Hello and welcome to the Met Office Week Ahead Forecaster.
00:02
A little bit of something for everyone this week.
00:05
Some dry and bright interludes for those who have started their summer holidays,
00:10
but also some useful rain for southern and eastern parts of the UK in particular.
00:15
That rain often coming in the form of showers because the jet stream now is to the south of the UK
00:19
rather than to the north, so no heatwave this week.
00:22
And low pressure is in charge, that low pressure centred over the top of the UK
00:26
and likely to bring some longer spells of rain to western Scotland as we start off Tuesday.
00:32
Not as heavy as the rain overnight, but still the potential for some persistent wet stuff during the morning.
00:37
That tending to become a bit more fragmented into the afternoon,
00:40
extending an area of cloud and some outbreaks of rain into southern Scotland and northern England.
00:44
Showers then breaking out just about anywhere as temperatures rise.
00:47
Some warm sunshine out there, low to mid-20s possible, but those showers where they do occur,
00:52
they could be heavy rumbles of thunder possible particularly towards the east.
00:55
A similar picture as we start off Wednesday.
00:58
Some sunny spells out there, particularly towards the south and the west,
01:02
but an area of cloud and rain moves south across northern and central and eastern England,
01:07
followed by showers and some heavy downpours at first in the south
01:10
before the showers become more focused towards the east.
01:12
Similar temperatures to Tuesday.
01:15
Then heading into Thursday, a bit of a change arrives as low pressure slowly moves to the east.
01:21
A ridge of high pressure extends to the west, so a bit of a west-east contrast on Thursday.
01:28
Still some showers or even some longer spells of rain at first in the east of the UK.
01:34
Running into the Midlands, east Anglia, and the south-east later in the morning and into the afternoon.
01:39
Breaking up into showers, perhaps the odd rumble of thunder during the afternoon.
01:43
Warm in the south-east, 25 Celsius.
01:45
Further west, it's drier.
01:47
Some sunshine coming through, particularly for Wales and the south-west.
01:51
But for Scotland and Northern Ireland, we start Friday with a lot of cloud cover.
01:54
Outbreaks of rain pushing into western Scotland, Northern Ireland.
01:58
Not much rain, mostly light and patchy.
02:01
That drizzly stuff also arriving into west Wales and Cornwall by the end of the afternoon.
02:05
But ahead of it, it's actually going to be feeling a little bit warmer once again,
02:09
with some sunshine in the Midlands, east Anglia, and the south-eastern highs of 27 Celsius.
02:14
And that starts a trend back to a north-south contrast as we go into the weekend.
02:21
The jet stream now pushing a little bit further north, but not to the north of the UK.
02:26
More like running across the north of the UK.
02:30
So we're still going to see low-pressure systems influence northern parts of the country,
02:34
bringing some rain and some breezy conditions to western Scotland, Northern Ireland,
02:38
north-west England, whilst higher pressure this weekend brings more settled weather generally
02:44
to southern parts of the country, and feeling a little warmer as a result.
02:49
So big differences day-to-day and from place-to-place this week.
02:54
But as I say, a bit of something for everyone.
02:56
Some rain, but also some sunshine at times.
02:58
Some rain, but some rain are empty on the river.
03:14
This is the home of the UK, it's also a snow day.
03:20
Clear butter.
03:21
Come on.
03:23
I know, we know what to do now.
03:25
But, I'll say really nice.
