00:01Hello, welcome to your latest weather update from the Met Office.
00:04Heavy and thundery showers have been on the cards for many of us to start the weekend.
00:08It doesn't look like much is changing as we head into the start of the new week.
00:12Low pressure is very much in charge of our weather at the moment, various weather fronts
00:15spinning around, spiralling around that area of low pressure, bringing bands of rain and
00:20showers across the UK as we head through Monday, Tuesday and even into Wednesday and Thursday
00:25too.
00:27Back to the rest of Saturday though, and it's all eyes down towards the south-west
00:30as we see this weather front pushing an area of rain and showers up across parts of Wales
00:35and south-west England.
00:36Some hail, some thunder mixed in here too.
00:38Some heavy downpours are likely and we'll continue to see some outbreaks of rain across eastern
00:43parts of Scotland into the early hours of Sunday morning.
00:46Perhaps staying a little bit drier in between, however remaining rather quite cloudy overnight
00:50and that does mean another quite mild night to come.
00:52Temperatures widely in the mid, if not high teens for many of us.
00:56So perhaps once again another uncomfortable night for sleeping across the UK.
01:01That does mean quite a cloudy and perhaps quite a damp start for many of us on Sunday
01:05morning.
01:06Particularly across the south-west, we'll continue to see those showers spiralling around
01:09that area of low pressure pushing their way northwards and we'll continue to see some
01:13longer spells of rain pushing north across parts of Scotland too.
01:17As we go towards the afternoon, almost anywhere could see a heavy or thundery downpour but we'll
01:21start to see a bit more brightness, a bit more sunshine developing between those showers.
01:25Still remaining a little bit breezy across the south-west too but where you do catch that
01:29sunshine, it will be feeling warm.
01:31The sun's strong at this time of year so 24, 25, perhaps even 26 degrees across the south
01:36and even in the north we'll see those temperatures reaching into the low 20s.
01:42As we then go through the rest of Sunday evening, we'll continue to see those showers spiralling
01:46around that area of low pressure pushing their way northwards, perhaps merging to some longer
01:51spells of rain across parts of Northern Ireland and Western Scotland.
01:54Further showers then arriving across the very far south as we head into the early hours of
01:58Monday morning.
01:59But parts of Wales, central, northern, south-western parts of England perhaps turning a little bit
02:03drier into the first part of Monday.
02:06And clear spells here, however still quite a mild night on the cards for most of us, although
02:10perhaps not quite as mild as Saturday night.
02:12Temperatures still holding up into the double figures, though perhaps a little less uncomfortable
02:16for sleeping compared to previous nights.
02:20But once again, quite a cloudy and damp start for some of us on Monday morning, particularly
02:24across the south-east and also across parts of Northern Ireland and Western Scotland, where
02:28we'll continue to see some longer spells of rain.
02:31A bit of a brighter start across parts of south-west England, Wales, Northern England but as we
02:35go towards the afternoon, almost anywhere could see a heavy downpour.
02:39These could contain hail, could contain thunder and some longer spells of rain across parts
02:43of Northern Ireland and Western Scotland too.
02:47Once again, where you do catch the sunshine though, it will still be feeling pleasantly
02:50warm.
02:5124, 25, perhaps even 26 degrees again and once again across the north, temperatures getting
02:56into the low 20s, however feeling a little cooler if you are stuck underneath that cloud
03:00and rain through the afternoon.
03:03As we then look ahead towards the rest of the week, heavy thundery showers are still on
03:06the cards for many of us.
