A 39-year-old man was arrested in Johor Baru for allegedly attacking a 12-year-old girl with a hammer at a flat in Taman Ungku Tun Aminah, Johor Baru last Saturday (July 26).

Johor Baru North OCPD Asst Comm Balveer Singh said the suspect, who has been remanded for seven days, has a history of multiple criminal and drug-related offences while a urine test also returned positive for meth.

00:17Johor Bahru North District Police Chief ACP Balveer Singh confirmed that the police received
00:23a report from the victim's parent at around 5.19pm Saturday, claiming that the child had
00:29been assaulted by a man with a metal hammer.
00:32Following the report, police arrested a 39-year-old local man at his residence at about 7.25pm
00:39the same day.
00:40Checks revealed that the suspect has a history of multiple criminal and drug-related offences,
00:46while a urine test also returned positive for methamphetamine.
00:50ACP Balveer said the suspect has been remanded for seven days to assist with the investigation
00:57under Section 324 of the Penal Code.
01:01As for the victim, he said the girl sustained a laceration to her scalp and swelling to her
01:06right hand.
01:07She was rushed to Sultana Amina Hospital and reported to be in stable condition.
