28 July - national forecast presented by Ellie Glaisyer
Transcript
00:00Good morning, welcome to your latest weather update from the Met Office.
00:04It's a bit of a drier and brighter start for many of us out there this morning,
00:08particularly compared to what we saw on Sunday.
00:10Plenty of sunshine to start the day across the country.
00:12We will see some isolated showers just feeding in from the northwest,
00:16one or two bubbling up across parts of England and Wales through the afternoon.
00:19But these will be fairly light and fairly well scattered,
00:22and there should be a bit more in the way of sunshine between those showers,
00:24particularly compared to what we saw on Sunday.
00:26The sun's still strong at this time of year,
00:28so where we do see that sunshine, it will be feeling pleasantly warm.
00:31Highs in the south of 24, perhaps 25 degrees,
00:34and even across Scotland and Northern Ireland,
00:36we could see temperatures reaching into the low 20s too.
00:39So feeling pleasantly warm if you are spending the day out and about on your summer holidays.
00:44As we then go through the rest of Monday evening,
00:46any late sunshine we see across Northern Ireland,
00:48perhaps turning a little hazy in places as we see this weather front arriving.
00:52Elsewhere, any showers that we've seen through the day gradually starting to ease,
00:56so turning dry for much of the country initially before we see this area of rain pushing its way eastwards,
01:02turning perhaps a little heavy across parts of Western Scotland, Northern parts of England.
01:06Quite a lot of cloud associated with this too,
01:08but staying a little drier with some clear spells across the southeast.
01:12However, in the towns and cities, generally still staying quite mild overnight,
01:15holding up well into the double figures.
01:17Although, where we do see those clear spells,
01:19perhaps turning a little fresher in some rural spots,
01:21maybe dropping down into the high single figures.
01:23But that does mean quite a cloudy and damp start,
01:27particularly across the northwest on Tuesday morning,
01:30particularly compared to today as well.
01:32That area of rain continues to slip its way south and eastwards as we go through the morning,
01:36and generally turns a little more showery as we go into the afternoon,
01:39but we could still see some heavier downpours,
01:41maybe a bit of sunshine developing across the very far northeast,
01:44but generally quite a bit more cloud around on Tuesday compared to what we're seeing through today.
01:49Temperatures will be pretty similar today though,
01:5023 or 24 degrees in the south,
01:53but with plenty more cloud and a bit more moisture around,
01:56that could mean it feels quite a bit more humid,
01:58quite a bit more muggy than what we saw on Monday,
02:00and particularly over the weekend as well.
02:02There are further showers and some longer spells of rain on the cards
