Kidnapped businessman’s family member among 13 arrested in Johor

A relative of a kidnap victim was among 13 suspects including three foreigners arrested by a special Johor police task force.  Johor police chief Comm Datuk M. Kumar said the 59-year-old victim  had lodged a police report on Oct 13 stating that he had been kidnapped at his house in Johor Baru.   Following that, state police together with Bukit Aman, set up a special task force to investigate the matter and 13 suspects aged between 23 and 58 were arrested in various places in the operation carried out on Tuesday night (Oct 22). 00:00The second thing I want to share with the media is an incident that was reported on the 13th of October, 2024,

00:14where a police report was received stating that a man, a local citizen, was kidnapped in Johor Bahru from his house.

00:28According to the report, the Police Department of Johor County,

00:38assisted by the Police Department of Bukit Aman,

00:42formed a task force to investigate the kidnapping incident.

00:47The investigation was carried out on the 22nd of October, 2024,

01:01and several operations were carried out.

01:08As a result, the Police Department of Johor County,

01:16assisted by the Police Department of Bukit Aman,

01:20arrested 10 men and 3 women.

01:28They were between the ages of 23 and 58 years old.

01:33They were 8 local men,

01:372 foreigners,

01:412 local women,

01:43and 1 foreigner.

01:46What is interesting here is that one of the arrests,

01:51out of the 13 arrests,

01:53was a family member,

01:56a kidnapped victim.

01:584 out of the 13 arrests,

02:024 out of the 13 arrests,

02:05had a record of crimes and burglary.

02:08The investigation is being carried out under the name of kidnapping,

02:13and out of the 13 arrests,

02:1610 have been arrested,

02:18and have been arrested,

02:21until the 29th of October, 2024.

02:253 more will be arrested tomorrow.

02:32All of the arrests are in the Johor area.
