00:00Since Arnie Slott took charge at Anfield, Liverpool have entered the summer transfer window with renewed ambition and a clear vision for the future.
00:12Following a season marked by impressive performances and a Premier League title, the club is eager to strengthen the squad in key positions to maintain their momentum and compete on all fronts.
00:24Liverpool's summer plans focus on blending promising new signings with experienced players who fit Schlott's tactical style, aiming to enhance both depth and creativity.
00:35The club is determined to build a balanced squad capable of sustaining success and adapting to the demands of a long campaign.
00:43We spoke to Will Rooney of Liverpool World to discuss Liverpool's transfer priorities and strategy as they prepare to shape a squad ready to challenge again next season.
00:54And looking ahead to the summer window, I've obviously discussed how winning the league will change the way they navigate and they're going to be coming into massive bargaining chip to go and say, you know, we want to try and go and win the league again.
01:10But it's no secret that Arsenal, you know, Chelsea, even Manchester City, they're going to be strengthening and probably getting better.
01:18And, you know, it becomes a real challenge then for Liverpool to go and defend this title next season.
01:24In terms of the summer window, who do you think they need to bring in?
01:27Is it a chance of, you know, going out for a star man the likes of Florian Wirtz or, you know, someone who's really going to change things, that bit of quality, that extra bit of quality, the world-class sort of status that maybe Liverpool are just slightly lacking throughout the side.
01:44And, you know, minding obviously Van Dijk and Mohamed Salah maybe.
01:48Yeah, well, it looks like they're moving really quickly, Liverpool, which I think everyone knows is going to be a big summer.
01:57But the way they're accelerating is really impressive.
02:01Obviously, Richard Tune, the Sporting Director, has had a year to be planned for this.
02:06It was a quiet, open summer for him and Arna Slott.
02:10But I think they've known for a while, Liverpool, that Trent Alexander-Arnold wasn't going to stay at the club and they identified Jeremy Frimpong to come in as a replacement.
02:21Now, he'll be a completely different right-back to Trent Alexander-Arnold.
02:26I don't think Liverpool ever contemplated getting a like-for-like to Trent Alexander-Arnold because there isn't enough right-back out there who can do what Trent Alexander-Arnold does.
02:37So they've gone for more of a, you know, a flying full-back, someone who will foray up and down, someone who can also play fair and forwards.
02:48He can play on the right wing as well.
02:50That'll help when maybe most Salahs are half-con or he needs a little bit of a break, potentially, in the odd game here and there.
02:59For £30 million, looks a real, true bit of business for meeting his release clause.
03:06Florian Wertz has taken plenty of back.
03:10I think everyone thought he was going to be buying Munich Bayern this summer.
03:16Maybe Man City or with Xabi Alonso going to Real Madrid, maybe the Spanish capital.
03:22But, look, Liverpool have made the pitch and quite clearly Florian Wertz is impressed by what Liverpool have got to offer them.
03:31Where do you play at Liverpool?
03:33Not too sure about that, but quite clearly Liverpool have got a plan.
03:38Now you're looking at a left-back as well.
03:40Milos Kierke is very much on the agenda.
03:43Supports be hoping that one can get over the line.
03:46And then you would like to see a striker come in because, despite Liverpool winning the title, it was a problem position.
03:56Darwin Nunes didn't cut it again.
03:59I think he made eight Premier League starts, seven goals in all competitions after three years at the club.
04:06I think all parties might agree it'd be best if he moved on to a new chapter.
04:12Diogo Jota injury issues again, and then when he got back fit, he just didn't hit the heights that he showed in the first half of the season.
04:21He's had injuries for a few years now, niggling injuries that seem to go on for longer.
04:29And Louis Diaz played through the middle of lock.
04:32Plenty of credit, but he's better as a left winger.
04:34So, maybe a left footer, who can add something.
04:38It'll be an interesting summer in terms of incoming and our goals, because I think a few players might leave as well.
