00:00Liverpool are entering a defining period under Arne Schlott as they prepare to defend their
00:07Premier League crown and build on last season's title-winning momentum.
00:11Following a historic campaign, the focus now shifts to evolution rather than revolution,
00:17ensuring the squad remains sharp, hungry and competitive across multiple fronts.
00:22Schlott is overseeing a summer of targeted recruitment, tactical refinement and continued
00:27development of the club's next generation of talent.
00:32His style, a blend of high-pressing, controlled possession and tactical flexibility, is being
00:37embedded across the squad, with players already responding well to his approach.
00:43We spoke to Will Rooney of Liverpool World to better understand the club's mindset heading
00:49into the new campaign.
00:51He explained that while Liverpool have a title to defend, they're not standing still, with
00:56new faces expected, others returning from injury and a clear tactical identity taking
01:01shape.
01:02Liverpool are determined to stay at the summit of English football.
01:07Will, no matter what happens outside in terms of the transfer window, in terms of other clubs
01:15strutting their stuff as well, Liverpool will go into this season as defending Premier League
01:19champions.
01:20How, if they were to draw a board for Arnie Schlott in the summer this season, what will
01:24that say in terms of goals for the season?
01:27Because, you know, last season we spoke a number of times and a lot of fans would have
01:31settled just for being Premier League champions.
01:33Does he really need to go one more this season?
01:36Is defending it going to be the main goal?
01:38And then, you know, where does the Champions League come in?
01:40Do these other trophies come in as well?
01:41Because, you know, the more the merrier when it comes to a bit of a trophy haul at Liverpool.
01:45Yeah, I mean, first, I think we've got to discuss a sense of subject, which is obviously the
01:50past of Diogo Jota, which has been tragic and that's been the focus for the past couple
01:56of weeks and how will that affect the squad because it was such a tragedy, he was such
02:03a popular member of the squad.
02:05Will that really rock the team or will that galvanise and think, right, let's go and do
02:13it for Diogo?
02:14You would like to hope it would be the latter.
02:17And look, come back to your original point, the targets from FSG will be again to challenge
02:26for the Premier League.
02:27Liverpool have got no excuses now because of the signings that they've made.
02:32With their 200 million, Frank Pong coming in and Milos Kierkez looks really good in his
02:40cameo at Preston and Marmadash really to provide backup.
02:43If they go and get that striker, then there'll be no excuses really for Liverpool not to go
02:48and challenge and then can they go better in the Champions League because it was disappointing
02:54he only got to the last 16 considering that they won the league phase and then they drew
02:59PSG who subsequently went and won the trophy, it was unlucky for Liverpool but the time
03:08before that during the Champions League they were knocked out by PSG, Real Madrid, I beg your pardon.
03:16So I think that Liverpool will be hoping to go a little bit deeper in Europe and can they bring
03:22in another domestic trophy, obviously beaten by Newcastle in the Carabao Cup and knocked out
03:28by Plymouth Argyle in the shock in the FA Cup so can Liverpool go and do something there so
03:35I think a minimum of one trophy, one of the two big trophies is what everyone will be aiming for but
03:42Arnaud Slotten, an ambitious head coach, he'll have his eyes on every prize and rightly so if Liverpool
03:49are bringing in the players that they have done and they bring in maybe one or two more then
03:54then there'll be no excuse for Liverpool not to challenge in every competition. It's helped
03:58being back in the Champions League for revenue etc, they've got no issues with PSI, I mean you look at
04:04some of the other players who are linked you know Rodrigo or Real Madrid, another one who
04:08depends on maybe what happens with Luis Diaz and if Liverpool go and get in, that would be another sign and
04:13who you would rate as near on world class, I would think Rodrigo has been that excellent for Real Madrid,
04:21he's just fallen out of favour a little bit there and he could make a real impact if he was to come in and
04:28if you look at the Premier League next season, you would have to see Liverpool are right up there as
04:33the favourites to go and defend the title as well. I think maybe they do need to offload a couple of players,
04:38but look Liverpool fans are very happy with what's been happening in the transfer market so far.
