00:00Now, Liverpool are entering a defining summer with Arnie Schlott, with the club's upcoming business set to shape the next chapter at Anfield.
00:11The Dutchman looks to build on the foundations of a title-winning campaign.
00:15The focus has shifted towards integrating a key and few new signings to both drive the squad forward and get some best results out of the side.
00:25The recruitment strategy has targeted technical, versatile players, capable to fit into a more fluid, high-possession system, and with early arrivals already giving fans a glimpse of the involved identity.
00:38With tactical adaptability and squad depth in mind, the club's new additions aren't just filling gaps.
00:43They're being brought in to raise the level, increase competition and align with Schlott's progressive ideas.
00:49We spoke with Will Rooney of Liverpool World, who shared insight into the standout arrivals so far, how they fit into Schlott's tactical vision, and why Liverpool believe this new generation can keep them at the summit of English football.
01:03So, Will, Florian Wirtz signing for Liverpool, an incredible fee, a record that Liverpool have paid, a record in the Premier League for a player to come over.
01:14An incredible few seasons on the bounce-up by Leverkusen.
01:18He's a player that's been flirting around, being one of these next wonder kids, these young players.
01:25Firstly, your thoughts on the signing.
01:27I mean, it's obviously been a while since Liverpool have splashed this amount of cash, and in terms of being linked with players, they've finally broken that boundary and gone for three figures like the likes of Chelsea have in previous seasons as well.
01:43So, what's your thoughts on Florian Wirtz?
01:44How excited are Liverpool fans with this new addition?
01:49Yeah, I think it's a real statement signing, to be honest with you.
01:51I think when Wirtz was first linked, people were sort of saying, well, that's not going to happen, because even though Liverpool are Premier League champions, everyone's accepted that additions and eases, but attack on midfield wasn't really one of them this summer.
02:10You know, you've got Dominic Sabostak, who was favoured there, you've got Kersis Jones, Harvey Elliott, Jotter can play there.
02:15But, clearly, Liverpool have seen this as a chance to sign an absolute top, top prospect.
02:26And Liverpool have missed out on some of them, obviously, Jude Bellingham being one of them, you know, missed out on Kai Seido.
02:32And, too many, went to Real Madrid and Liverpool have managed to beat Bayern Munich and Manchester City to a player who is, you know, many people realize is the best player in Germany.
02:46And I think that's why maybe Liverpool have moved forward, because some players, it doesn't matter if you don't need that player, sometimes you just can't pass up the opportunity to sign a real top-class player.
03:02And that's what he is, £100 million, a club record.
03:05But, it feels like the last one that Liverpool signed of this ilk was maybe, you know, an Alison Becker or maybe a Virgil van Dijk.
03:14And it shows that Liverpool are really diamond at the top table now.
03:18Now, they've made some fantastic signs, you know, Salah, Tadio Mane, you know.
03:24But, at the time that they were signed, would every single club in the world have jumped to have signed them?
03:31Or, would there have been a couple of hesitations around him? But, playing away, it's different.
03:36And, as you said, where will he play now for Liverpool?
03:40Now, his favourite position is the number 10 role.
03:43Talks about Dominic Saboslay, because Saboslay, maybe some sports were disappointed with his attack and output at times.
03:51But, he covered so much ground to allow Mo Salah to stay up the pitch high and do the damage from there and look at the season he had.
03:59But, if you're paying £100 million and surely Dominic Saboslay, I know he's probably going to be coming in as the number 10 he had.
04:06Does Arna Slot potentially play two number 10s and, you know, utilise a false striker.
04:13He did that at Manchester City where Liverpool won in the middle of the season.
04:17If there's a clear plan for him, then it's not going to be on the hop.
04:20It's not going to be, right, where can we?
04:22A bit like Liverpool sign for Roberto for me, you know, a few years ago, he was brought in by Michael Edwards and Brendan Rodgers didn't really know where to play.
04:31But, Liverpool have quite clearly got a plan for Fleming-Wertz and I think it will be prominent to see where he's going to play after the first few games in pre-season.
