How does becoming Premier League champions affect Liverpool’s summer plans

A look at what winning the title means for their business.

00:00And in terms of winning the Premier League, obviously a massive summer ahead.

00:04It does affect your summer recruitment.

00:06Obviously, some players will look at Liverpool now as well.

00:09So maybe Liverpool do have that bit of a bargaining chip saying,

00:12we've won the league, we're going to try and defend our title.

00:16Yes, we want to add some top players to go and get that title again

00:19and maybe even pushing the Champions League a bit more next season.

00:24But how does it affect the summer recruitment winning the Premier League?

00:27Obviously, it's a great achievement, but they've got a bit of a bargaining chip as well,

00:33knowing that they are the Premier League champions.

00:37Well, that's it.

00:38I mean, what player doesn't want to join the team that are champions?

00:42And as things stand, a favourite is to go and do it again next season.

00:46It might be different how Manchester City go and recruit, how Arsenal go and recruit, etc.

00:51But look, if you're having a bet now, we'd probably be back in Liverpool to go and do it again.

00:56And as you say, the Champions League was a little bit disappointing.

01:00They only reached the round of 16, ran into a very good PSG side who could go on and win the competition.

01:06So they were unlucky there.

01:08The next season, Liverpool will be going into the campaign, trying to create history by surpassing Man United

01:14and going out and out for the most titles won in England.

01:18And that's a big thing because you think all those titles won under Sir Alex Ferguson, Man United, Liverpool were left in the wake.

01:28And now Liverpool have got a chance, given the issues at Man United, to become the dominant force again in England.

01:36Now, I know Man City have obviously been that in recent years.

01:39But, I mean, in terms of clubs of real stature around the globe, you know, Man United and Liverpool are right up there.

01:47And why wouldn't you want to be part of this journey?

01:49Why wouldn't you want to come and play for a manager in Arna Slott who has proven himself to have real acumen, real prowess?

01:57A lot of people doubted him maybe last summer.

02:01Was he going to be the right recruit?

02:03Was he going to be the right air appointments?

02:05I mean, even after the Tottenham game himself, he admitted that some would have been looking at it thinking,

02:11it's the right choice.

02:14Because he knew he was an unheralded name.

02:17But he's gone and proven himself leaps, you know, manifold.

02:23So, if you're, say, a striker and Liverpool needs one, why wouldn't you want to go and lead the line for Liverpool?

02:32If you're a left-back, why wouldn't you want to go and play in defence that, you know, has been excellent defensively

02:36and you're going to have a licence to get forward as well.

02:39Why wouldn't you want to go and do that?
