00:00Liverpool have wasted little time setting the tone for a transformative summer, with Florian
00:07Virch, Jeremy Frimpong, Milos Kerkes and Giorgi Mamosvelli all through the door. Arnislotte's
00:12side have acted decisively, backing the new manager with over £180m of early investment.
00:20But high-profile arrivals mean room must be made in the squad, and Liverpool have now
00:24begun moving players on. The most surprising departure so far is centre-back Gerald Kwanza,
00:31who has completed a permanent move to buy a Leverkusen in a deal worth up to £35m, including
00:37£5m in add-ons. Crucially, Liverpool have inserted a buy-back clause, reportedly €60m, which
00:44activates from 2027. The 21-year-old impressed at the under-21
00:50Euros, playing every minute of their tournament win for England, and established himself as
00:55one of the country's top emerging defenders. His sale raised eyebrows, most notably from
01:00former England goalkeeper Ben Foster. Speaking on the football fill-in, Foster said he's so
01:06comfortable on the ball, and so big, he causes mayhem when he drives into midfield. I'd almost
01:12want to cancel the deal and say, you might not play every game, but you'll play a big
01:17chunk. I think he's the future for Liverpool, or would have been.
01:23Liverpool's decision appears tactical, with the club stepping up their pursuit of Crystal
01:27Palace centre-back Mark Gahey, who is reportedly keen on the move and has an agreement in principle
01:33with the Reds.
01:35To the transfer market again, centre-back will be a priority now if Gerald Gahey want to leave
01:41and talk about Mark Gahey. Can Liverpool get the right price for him? Did he go and look
01:46at other options? And then maybe a striker as well, depending on what Arna Slough fancies.
01:51Alongside Kwanza, departures such as Comahin-Keller and Nat Phillips reflect a wider reshuffle.
01:58With targets still on the board and funds being raised, Liverpool's summer strategy is clear.
02:04Reshape decisively, invest ambitiously and build a squad ready to defend their Premier League
02:09crown, with or without some of their brightest prospects.
02:13Thanks.
