00:00This is not a game. This is a job interview from hell.
00:14From all corners of the country, 16 people have come to London.
00:19I don't care where you come from, whether you started in a council flat or born with a silver spoon in your mouth.
00:26All I'm looking for is somebody who is drop-dead true.
00:31They're here to compete for a job worth £100,000, with a man famously hard to please.
00:40No-one's going to make a fool out of me.
00:45Sir Alan Sugar has built a global business empire worth £800 million.
00:52Now, once again, he's on the hunt for an apprentice.
00:55I think this has been a bloody disaster.
00:58And I promise you, my friend, you will be out that door so quick, you wouldn't know what's hit you.
01:02To succeed, they're going to have to live...
01:05This is the life.
01:07...and work together.
01:09We are going to make some money. We really are.
01:11I am your boss. No, you're not my boss. You're a project manager.
01:14I am your boss. You're nothing to me.
01:16It's the chance of a lifetime.
01:18You went out and lost me money. You're fired. You're fired. You're a total shambles. You're fired.
01:34Previously on The Apprentice, Gerry got blamed for bad locations selling coffee on the first task.
01:41This location situation. Speak up for yourself.
01:44I did manage to sell eleven cups.
01:46I wasn't. I knew.
01:47Eleven? What are you in the middle?
01:48I know.
01:49But the project manager had lost control.
01:51Andy, you're fired.
01:55The second task was about design.
01:58People love their dogs so much so that they will spend a fortune.
02:02They had to think up a dog product to pitch to retailers.
02:06Project manager Katie got the girls to sell a doggy wardrobe.
02:13Rory led the boys, but he couldn't control Trey.
02:16Right.
02:17Stop talking to me. I'm going to stop talking to you.
02:19Don't wind me up.
02:20And he struggled to motivate Iftie.
02:23You know, I just wasn't up to anything today. Simple as that.
02:26In the boardroom, it was girls on top.
02:29And they came away with, what, for 2,000 views?
02:31Oh, yeah.
02:32Sir Alan confronted Iftie.
02:34You know, you are not kind of transmitting confidence to me.
02:38I've never been away from my son, and I found it crippling.
02:42Business is business. You're fired.
02:44But the boss wasn't finished yet.
02:47As unusual as it is, one of you is still going to get fired.
02:50He wasn't making a decision as to which way he wanted to go.
02:53He's no use.
02:54Ha!
02:55To the teams.
02:56Rory, you're a disaster.
02:58You're fired.
03:00Now 13 remain to fight for the chance to become The Apprentice.
03:056pm.
03:25At the house, the candidates are enjoying a rare evening off.
03:30Good evening.
03:31Yeah.
03:32Good evening.
03:33Good evening.
03:34Hello.
03:35Hello, Sir Alan.
03:36Come in.
03:37Come in.
03:38You call everybody together, yeah?
03:39Yeah.
03:40Guys, how do you see you?
03:41Sir Alan, how do you see you?
03:42Dear Alan, how do you see you?
03:43Sir Alan, how do you see you?
03:44Good evening.
03:45Hello.
03:46Hello, Sir Alan.
03:47Come in.
03:48Come in.
03:49You call everybody together, yeah?
04:04together yeah
04:23okay the first thing I'm gonna do is tinker with the teams a little bit we've
04:26we've lost three boys in the last two weeks as you know so Jadine go back to
04:32join the girls and Katie come over here and join the boys I want you to come
04:38sort Trey out 40 years ago with just 100 pounds Sir Alan started his first
04:50business selling car aerials one of the most frequently asked questions of me
04:56is Sir Alan do you think that in this environment we're in at the moment that
05:01you could start a business again from scratch can anybody start a business
05:05again from scratch with virtually no money and I answered to them absolutely
05:10it's absolutely possible so here's the task very simple tomorrow morning you are
05:16going to start a business you could do effectively what you want I've got you
05:21the London borough of Richmond for you to operate in so it's quite a high brow
05:26area okay when it comes to the money it's not going to be a lot a little bit
05:32more than I had now 200 pounds for you and 200 pounds for you much more than I
05:40had but then that was 40 years ago okay good it's very simple the team that comes
05:46back with the most amount of money is going to win and the team that doesn't
05:50we'll lose and in that team one of you will get fired one in five businesses fail
05:59in their first year Sir Alan knows this task will be a real test of the
06:04candidates entrepreneurial flair this is a very very special task is a very
06:08interesting one because it's the nearest thing to what I did when I started my
06:12business it's not as if I'm telling them you've got to buy XY and Z product or
06:17you've got to do XY and Z business they're allowed to go and do what they
06:22want the task will start at dawn tomorrow so any preparation must be done tonight
06:29first each team must choose a project manager if we sort of did a vote as to
06:39who we wanted to if your name come it came up would you be happy to do it and
06:44that's a yes or no do you feel right okay good girl I wouldn't mind I'm I'm I'm I'm fine no I'll see
06:53no
06:56right what would you do you can't vote for yourself secret ballot boys are so
07:06different to girls I think who wants to be a leader five-hand shooter around the
07:11table it's just so different Katie and the boys count their secret ballot it's a
07:18narrow victory for marketing consultant Trey as an because I knew I had quite a
07:23strong group I wanted to have more of a consultative approach because I think the
07:26mistake that the other two managers did was not listen to anybody else ultimately
07:29the first thing we need to do is think about the business ideas and the feasibility of the
07:33business ideas I work in business strategy and with Katie who's also a fellow strategist I think
07:39the two of us working together with us because we could really make this profitable business Trey will
07:43be great as project manager I have faith in him I think he will do a good job as long as he is
07:50controlled and in my role as follower I intend to control Trey funnily enough I'm more than I'm being drawn to
07:56gardening purely because you can charge more money for gardening while the boys go for a gardening
08:11business the girls have yet to choose a project manager more than anything what we need for this
08:17task is someone that's very very organized and can stick to time well my that's my yeah that's it
08:23is why babe I would see you definitely in the hope of working for Sir Alan Naomi's left a job at a
08:35multinational advertising company everyone has to be project manager at some point or other we need
08:43someone very organized for this and the team all said me I think I wasn't a hundred percent confident
08:49about doing it but if those guys are behind me then I'm more than happy to give it a go I think I
08:54could have my work cut out for me with a couple of the characters in the team the girls strategy is
09:03to choose a business with low start-up costs and lots of potential customers I'm going to face
09:08painting I think you can charge a fiver and I think it only takes five minutes bring it on
09:14I say let's do it Jerry where are we going to do face painting you two no just now you were saying
09:21face painting face painting there's lots of kids around where playgrounds wherever kids hang out I'm
09:26not quite sure what I'm worried about in particular with Naomi as a project leader is that the group was
09:35kind of talking over each other and she didn't really kind of take control of that and I'm hoping
09:42that she will develop and and and you know become stronger let's just do face painting okay so our
09:49first service we're going to offer tomorrow is face painting for kids 5 45 a.m. I'm sorry
10:05the candidates of just one day to start a business and make as much profit as possible on Sir Alan's
10:12investment of 200 pounds
10:14the teams can work until 10 tonight with one change of business allowed for their evenings trading
10:29they'll be based in Richmond a mostly residential area and the second most affluent borough in the UK
10:40Trey's team eclipse are targeting homeowners in need of garden labor this is good oh man and low hit Katie and
10:51Paul head straight to leafy back streets in search of business do we want to do this present and what is present and work down
10:58yeah yeah yeah let's do some gardening the other half of the team led by Trey head off to the higher
11:05shop on the girls face painting team Naomi has put Jerry in charge of finding locations I'm coming from a
11:17company called stealth which is a mobile face painting service for kids while the rest of the
11:22girls who will do the painting head off to buy materials okay so the kids there look kids kids
11:28kids kids kids and mums that's all you're gonna say there's our money 15 pounds we've just driven by
11:35exactly we are gonna make some money we really are we it's gonna be easy in terms of the mower I wanted
11:45to ask you about your opinion on mowing in this kind of weather because in this weather at the
11:49moment with the rain without night and this morning it's not worth doing because it would just chew the
11:54grass up yeah because we're gonna be doing this for today only so is it okay to use an electric one in
11:58this weather no that's if it starts raining you're gonna get less cute ah that's gonna be tricky you
12:07want to actually do some cutting yeah we want to do as much gardening today as we can because we've
12:11got today to do it and then we're gonna get all your equipment back by six o'clock yeah let's do it
12:19I don't think they'll get on very well because most people that want gardening done and probably got
12:27people doing it anyway and we who knows I mean there's plenty of old people get conned into
12:33things in there my company is called Eclipse I have a team of five guys but we're basically mobile
12:39gardeners what we like to do is just arrive to 30 minutes work or so on on someone's garden and
12:44just make it really tidy and so it's something I just wondered if it would be something you'd be
12:48interested in well no already we're gonna have to get a bit robust on this one and take a good few
12:56slappings before we let's go get snaps thanks very much bye I see Katie I think you've done this one
13:05before really yeah gardens grow quickly though the strategy is appalling they're wandering around
13:10aimlessly in an area where the gardens are all well kept they've got no pricing hit or miss aimless badly
13:17organized nice day to waste your time in Richmond but you know really they're not they'll not get
13:24anywhere the girls first pitch is a town centre cafe as the face painters set up Naomi leads the
13:33rest of the team off to hunt for business we knew that Richmond in the day was gonna be mothers babies
13:41toddlers would you like your face painted as a cat or a tiger it's five pound and you can choose
13:50whatever face you want and you get a free lolly and a balloon and the lovely ladies will make you look
13:54amazing do you want your face painted no no oh the effect we have on all young boys do you fancy your face
14:02painted do you perfect thank you should be a deal we got good news yeah we made a sale okay what are we
14:18doing what are we doing your grass clipping you're taking back some ivy you're pulling up weeds and
14:24your leaf collecting thanks how much have we got for it 25 pounds you need to get it done in half an hour
14:29basically we want to be out of here within half an hour guys I've got the driveway you've got the grass I've
14:38got the head as the scale of the job dawns it's clear the sales team has got it wrong this is way
14:53too much work for 24 and as wet grass clogs the mower it takes the boys over an hour to get the job
15:04done right come on let's finish it up now the other team are letting us down a little bit the
15:07other side are letting us down a bit if I finish this and they haven't got another job then I'm not
15:11going to be impressed at the cafe business is brisk for the face painters this is Jack he's gonna roar
15:30for you when he's finished ever so easy to make five pounds doing this job it's really easy I think
15:37we might end up making quite severe profit if we locate ourselves well neither up and running they
15:42seem to be doing very well once you get one child more get attracted they're very busy now and let's
15:50hope they can keep on like that during the afternoon one o'clock second job of the day for
16:03the gardeners we're going around today just doing odd jobs around the garden this evening Sir Alan's
16:10rules allow for a change of business and Katie wants to set up a DJ service for wine bars okay no problem I
16:17think if I could get some appointments to see some wine bar guys I get inside the wine bar I could nail
16:25it so the thing is if we get two or three more jobs which keeps me busy up into that six o'clock point we
16:30can then go and do that challenges to get there's more gardening jobs now to free us up to go and
16:35sort out the stuff this evening next Katie and Paul have set up some leaf clearing thank you so much
16:44thank you very much but the gardeners are still struggling with an 11-foot hedge why gave them
16:51the broom why aren't they doing it I told them if you come up with a cleaning job it'll take you 15
16:56minutes to do it we're sure but what we want to do is we want to get this evening booked up why do you
17:01need to go now and get this evening booked up because if we don't get it booked up now then it
17:05still gives us time to work out a plan B I'd much rather you guys just finish that 20 pound job
17:09yourself all right bye if I've got a gardening business I want a garden and when I'm finished
17:16with my gardening business then I'll think about everything else worst case scenario we can wash
17:20cars and shoes shine shoes I mean it's not like rocket science is it I think Trace kicked off this
17:25morning in a very firm controlling sort of fashion but now I think he's just he's just confusing lots
17:30of activity and physical work with leadership I think he rather takes the view that if he's very
17:37tired at the end of the day because he worked very very hard then he must have done a good job and of
17:43course that's nonsense ha Charlie Dimmock your heart out love and I do it in underwear
17:53I was gonna say I just feel slightly concerned because I want to just grip this thing now I want
18:03to sit down and sort out this evening I want to set it up so it's a success I don't have the power
18:08to do that because I need to sweep leaves okay 1 30 with the flow of mums and toddlers drying up at the
18:18cafe the girls decide to move on an advance party head off to look for a new pitch with Jerry in charge
18:27of finding locations it occurred to us that the libraries themselves you may have some kind of
18:32reading groups they decide to follow a tip-off about a mother and toddler group at a local rugby club
18:41next the local park Jerry was heading up location Christina was working with her and so the idea
19:02of that was just to make sure that we didn't go around like headless chickens running around without
19:06any real strategy without a pitch the face painters have nowhere to head for we need to get the high
19:20streets yeah I get the feeling that they're they're not very organized and they're beginning to panic
19:25slightly I mean there's what this was get five or six kids here come in what they need to do is find
19:32the right location and get on with painting faces after almost an hour of wasted trading time Naomi calls
19:40a meeting to discuss the next move today and it's just round the corner and you are staying you're not
19:50going we're gonna go into a recce of the primary schools because it seems silly to have seven of us
19:54us together at the moment okay bye thanks I think that's bullshit who's going to bring us customers
20:01if they finds a bitch who's going to bring us customers because our things management isn't very
20:05strong Sophie knows the management isn't very strong and we're not being led
20:10Natalie have a look up there and they're just standing around now we found a prime location we'll run and tell us then let's get prime
20:18without a toddler in sight Naomi wants to change tack and target older children
20:25guys I want your team to split up into two and I want them to go to primary schools either we go there
20:32and set up and let people know that we're going to be there for a while and then who are we going to let
20:36you know the parents coming out of the school and we fly at them if the parents knew about it then
20:41you go to school and you think well everybody you know what what's the point because we're just
20:44having conversations everywhere I know then we stay together if we're going to go can you be quiet
20:48please well I'm very clear point just just just listen to me because do you only listen to you I know
20:55you want us to stay as a team I think we need to do that okay that's fine I've heard what you've
20:59said you've said it 30 times please be quiet one minute I'm asking the others this is a lot of discussion
21:05just because you talk the most doesn't mean I don't talk the most you talk Christina talk
21:09Jerry talks we all talk I don't speak the most I do not speak the most I'm probably the most proactive
21:15person here yesterday and that's fine Christina we're underutilized here then we go and give
21:21something a chance all right and it might not work out but at least we're bloody well trying I agree
21:25Christina and Judene are very strong characters and both of them want to dominate a task I've worked
21:31with Christina in the past and I actually trust Christina and Christina at least was coming up
21:36with a solution to the problem whereas Judene was bitching backstabbing and moaning she does not have
21:44any leadership and she just doesn't listen unless Christina says yeah she's against it I don't know
21:50what that's about you can't you can't be a leader like that it's just not gonna happen 245 the
21:57gardener's lack of experience is starting to show and this is like a rose tree here isn't there
22:02there's like a rose bush here it seems to root itself twice he's wrapping the weed around the tree
22:13isn't he yes um that's the weed that you've wrapped around the tree yeah just gonna dress the branch
22:20okay yeah I call it a wildflower see there's a very thin line between weeds and wildflowers off it
22:30comes so I was just double checking that you know she was happy to get it and happy to get rid of it
22:35it's true I'm talking complete sense here 3 p.m. Jerry and Christina head off to the local primary
22:45school in search of faces to paint it's been a very slow start and they're going to need to pick up
22:52considerably when the schools are coming out or they're looking at a financial disaster
22:56the girls know their only chance is to get to the school before the kids have left guys this is
23:05quite serious because we've got to make this work because even if even if we don't win this task as
23:10individuals we've got to make this work I know I think there's a sign up there showing kids oh
23:16yeah but it's too late the children are already hurrying home that's people coming out that's
23:24that we've messed them I know but they're coming out now while they wait to hear from the location
23:32team the face painters try their luck in a nearby playground it's very the current task is shambles
23:38we don't know what we're doing and it feels like there aren't any decent decisions being made it's
23:44not working would you like your son to have his face painted today no okay Christina and Jerry
23:52have been on location finding all day and the locations we found her absolute dreadful what
23:58actually are they doing other than standing around pontificating I really can't work it out
24:02I think the issue is is that we haven't sorted the problem of where we can paint their faces no I know
24:13I'm just embarrassed I really really am you know if the boys haven't done better than this and they
24:19must have been asleep all afternoon but I'm pissed off because we don't have any locations yeah
24:24as evening approaches the gardeners can't agree how to make money once it's dark Katie's idea of a
24:45wine bar DJ service doesn't appeal to Trey look it's a Tuesday night who's going to pay for events
24:50promotion on a Tuesday night but ignoring their project manager and convinced they can get bookings
24:56Katie and Paul head for Richmond's wine baths great thing about DJing is it's very little outland
25:01potentially loads of income theory if we do DJing we could get maybe 50 100 pounds for an hour's work
25:08we get a couple of those in I think it'd be in really good shape Paul and Katie are in charge of
25:12planning what was happening in the evening as far as I was aware it had all been done it had been
25:17organized and sorted and then I found out sort of half past four that they hadn't actually got
25:22anything confirmed whatsoever why have we not already got a book at this time well I've not got
25:29a book in yet in life there are people that are energizers and there are people that are sappers
25:38Adam is able to sap the energy out of anything even me by just sitting alongside me what do you think the
25:45better idea Adam I think a better idea is having organized something well before five o'clock
25:50it's a DJ and five promotional guys and what we basically do is fill places we do have a slot free
26:04we can get two we've got 200 quid yeah yeah yeah and that's really appealing call me the kid if you
26:17get so but I don't think you will I'm being honest it's too short notice he was trying to keep positive
26:23trying to think about what we could do next Adam just seemed to be a bit of a grumpy teenager in the
26:27corner this sort of kicking his heels and done and moaning really 20 to 6 due to start at just
26:36after 6 o'clock we haven't really got any vent to do it's a fucking job Trey it's Adam yeah yeah it's
26:45fucking not happening this man at all seriously I don't know why they're trying to sort this out at
26:49this time you're gonna have to come up with a very very quick solution Matt Trey yes Paul what's going on
26:54we can do drives and we got we got 20 quid for the last drive we did right do you reckon you can sell
26:59any drives because it took you guys half a day to sell three what have you sold in the last hour
27:04and a half that you've been selling stuff anyway moving on or we can do DJing and if we get two
27:10locations right you're still talking about DJing we haven't we nearly did we nearly did unfortunately
27:20right so you so we haven't got that and what have you guys been doing since then we've been to five
27:27different pubs so far and we're just standing outside yeah but I didn't ask you to go to five
27:30fucking ignorant Simon they're taking the fucking piss mate I know I know I know I gave them the
27:39sheets I ripped out I ripped out two sheets of paper from the yellow page this morning none of
27:44them for call it know that they've not particularly followed orders well and now they're gonna come
27:48down to we're gonna have to split them up because they're obviously not a fucking useful fucking unit
27:52ah and the tasks I've worked with Paul so far he's been ultra reliable and this time it just seems
27:58that he's just kind of I don't know maybe it's because he's smitten by her he hasn't kind of it's
28:03true he's completely smitten by he's like a puppy dog following around all the time they've not made
28:07fuck all money today they've just yapped and yapped and yapped and fucking wasted time even though we
28:11told her not to she was supposed to be a fucking good project manager she's just a fucking idiot
28:16having given up on face painting the girls are having trouble agreeing on a nighttime trade what do
28:28you think then guys for this evening something that requires a minimum sorry I'm sorry I'm sorry a
28:33pound a kiss sometimes needs must sometimes needs must and I don't think it's a pound I think it's
28:41your best offer you know yeah we could go and do a kiss a gram or we could go and escort people but I
28:46don't really want to be doing that I'm a business person I'm not a prostitute I'll be your pen I'll be
28:53your pen listen listen listen as long as I get a cut from it it's all good the consensus over this
29:00end is that definitely kiss a grunt and he's going to do it I'm gonna do it you're gonna do it I'm not
29:10gonna do it and then every other person is gonna be our pimp just had the same discussion and the
29:15girls have decided that they're not happy doing it right okay well then you make a decision at night
29:21because at the end of the day you're you're the project manager yeah I know from what I've seen
29:29Naomi does seem to be a very organized person now I don't know how hard decision-making skills and
29:33leadership skills are like and clearly she doesn't have any excellent team player she works really
29:41really well within a team but she's just not a leader that is the bottom line Christina we've been
29:46talking about potentially doing car washing you mean in the evening yeah door-to-door whatever
29:54decision you go with they will we'll go with you as well on it thank you bye we do have two choices
30:17here okay we can either allow Naomi to continue to make decisions yeah no decisions or we make a
30:26stance we make a stance we need to make a stance look it's just business yeah that's a piece of
30:32happening brothers seeing as you guys are kind of responsible for planning ahead well kind of yes
30:41how about you we kind of start thinking from this factor entertainment novelty and mass public okay
30:48mate we'll have a look into that right can you not just look into it can you actually start taking
30:52action because we're coming to the back end of the day I saw a knackered shitless from doing this work
30:56can you just please work as a team at this moment we just need to fucking make some fucking money yeah
31:03sure man no problem you're out there in the town center and you're still being going to pubs and clubs even
31:08though I explicitly asked you not to and it's not been fruitful you had one near mate mate you've
31:14covered your back enough we get the idea what would you want us to do now bullshit Paul if you
31:18fucking do as you're fucking told then that's not about fucking covering someone's back is it okay

31:36you're calm then let's try and let's try and talk and have a conversation together covering your back
31:41this is the kind of bullshit attitude let's move on I'll tell you what you do how about you guys get
31:46out of the town get into the nearest residential area you can find I see how many driveways you can
31:51sell cleaning for we can do that how do you think that wins I think I think it's quite happy yeah quite
32:01frankly I'm getting a bit bored of all this bullshit now it's just all blood crap stupid stupid dumb shit
32:09people Richmond Green with her team split over kisses for sale Naomi calls the girls together we've got
32:21three hours in which we can make quite a lot of difference the quick win is probably going to be
32:26kiss the ground I think that what you go and ask is who is comfortable exactly and if we can get
32:31three people that are willing to go and do it then we can work with it because the other people can
32:36as such sell the service okay feminist what do you mean am I a feminist why don't I just wondered
32:41because I think I'm a bit feminist for going up and turning myself into an object I will do it for
32:47the sake of us making money it really isn't a good thing to kind of put yourself out there like
32:50that I'm just worried about doing the best for the team you need to sell yourself to do that I think
32:54there's many other things we can do away from kissing it was really strange because Naomi
33:09throughout the day was saying I'm not doing that no it's not right and as soon as Christina comes
33:13and we're together as a group we go with what Christina says and not what the majority says
33:17I don't want to rock the boat at the moment I want us all to try and work together over the last
33:29we've got three hours and we've got some pretty girls so hopefully we'll make some money at Trey's
33:36command Katie Paul and Adam head back to the suburbs to check out drives in the dark seriously we need
33:43to get a different street can we get a different street there's what don't need doing hey if we
33:47don't ask we don't know me yeah no if there's no leaves you can't sweep anything up that's right
33:55what's going on this is a fucking waste of time they're doing me fucking Eddie Adam don't get
34:00pissed off forget everything else listen you've got to get them to to fucking listen to me mate
34:04because they've got a little fucking band of brothers shit going on it's doing me Eddie I'll give you a
34:07couple choices single gram yes all right listen look listen it looks like single grams the single
34:13grams the one that we're gonna have to do I can beat box I'm sure a couple of you can sing we're
34:17gonna have to just do it now otherwise we're not gonna make any more money in the evening
34:20okay see you around for this mate
34:22seven p.m. just three hours left to squeeze as much money as possible from Richmond's nightlife
34:38let's do this
34:39we're offering a single gram service for today only we've got a whole range of songs we've got
34:47funny songs romantic songs classical songs drinking songs it's a bit of comedy value just a bit of a lot
34:52I think Chris grams is a cheap way of making money I don't really feel too good about putting my
35:01friend forward to be kissed you know I'm sending her yeah three pounds three pounds yeah pay for the
35:13kisses and then you get a kiss oh wicked
35:17so you want to get up close yeah
35:27oh yeah big squeeze no tongues
35:30no
35:30oh yeah
35:33oh yeah
35:37oh yeah
35:39oh yeah
35:41oh yeah
35:42oh yeah
35:45oh yeah
35:49oh yeah
35:54the singing has been fantastic for team morale because it's got everyone together and working as a unit where the for the whole day we've been separated
35:59we've been divided
36:06and always look on the bright side of life
36:10The right side of the life
36:12The right side of the life
36:14The right side of the life
36:16Always look on the right side of the life
36:18The right side of the life
36:20I've been here
36:24Always look on the right side of the life
36:26Now, please, you want a little bit, huh?
36:30I'm not really
36:32Aw, thank you
36:34Thank you the least of it
36:36Oh, thank you
36:38Thank you very much. We'll see you soon.
36:52Pull outside here. Let's go.
36:5728.
36:58Oh, my dear.
36:59Go ahead, Noel.
37:01What have you done there?
37:03Always look on the bright side of mine.
37:33Three weeks ago, these 13 people gave up their jobs and left their families behind in a bid to work for Sir Alan Sugar.
37:50One of them is about to find out the gamble hasn't paid off.
37:56Hello.
37:57Hello.
37:58You can go through to the board from now.
38:11Good afternoon.
38:28Good afternoon.
38:30We'll start off with the ladies, have a little understanding of what went on then.
38:35So, team leader was?
38:36Me.
38:37Right.
38:38Good team leader?
38:41Nice.
38:42Nice.
38:43Nice.
38:44Jadine, happy was you in this team?
38:49No.
38:50No?
38:51No.
38:52Why not?
38:53There was a lot of pontificating on issues and a lot of talking.
38:59Right.
39:00Boys.
39:01Trey, you were the team leader, yeah?
39:04Good team leader?
39:05Yeah.
39:06Good team leader.
39:07Yeah?
39:08Yep.
39:09Yep.
39:10So, you're all happy then?
39:11Happy with your leader?
39:12Yep.
39:13Relatively, yeah.
39:14Okay.
39:15Well, look, I think it's time we come up with the money now.
39:17I gave both teams £200 and the idea was how much they come back with.
39:23So, Margaret, how much did the girls team come back with?
39:25Well, Stealth came back with £265 and fourpence.
39:30So, they made a profit then on the day, £65 on the day.
39:35And, Nick, the boys team?
39:37Well, the boys eclipsed them with £389 and £29.
39:42Almost doubled your money.
39:43Very good.
39:44Very good.
39:45Nearly doubled the money.
39:47Nearly as good as me.
39:49I mean, there's six of you.
39:51I doubled my money on my own, but we'll go into that another time.
39:55It just goes to prove that in this day and age, provided with a little bit of money,
40:01you can, if you want to, drum up a bit of business.
40:03There's no excuses.
40:04So, your treat is going to be that I'm sending you off to Floridita,
40:08which is in Soho, Madonna and George Clooney type place,
40:12Cuban dancing and all that stuff.
40:14So, have a great time.
40:17Ladies, you're lost.
40:18I'll be calling you back in the boardroom.
40:20As you know, one of you will be fired.
40:23Off you go.
40:24Thank you very much.
40:36Trey was making some very poor decisions,
40:38and Paula and I were making decisions based on what needs to get done
40:42under pressure and to make things happen.
40:46I think I did everything right.
40:48I planned right, I worked hard, and it paid off at the end of the day.
40:52I made some tough decisions.
40:53I made some tough calls.
40:54As a project manager, I've got nothing to learn because I think I did an awesome job.
40:58So, guys, we lost the task.
40:59I think location was an issue.
41:13It was a massive issue.
41:17Really, truly and honestly, although I really, really like Naomi, it's got to be Naomi.
41:23She was the project manager and nothing, nothing was managed.
41:28I think she could have made more sensible decisions and more, well, decisions more quickly if there hadn't been an attitude and bitching in the group.
41:36No, me.
41:37You didn't.
41:38You didn't make any decisions.
41:39You asked Christina the whole way through the day, what should I do, what should I do, what should I do, what should I do?
41:43I've worked with Christina before, and I trust Christina, and Christina wasn't trying to form divisions within the group.
41:49They've got this kind of girl camaraderie going on, and I just think it's nonsense.
41:55We're here to get a job.
41:56We're not here to be friends.
41:57We're not here to play games, and when it comes to cutting someone off the block, it's quite easy to take out what they deem is the strongest link.
42:04They're obviously very threatened by me, and so they should be. So they should be.
42:31Yes, Frances, would you send them in, please?
42:33Yes, Sarah.
42:36You can go through to the boardroom now.
42:52How did the decision of doing kids' faces come up?
42:59It was a weekday, right? It's not half term, right? And you're going to try and find some kids in the street in the morning, in the afternoon. Doesn't that restrict your market? Didn't you think about that?
43:12We knew it wasn't perfect, and we knew it had, it's almost got to the point where the ideas, all the ideas we were left with, they all had risks attached to them.
43:21Do any of you know how many faces you painted?
43:23I think we painted ten in total.
43:25Was that because there wasn't enough punters around, or you had the wrong location, or what?
43:30I think primarily it was the wrong location. It was trying to find a location with the right footfall.
43:35Who's responsible for the location?
43:37Sir Alan, ultimately I gave Geri the responsibility the night before, because she wanted the responsibility to choose locations.
43:46Are you saying that's not right, JD?
43:48No, we were in the room, and you asked me, when did I say I wanted responsibility for, no roles? Look, if it's coming down to this, then let's tell the truth.
43:57No roles were given out. I nudged you and said, should we give out roles? And you went, yeah, yeah, yeah, roles. And I was given location. I did not ask for location.
44:06Okay, okay, Geri, okay. So, let's have a consensus of opinion here, okay? What was wrong about this task?
44:15I think there was location.
44:16Gazelle?
44:17There was location.
44:18Just a location. And Geri?
44:20Lack of control from the management.
44:22Jadine?
44:23Same as Geri.
44:24Manager?
44:25It was location, and it was also disruption within the team.
44:29Location and disruption.
44:31Location and attitude.
44:32So, locations come out top of the list, right?
44:35Could I argue that the team leader should have been saying, let's move ourself around?
44:39Sir Alan, I gave Geri a responsibility to look for locations.
44:43Excuse me, can you allow her to speak, please?
44:46People weren't happy with the locations that we'd picked, and there was dissent in the team.
44:50People? Were you being undermined, did you feel?
44:52I felt that Jadine was undermining me.
44:54Jadine started arguing with Naomi, and it was in a completely unprofessional manner.
45:00You said to me that Naomi was wrong.
45:01No, Jadine, you just listen to what I say, okay? Because it's about time you shut up for a moment.
45:04No.
45:05The point that I went and I moved away, and we went to go and look at the primary school,
45:10was because I thought that it was really going to kick off with the team,
45:13and we had to go and separate the team to quieten things down.
45:17Why do you think it fell apart in the afternoon?
45:19I think it fell apart in the afternoon because we didn't get together and drum up the business.
45:23Well, that's obvious. It's blatantly obvious.
45:25Were we wasting an hour going to school when it's closed, I objected quite strongly.
45:28You said to me, you shot me down, and you said to me, Jadine, don't talk.
45:32And I said, okay, your manager, and I got down the floor and was taking the paints out.
45:35Wait, I'm going to speak because you keep shooting me down.
45:37And then I said, no, actually, I'm not going to stop speaking, and I'm going to tell you what I think.
45:41Excuse me.
45:42Sorry, I was going to say, Jadine has some value points, but it's the way it's said that causes aggression,
45:48and the team dynamics, it's the morale, it upsets people.
45:51Maybe so, but then come forward and say that.
45:53I can't fix something.
45:54Well, she is.
45:55Yeah, now.
45:56She is saying it.
45:57If it's in the middle of the day, I can't fix it.
45:58I don't know it.
45:59Jadine, are you ever wrong?
46:01Sometimes I am, and I believe I've learnt things from my first time.
46:03I mean, it appears to me that you're very controversial.
46:06No, I think that I have worked as well.
46:08Well, not no, yes.
46:10Yes.
46:11No, I won't agree.
46:12Yes.
46:13I worked with some very strong people in this team.
46:14I believe that a lot of us were behind the task, and a lot of us wanted to get on and do it.
46:18At the end of the day, Jadine, this is all about someone getting a job working for me, okay?
46:22And there are qualities that I'm looking for.
46:25I don't need people that create aggravation.
46:28I understand what you're saying.
46:31But I feel the pulling of locations didn't allow us to do that.
46:34So we're back to the locations again, okay?
46:37We move on now to this kiss-o-gram stuff, okay?
46:41Now, what started, tell me how it worked.
46:45What did you actually do?
46:46What happened was that, say for example, I was with Jadine, that Jadine would go up to somebody and say,
46:51would you like to buy a kiss-o-gram?
46:53That's what was happening.
46:54Yeah.
46:55For that individual person, rather than going up to an individual and saying, would you like it?
46:58Asking, going up to someone and saying, basically, give me some money, would you like to kiss me?
47:02Is that what you were saying?
47:03Is that your initial idea?
47:04Don't sound too great to me.
47:06Sounds like another old profession I've heard about.
47:09I wasn't agreed with the kiss-o-gram thing.
47:12I really...
47:13I'm setting a member of our team.
47:14It wasn't the excuse.
47:15I'm not into kiss-o-gram.
47:16I'm not into kiss-o-gram business.
47:17I'm not into kiss-o-gram business.
47:18I'm not into kiss-o-gram business.
47:19I'm not into kiss-o-gram business.
47:20I'm not into kiss-o-gram business.
47:21We had to bloody do it.
47:22You were.
47:23I thought to be kissed.
47:24I could so bloody do it because I'm fine with it.
47:25Right, then you'd be fine.
47:26I didn't agree with it.
47:27I'd have to be fine with it.
47:28We were selling each other and it wasn't comfortable for me.
47:31Naomi, you have kind of shriveled into a shell here.
47:37You're the team leader and you're going to have to bring
47:41two people back in with you into this room.
47:43So you need to tune in to what you're going to say to protect yourself
47:47because you're going to be one of the three.
47:49Who are you bringing back into the boardroom?
47:51I'm going to bring back Jadine and Gerry.
47:54Okay.
47:55Jadine and Gerry.
47:57The other four ladies, off you go back to the house.
48:00You three ladies, I'll give you a call shortly.
48:03You'll come back in.
48:04Of course, one of you is going to get fired.
48:14Jadine, good luck.
48:20Jadine sounds like a nightmare.
48:22She's a disruptive influence, I think.
48:24She is and she upsets everyone.
48:26But is there taming of this Jadine?
48:29Or is a leopard never going to change its spot?
48:31I don't know if it's possible.
48:32I think Naomi, I'm surprised Naomi hasn't said that.
48:34Well, I mean...
48:35She started off well and she finished well.
48:36I've got to tell you, this Jadine will slaughter her, really,
48:39if she's not careful.
48:41And I think Gerry can talk up for herself also.
48:44Okay, I'll call them back in.
48:46Hello?
48:47Okay, Frances.
48:48Could you send the three ladies in, please?
48:53Naomi, why shouldn't I fire you as team leader?
49:12Sir Alan, I'm very hard working.
49:14I did my best yesterday to keep the team together.
49:16It was difficult for me to support Gerry on her locations
49:19because my energy was being spent elsewhere.
49:21Why did it go to part in the afternoon?
49:23It went to part in the afternoon because everyone was completely demotivated.
49:26Why?
49:27Jadine...
49:28When we started the task, I had everyone's full support.
49:31And then as soon as things went wrong, people start to place blame.
49:34And Jadine took advantage of that.
49:36When the group was split, Jadine was being rude about my management skills.
49:40When Jadine was with me, she was saying, what the hell are the other girls doing?
49:44There was a lot of bitching going on and there was no cohesion.
49:47There were errors.
49:48Maybe my strategy wasn't the strongest, but there was a bad egg
49:51that was kind of reefing dissent amongst all the people that I was trying to manage.
49:56And then not really offering any clear solutions.
49:59Your explanation seems to focus basically on Jadine, right?
50:02Jadine, speak to me.
50:06Why shouldn't I fire you?
50:09You shouldn't fire me, Sir Alan, because I've come here to learn about myself
50:12and my business skills.
50:14And, you know, I want to take what you've said now, apply it to what I'm going to do
50:18and move on.
50:19I don't want to...
50:20What I might say now is to go.
50:21No, what you said.
50:22I might say you're going because, you know, you're disrupting people.
50:25It's not just Naomi sitting here.
50:27It's some of the others, you know, the fish that got away today
50:30that didn't have a good word to say about you either.
50:32You know, you've made points about me, Nye.
50:34You've made points about me and you've made points about me, Margaret.
50:36But I want to take those points and polish myself.
50:38And if I'm kind of sent away without being given a chance to do that,
50:41I just feel it's really unfair.
50:42So who do you think should be fired on this task then?
50:44I think Naomi should be fired because...
50:46She's a team leader.
50:47No, not because she's a team leader.
50:48I was strongly behind you as a team leader, more than some people.
50:51Doesn't sound like it.
50:52I was.
50:53I couldn't trust you with anything yesterday because for a minute, Dot,
50:57as soon as something looked like it was going wrong,
50:59you started bitching and griping.
51:01No, not bitching.
51:02Yes, you did.
51:03Who should be fired, Naomi?
51:04To get you the best person and to ensure there's no more inviting,
51:07I'd say Jadine.
51:08Who should be fired, Gerry?
51:11Well, I'm asking you the question.
51:16You know, don't take it personally.
51:18You know, I'm asking your advice.
51:20Why shouldn't I fire you?
51:22Because I'm in here for want of not knowing what else to do.
51:26The project manager herself was weak.
51:29And I think the reason I'm in here is because you picked up on the location
51:34and it's easy, I'm a fool guy.
51:36And I think the other person that's in here, that's a personal thing.
51:39Well, I'm asking why I shouldn't fire you.
51:42Because you haven't seen the best of me.
51:44You've only, I've barely even started.
51:47Are you a bit of a slow starter?
51:49Erm, not, no, not when it comes to actually doing things,
51:54but I bide my time.
51:56I watch, there's so many dynamics in the group.
51:58There's so much sniping and bitching and I'm trying to be fair
52:02and I want to do this without lowering myself to the bitching and sniping.
52:06And sometimes that means just being quiet and stepping back
52:09and not getting involved.
52:10And that's why I may appear a slow starter, but I'm not.
52:13I'm a very capable person.
52:15Did you feel that I undermined you?
52:17Do you feel that I didn't perform well?
52:18No.
52:19I feel I could have supported you more, but I felt that I had to manage
52:22Jadine, who was causing a stir the whole time, Jadine.
52:26So you've focused your whole entire day on me?
52:28A lot of my time, Jadine.
52:29And you're forgetting, you're saying...
52:31You were stressed from the day before.
52:32Excuse me, are we going to do this mutual respect where we listen to each other?
52:34Well, you don't listen to me and that's how I feel.
52:36Jadine, you are like this 24-7.
52:38No.
52:39I'm not a wallflower and I do want to come forward with good ideas.
52:41Maybe do what you feel and let me finish speaking.
52:43You're putting this all on me.
52:44No, I'm saying I was trying to make a decision...
52:46Okay.
52:47I've had it.
52:48I've had enough.
52:49I've had enough of this.
52:50It's like martial women arguing with each other.
52:52Here's the way I see it.
52:54Naomi, you were out of control.
52:57In the middle of the afternoon, you were out of control.
52:59Gone.
53:00Completely gone.
53:01And that, to me, shows a poor team leader.
53:04You say it's because of her.
53:06I admit...
53:07Because she was disrupting you.
53:08I admit there were problems and I admit some of those...
53:10Well, I'm sorry.
53:11I'm sorry, really.
53:12You were the team leader and, you know, the responsibility lays with you to make sure
53:19that you've got your troops operating all the way throughout the course of the day.
53:24But further to this, there's this underlying story about location, right?
53:29You've laid it on Gerry.
53:31A lot of other people laid it on Gerry.
53:33Gerry, there was discussion about you three or so weeks ago about location.
53:40Again, in this particular task, the location issue was a disaster.
53:45Juddine, what I've been sitting here listening to is someone who continually undermines what
53:52everybody says, right?
53:54continually argues, continually is disruptive.
53:59And Juddine, I'm wondering whether I need a disruptive person.
54:03I don't think I'm disruptive.
54:04Well, I think...
54:05I'm getting a feeling that you are.
54:07And for that reason, you know, I'm having great difficulty in letting you stay here.
54:12Alright?
54:13I'm having great difficulty in letting you stay here.
54:15But at the end of the day, I've got to make a decision.
54:27Gerry, you contributed nothing to any of the tasks.
54:30You tell me you're a slow starter.
54:32I don't need slow starters.
54:34Gerry, you're fired.
54:35OK.
54:37I'm trying to keep strong people in this boardroom, OK?
54:56I'm not too sure about you, because there's a lot of bad news coming through from various
55:01people, not just your colleagues, OK?
55:03But also from my two very, very trusted colleagues, yeah?
55:08Naomi, I think you've got something.
55:10There's something in you.
55:11That's why you're still here.
55:13You lost control of this task, OK?
55:15You lost control of it.
55:16You're still here.
55:17Learn.
55:18You also learn.
55:19OK?
55:20Off you go.
55:26OK?
55:31OK.
55:56I was an easy target and, you know, strategically thinking, if I was a project manager that had
56:13done an awful job, I would look to be taking people into the boardroom who had been in there
56:19before and were already known by Sir Alan.
56:22Especially if I'd given them the task that they'd sort of failed on the first time.
56:28Jadine is disruptive.
56:30She has a lot of faults.
56:31Well, the thing is, she's a street fighter.
56:33That's about the only reason why she's still here.
56:35The three of us have got her card well and truly marked.
56:40To be honest, if I was managing a team, I would prefer Jadine wasn't in it,
56:44because she's just a bit difficult for me.
56:46Every single one of these tasks at some stage is going to become stressful.
56:49For me, if I was going to be a project leader, she would be the person that I would like
56:52to get rid of first.
57:01I think Jadine's got fire in her belly.
57:04If Sir Alan's looking for the true apprentice who's got raw talents that he can shape,
57:10then it's Jadine.
57:1112 candidates, one job.
57:17Sir Alan's search for his apprentice continues.
57:26Next week on The Apprentice.
57:28It's not toys, it's actually sweets.
57:31The teams get a sugar rush as they mass produce candy to flog at London Zoo.
57:36What's wrong with that?
57:37Beautiful.
57:38That one looks like a cow.
57:41But the zoo proves a sticky place to trade.
57:45She looks like a Teletubby.
57:47What do you look like then?
57:48I don't know.
57:49A norm.
57:50When the animals are lit loose.
57:51He's got the fucking cheek to stand there and say,
57:54don't sell this way, don't sell that way.
57:56I'm sorry, but what the hell has he sold?
57:58You know, you should actually say, alright, hands up.
58:01He told you, you didn't do it.
58:03You know, don't try and talk your way out of it.
58:06You're fired.
58:10Now, Jarry's been given her marching orders.
58:12She tells us what it was really like to be in Sir Alan's firing line in The Apprentice.
58:16You're fired on BBC Two now.
58:18And for exclusive video content and free downloads, including The ApprentiCast,
58:22log on to bbc.co.uk slash apprentice.
58:26Well, later on BBC One, out of control teenagers get sent to the dog house at 10.45.
