of that was Hayden wanted to stop Joe from squaring up the inside of him
27:27and doubling that jump and getting back around him.
27:29So, what a brace.
27:32Oh, boy.
27:33Can Shimoda respond?
27:35Statement time from Deegan if not.
27:40As a rider, the best thing you can do right now is to get around Hayden.
27:43You don't want him to lead even a lap.
27:45So, you've got these lap riders in front of you.
27:47Leighton Hayden has some good lines.
27:49So, you've got to get him.
27:50Weiss stuck behind him.
27:51Yep, it's the teammates.
27:53Turner and Long.
27:54Oh, Deegan was tucking in the front.
27:56I don't know how he kept it up right.
27:59Yeah, Hayden knows how important it was to get around both those guys.
28:02He's pushing it.
28:04In the woods.
28:05You like Deegan's lines back here.
28:07Yeah, I just like it.
28:08It's just momentum.
28:09But Joe's obviously pushed up the pace.
28:11And Joe's a smart rider.
28:12He'll probably start following Hayden if he can.
28:15And if he feels like his lines are better, you can see how much harder Joe is pushing him.
28:22Up to the Godzilla uphill.
28:24And they're both doubling to the inside.
28:26No, Shimoda does triple.
28:31Oh, Shimoda's throwing everything he has at it to keep Deegan in sight.
28:42It takes a little bit of a look back.
28:43Probably trying to figure out whether he goes inside or outside this next one, depending on how close Joe is.
28:49Look at those rugs.
28:51Every one of those inside looks so promising.
28:54But they are not easy.
28:56And now look at Deegan getting away.
29:02With Deegan, what kind of comfort do you get?
29:05Do you know you can spend a few laps to maybe experiment with the lines and have that kind of patience?
29:11Yeah, I don't know.
29:12I mean, I would be curious to see what JT thinks.
29:14But I think Hayden, Joe was just better.
29:16Joe had better lines.
29:17Hayden probably had to let the track work in.
29:19So maybe not necessarily experiment.
29:21He probably had to switch it up to find that pace to catch Joe because Joe was on him.
29:26But I'm not sure of JT.
29:27Yeah, I agree with you, James.
29:29I think Hayden was looking around.
29:30Like, he was back there trying to figure out why he wasn't able to close.
29:33And that opened up those lines that he's used.
29:36And for Joe here, he has to keep an open mind.
29:39And he needs to just walk in and follow Hayden because what he was doing stopped working.
29:43And this track changes.
29:44Lines come in.
29:45They start to go away.
29:46And for right now, Hayden has a track to dial, just as James said.
29:49And Joe has to respond mentally and change it up.
29:53Well, Tom Dell is going to have to respond here soon, JT, because Marchbanks has caught him.
29:57And that is a battle for thirds.
29:59So this is going to be interesting if Marchbanks can unseat him as Shimoda keeps going to work.
30:07I don't know, solve this riddle with Deegan.
30:10Yeah, it's important for Joe.
30:11Even if he's not able to beat Hayden his moto, he's got to stay close to him so he can see these lines
30:15and start regrouping for the next moto.
30:17Because I agree with JT.
30:19There's lines that Joe are running.
30:20He's still running those things.
30:22And it's changed.
30:23So now you see him switching things up.
30:27This race ain't over.
30:28If Hayden gets caught in these lap riders, Joe gets that confidence in not losing that much time.
30:32He'll put another push back into him.
30:34It's going to be two to go next time around.
30:41Here comes the big launch.
30:44Even though the outside is a longer way around, I like it because you stay lower off this jump.
30:49So you carry a lot more momentum.
30:51And Hayden's running this outside, so he's not breaking hard.
30:53It just keeps that flow, like going down straight in these corners instead of trying to round it off,
30:59especially with these hooks into it.
31:01So to me, Hayden's definitely got a better flow right now around this racetrack as he's changing.
31:05Well, stopwatch doesn't lie.
31:08He has now opened it up over Shimoda.
31:16You know, we have not heard the traditional trash talk from Diga this summer.
31:20He's been much quieter than he has been in previous seasons.
31:24I wonder if he does pull off this come-from-behind win against Shimoda.
31:28Well, here's something.
31:29It's to further put that momentum back on his side, back to March Banks.
31:34He was battling the alleys.
31:35He's lost a little bit of time.
31:37This fight for third.
31:38Yeah, Tom responded.
31:40I'm not sure if it was a mistake by Garrett.
31:42Tom was a little bit closer.
31:44And earlier, the last lap, I mean, but Tom looked like he was responding.
31:49Now Garrett's on his back foot, so Tom's got a lap, trying to pull this thing,
31:53two laps to pull this thing off, hold on for a third place,
31:55which would be good for coming back from the injury.
31:59And Diga now starting to get it in control.
32:03Nearly a four-second gap between himself and Shimoda.
32:12That's a heck of a ride.
32:15Seven seconds he had to make up at one point.
32:19Yeah, it gives you a lot of confidence if you're Hayden, figuring this part out.
32:23And Hayden's been really good his whole career.
32:26When things are challenging for him, he goes to work.
32:28And the track like today is going to play out probably the same thing in that 450.
32:32The guy that's going to be able to adjust to this racetrack,
32:35because it's changing every lap, it seems.
32:38It's going to win this race.
32:39And Hayden so far has been the best one at doing that in this moto.
32:42If Diga wins this moto, he'll actually move into the top ten all-time in moto wins.
32:47Their old friend, Blake Baggett, former champion of the series.
32:51They'd be tied for tenth all-time in moto wins in this class.
32:56Who's at the top?
32:58Who's at the top of that list?
32:59That's my guy.
33:00That's my guy.
33:00Hook you up.
33:01I'll hook you up, man.
33:02We won't talk 450s and all that.
33:04Jet Lawrence is starting to catch some people.
33:05But in a 250 class, let's be honest, 125 two-stroke for you.
33:09Nobody did it better.
33:10So this is Hayden Deegan with a white flag coming out.
33:14Some of that up, James.
33:15That's why I'm not saying anything.
33:16I don't even want to start the next conversation.
33:18Look, Deegan's already said, I'm racing a 450 motocross next year.
33:21He's not catching you.
33:22Yeah, get out of my class, son.
33:24Get out of my class.
33:24As for the rumor that was put out there by me that Deegan could be racing a 450 at the last race of this year,
33:35that apparently came from the team owner, Bobby Regan, not from the Deegans.
33:39I talked to Brian this morning.
33:39They said they have no intention of doing that.
33:43That's next year, 450.
33:44Because remember, if he wraps this title, and that's an if, because mathematically Shimoda's still there.
33:52Still three 250 races to go at the SMX Playoffs and World Championship.
33:56Still a 250 at motocross the nation.
33:58So 450 is very much a 2026 thing.
34:02Yeah, and it would be a mistake to me if they race it.
34:06And it's not saying that Hayden could jump on it and compete with these guys because he has the talent.
34:10But I think motos like this is going to help him to compete against Jet Lawrence,
34:15to be able to figure out how to go faster.
34:18And Hayden, this is an impressive moto to me, to be able to go to work on the fly,
34:22figure out Joe has got that confidence.
34:24We know how strong Joe is at the end of the motos.
34:26Hayden figured that part out.
34:27So that's going to help him compete in the 450 class because it's not all about speed.
34:31It's about adjusting.
34:33So Hayden's got three races left.
34:34Let's see if he can wrap this title up.
34:36Back a three-peat for the XMX World Championship.
34:41There's a lot on the line for him still.
34:42And what's also on the line is if he can get it to about a 50-point gap at the end of the next weekend
34:47during St. Unidillo, then he would wrap up this championship early.
34:51And that's kind of that Mendoza line.
34:52Shimoda would at least like to stave it off, take it down to the finale at Bucks Creek in two weeks.
34:58It'll be very close depending on these next four motos play out.
35:03But Deegan certainly making his best case to wrap it up early right here.
35:09Yeah, but I think the good thing about Joe Shimoda, his attitude, you know, he's going to be bummed,
35:14you know, really disappointed on how this moto goes.
35:17But it's not going to deter him.
35:18He'll come back and fight.
35:20And that's been his whole career.
35:21He never gives up.
35:22So out of all these 250 guys, I like Joe's attitude to be able to come back.
35:26And I wouldn't be surprised if he wins a second moto because of that.
35:29Yeah, we saw a couple other races this year.
35:31He did that out by Shugel.
35:32It was a 1-2-2-1.
35:35And one more leap through the Hoosier hole here in Indiana and then back into the sand rollers.
35:43And Hayden Deegan showing the break.
35:44Did him some good.
35:45Yeah, it was that crash.
35:48We saw him qualifying at Red Bud.
35:49That maybe held him back for a few weeks.
35:50He's clearly rested, ready, and ready to win again.
35:55Hayden Deegan takes moto one at Ironman 2025.
35:59And a big statement there.
36:06Shimoda had the drop on him.
36:10Back to business.
36:11Back to the ballone.
36:12Yep.
36:14And you see Deegan, you're going to see someone with a camera running to film him.
36:17That's his specialty as well.
36:19There you go, James.
36:21Look at that list.
36:22Let's just read the graphic.
36:25Yeah, well, he's closing in.
36:26He's only 30 back.
36:27So he's all right.
36:30Almost halfway there.
36:31He's there.
36:31It's very impressive.
36:32I'm glad I don't got to race him.
36:34So, yeah.
36:35Good job.
36:35Good job.
