00:00Hello and welcome to the Met Office Week Ahead Forecaster.
00:02A little bit of something for everyone this week.
00:05Some dry and bright interludes for those who have started their summer holidays,
00:10but also some useful rain for southern and eastern parts of the UK in particular.
00:15That rain often coming in the form of showers because the jet stream now is to the south of the UK
00:19rather than to the north, so no heatwave this week.
00:22And low pressure is in charge, that low pressure centred over the top of the UK
00:26and likely to bring some longer spells of rain to western Scotland as we start off Tuesday.
00:32Not as heavy as the rain overnight, but still the potential for some persistent wet stuff during the morning.
00:37That tending to become a bit more fragmented into the afternoon,
00:40extending an area of cloud and some outbreaks of rain into southern Scotland and northern England.
00:44Showers then breaking out just about anywhere as temperatures rise.
00:47Some warm sunshine out there, low to mid-20s possible, but those showers where they do occur,
00:52they could be heavy rumbles of thunder possible particularly towards the east.
00:55A similar picture as we start off Wednesday.
00:58Some sunny spells out there, particularly towards the south and the west,
01:02but an area of cloud and rain moves south across northern and central and eastern England,
01:07followed by showers and some heavy downpours at first in the south
01:10before the showers become more focused towards the east.
01:12Similar temperatures to Tuesday.
01:15Then heading into Thursday, a bit of a change arrives as low pressure slowly moves to the east.
01:21A ridge of high pressure extends to the west, so a bit of a west-east contrast on Thursday.
01:28Still some showers or even some longer spells of rain at first in the east of the UK.
01:34Running into the Midlands, east Anglia, and the south-east later in the morning and into the afternoon.
01:39Breaking up into showers, perhaps the odd rumble of thunder during the afternoon.
01:43Warm in the south-east, 25 Celsius.
01:45Further west, it's drier.
01:47Some sunshine coming through, particularly for Wales and the south-west.
01:51But for Scotland and Northern Ireland, we start Friday with a lot of cloud cover.
01:54Outbreaks of rain pushing into western Scotland, Northern Ireland.
01:58Not much rain, mostly light and patchy.
02:01That drizzly stuff also arriving into west Wales and Cornwall by the end of the afternoon.
02:05But ahead of it, it's actually going to be feeling a little bit warmer once again,
02:09with some sunshine in the Midlands, east Anglia, and the south-eastern highs of 27 Celsius.
02:14And that starts a trend back to a north-south contrast as we go into the weekend.
02:21The jet stream now pushing a little bit further north, but not to the north of the UK.
02:26More like running across the north of the UK.
02:30So we're still going to see low-pressure systems influence northern parts of the country,
02:34bringing some rain and some breezy conditions to western Scotland, Northern Ireland,
02:38north-west England, whilst higher pressure this weekend brings more settled weather generally
02:44to southern parts of the country, and feeling a little warmer as a result.
02:49So big differences day-to-day and from place-to-place this week.
02:54But as I say, a bit of something for everyone.
02:56Some rain, but also some sunshine at times.
02:58Some rain, but some rain are empty on the river.
03:14This is the home of the UK, it's also a snow day.
03:20Clear butter.
03:21Come on.
03:23I know, we know what to do now.
03:25But, I'll say really nice.
