00:00Morning, welcome to a latest weather update from the Met Office.
00:04Now if you're watching on YouTube, don't forget to hit subscribe.
00:07Today will be one of those classic summer days where many places will be dry and bright,
00:11but where we do see a downpour, it's going to be pretty lively.
00:14Seen some heavy showers through the night actually over parts of South Wales,
00:17South West England and the Midlands.
00:19They'll fade for a time, but then it's in southernmost counties of England
00:22up into East Anglia where we're most likely to catch a slow-moving thunderstorm this afternoon.
00:27Can't promise completely dry conditions further north,
00:30but any showers over northern England, Scotland, Northern Ireland should be pretty well scattered
00:35and many areas across the Midlands northwards will actually stay dry.
00:39Predominantly cloudy, but some sunny spells coming through, especially so this morning.
00:44Temperature wise, well if you do see some sunshine, we could see those numbers popping up into the low 20s,
00:49maybe across the southeast up to 25 degrees,
00:51but generally high teens, 18, 19, 20 Celsius, fairly average for this time of year.
00:58The winds are fairly light, but they are bringing relatively cool air down from the north.
01:03Where we do see some heavy showers breaking out, though, as I said, they could be on the lively side.
01:07Now, not everywhere in the south we'll catch one, but South Devon up through to Dorset, Hampshire,
01:13that's one zone where we're likely to catch some of these slow-moving thunderstorms,
01:17but also up across the home counties towards East Anglia.
01:20Again, not everywhere we'll catch these downpours, but because they're slow-moving,
01:25they could drop quite a lot of rain by the time we get to this evening,
01:28and that could cause some problems.
01:30So, hit and miss, thundery downpours across the south, further north.
01:35The showers are not as powerful and much more scattered,
01:37and they'll tend to fade as we go through this evening,
01:39and the thunderstorms in the south should tend to disappear as well.
01:43So, generally becoming drier overnight, so there'll be some clearer spells.
01:46Still got the air feeding down, kind of from the north,
01:49so it'll be a cool-ish night.
01:52Temperatures mostly getting down to 13 or 14 Celsius in towns and cities,
01:56a little lower than that in rural spots.
01:58On to Thursday, and many places dry and bright.
02:01A better chance of seeing a bit more sunshine,
02:04not as many thunderstorms around across the south,
02:06but likely to see a bit more cloud feeding into East Anglia,
02:10Lincolnshire, perhaps down towards the southeast.
02:12could provide some outbreaks of rain and drizzle.
02:15The old scattered shower elsewhere, but I think there will be more so scattered,
02:19more scattered than they will be today, and many places will be dry.
02:23A better chance of the cloud breaking up a little bit more as well,
02:26to reveal a little bit more in the way of sunshine.
02:29And so, feeling a bit warmer tomorrow as well.
02:30Temperatures, again, mostly high teens, low 20s,
02:33but generally a degree or so higher than today,
02:36with a bit of sunshine, with those light winds feeling pretty pleasant.
02:40If you want more information on the longer-term outlook,
