00:00Liverpool are entering a new era under Arne Schlott and with it comes a clear shift into how the club are approaching the transfer market.
00:10After years of targeted investment under Jurgen Klopp, the focus this summer has pivoted toward a more strategic, data-driven model aimed at long-term squad sustainability.
00:22Schlott, known for his progressive style and detail-focused approach, is working closely with the recruitment team to ensure any additions align not just with his system, but with Liverpool's broader vision for the future.
00:35Liverpool's ambitions remain high, but the method is changing.
00:40This summer is about laying the foundations for the next chapter with a strategy designed to ensure Schlott's era begins with balance, clarity and control.
00:48With some marquee signings, make it all that bit sweeter for their fans.
00:54We spoke to Will Rooney of Liverpool World for insight into the club's evolving approach.
01:00He explained that Liverpool's recruitment this summer has become more about headline moves, but these are decisions a few years in the making to ensure the Reds can remain on their perch at the top of English football.
01:13Yeah, I mean, in terms of the transfer strategy, it seems like a really interesting and exciting time for Liverpool fans.
01:24We mentioned how Manchester City and Chelsea sort of have constantly flexed their stuff, spending hundreds of millions every summer.
01:32Liverpool's sort of gone under the radar because they had that quality of squad signed and developed under Jurgen Klopp.
01:37And now it seems like it's maybe a bit of a start of a new era with this new strategy, you know, break your record straight away in Schlott's first summer and then make inquiries like this.
01:48It's certainly an exciting time for the Reds fans.
01:52Yeah, well, yeah, in clock holes at Liverpool 2.0 after that disappointing 22-23 season when Liverpool missed out on the Champions League.
02:00They obviously went and replenished in midfield that summer, bringing four in, three were very much for the future as well as the present.
02:10And Liverpool didn't make too many signs last summer because Arna Slott was having a look at the squad, seeing what he needed.
02:18And, yeah, that's given Liverpool the financial capacity to go out and really spend this summer, obviously, winning the Premier League.
02:25Because it's helped being back in the Champions League for revenue, et cetera.
02:29If you've got no issues with PSI, I mean, you look at some of the other players who are linked, you know, Rodrigo at Real Madrid.
02:34It's another one who, depending on maybe what happens with Luis Diaz, if you've got to go and get in, that would be another sign.
02:41And who you would rate as near on world class.
02:46I would think Rodrigo has been that excellent for Real Madrid.
02:49He's just fallen out of favour a little bit there.
02:51And he could make a real impact if he was to come in.
02:54And if you look at the Premier League next season, you would have to say Liverpool are right up there as the favourites to go and defend the title as well.
03:03Now, I think maybe they do need to offload a couple of players.
03:06But, look, Liverpool fans are very happy with what's been happening in the transfer market so far.
03:11Yeah, I mean, you mentioned Darwin Nunez there before.
03:14Obviously, he scored in the Preston game as well.
03:17Paid a lovely tribute to Diogo Jota with his celebration.
03:20I mean, he's clearly got a great relationship with Liverpool's supporters.
03:25And we've mentioned before the moments that he had over the last couple of seasons.
03:29You know, those late winners at Newcastle, Brentford.
03:33You know, huge moments that really decided where things were going in terms of Liverpool's title charge.
03:38But we still don't really know the situation with what's going on in terms of his Liverpool future.
03:43What's the sort of latest you can tell us on that?
03:45I think Liverpool, they'll have a price set for Darwin Nunez because his playability, you know, everyone's seen it.
03:56Maybe they haven't seen it enough consistently.
03:59But he's a player who can run them off.
04:01And that's why Liverpool splashed out all that money they did from Benfica three years ago.
04:05It just hasn't quite worked out.
04:08They'll want to get the majority of that transfer feedback.
04:11I mean, if you look at it from a PSR perspective, the amortisation, Liverpool won't need to recoup everything they paid for Darwin Nunez.
04:20But they'd like to get as close to that as possible because he's still only 25.
04:24So, you know, I'm a slot criticised him after that Aston Villa game, I think, that bad miss last season.
04:32So, I don't think anyone would be surprised if Darwin Nunez leaves the club.
04:37Absolutely not.
04:39And a lot of that of Interpan will dictate what sort of striker they'll probably go and get.
04:44So, I'll see you next time.
