Northern Ireland and Scotland will wake up to widespread persistent rain, with a yellow weather warning in force for this. The north of England will also be cloudy but it should be much drier. Wales and southern England on the other hand will have sunny blue skies to kick off the new day on Friday. This is the Met Office UK Weather forecast for the morning of 04/07/2025. Bringing you today’s weather forecast is Honor Criswick.

00:00Hello there, good morning. After all the sunshine across central and southern parts, a change
00:05is on its way as we head towards the weekend. But the unsettled picture has already arrived
00:10across parts of Scotland. Some outbreaks of persistent and at times heavy rain, particularly
00:14across western Scotland, where we do have a yellow warning in force for heavy rain.
00:19And it's likely to turn quite blustery too as this system skirts its way eastwards, eventually
00:23pushing into northern Ireland, northwestern parts of England and Wales. It's going to
00:28start to turn quite damp as we head into the afternoon. And not only this, but it's also
00:32going to turn rather blustery, particularly around exposed coasts. But to the south of
00:37this, across much of England and Wales, it is going to be another dry and bright end to the
00:41day. Plenty of sunny spells and feeling warm in the sunshine. Highs of around 26, possibly
00:4627 degrees Celsius. Now it's really into Friday evening where we'll begin to see that change.
00:53The clouds, the rain starting to sink its way southeastwards across the rest of England.
00:58And Wales, which means many of us are going to be waking up to quite a wet start for the
01:02beginning of the weekend. The rain still persistent across western parts of Scotland. That rain warning
01:08continuing through much of Saturday. And the difference is it's not going to feel fresher
01:13any longer. We're going to see a return of that mild and muggy feel to the air. Many towns
01:18and cities across England and Wales, not really pushing much past 15 to 16 degrees Celsius by
01:23the time we reach the morning. So a mild, if not quite warm start to the day. And the
01:29cloud and the rain is set to continue, particularly across the west where it is likely to be the
01:34most persistent across any western hills. But to the east of those hills, that's where
01:38you're likely to see some brighter spells, particularly across eastern parts of Yorkshire,
01:43parts of Lancashire and across parts of East Anglia too. You might start to see some brightness
01:48as we head into the afternoon, but it is likely to be quite cloudy all through the day and
01:54still that muggy feel to the air. Highs reaching around 24 degrees Celsius. So still starting
01:59to feel a little bit sticky.
02:02And then for the rest of the weekend. Yes, we have still got further showers on the cards.
02:08We'll see a northwesterly flow though, starting to bring that slightly fresher feel to the air
02:12on Sunday. But still across parts of the south and southwest, it remains to be quite warm and muggy.
02:18But there should be more chance of seeing some brighter spells for the second half of the weekend.
02:23But if you want more details on this weekend's weather, you can catch Aidan on YouTube. Otherwise,
02:28that's it from me.
