Plenty of clear skies and sunshine for many of us this morning, with some showers in the east of England. Turning hazy in the north ahead of the arrival of a low pressure system later tonight, but a fine day for much of England and Wales. This is the Met Office UK Weather forecast for the morning of 02/06/2025. Bringing you today’s weather forecast is Kathryn Chalk.

00:00Good morning, well there's plenty of sunshine through today but it is going to be going downhill
00:06with a deep area of low pressure moving through later but for now we're underneath this ridge of
00:10high pressure helping keep things settled but a deep area of low pressure arriving from the
00:15northwest bringing unseasonably strong winds especially across northwestern scotland
00:20and down the irish sea we could see gusts 55 to 60 miles per hour and along this cold front
00:26some heavy spells of rain so that's monday night and into tuesday so keep an eye on the detail
00:32of the forecast for that but back to the rest of this morning there's plenty of sunshine out there
00:38there's a few showers around across parts of wales but the main focus for showers as we go through the
00:43afternoon is going to be across lincolnshire yorkshire and east anglia elsewhere largely fine
00:49and dry the sunshine will be turning increasingly hazy across northern ireland and scotland ahead
00:55of this area of low pressure and also accompanied by some strengthening winds as well so it is going
01:01to be feeling rather cool here but in the sunshine and lighter winds across the far south and east
01:08should be feeling pleasant highs up to 20 to 22 degrees so as we go through monday evening take care
01:15during rush hour heavy spells of rain moving through across northern ireland and scotland accompanied
01:21by some strong and gusty winds again coastal gales are possible and then that moving and sweeping
01:26through into northern england parts of wales and the southwest clearer skies towards the southeast of
01:32england and then behind that frequent blustery showers otherwise temperatures while they're not
01:38dropping too low tonight lows around 9 to 11 degrees so as we start tuesday morning a bright start
01:46initially across the southeast and parts of east anglia but a damp and wet start across the central
01:51swathe of the uk but that rain swiftly moves its way south and eastwards could be a little bit damp and
01:57dreary for much of the day across the southeast initially but otherwise behind that it's a case of
02:03sunny spells and frequent blustery showers moving through some of the showers could be heavy perhaps
02:09with the odd rumble of thunder and some hail but even falling as snow over the highest mountains
02:14across scotland so feeling rather cool here but in any sunshine and in sheltered spots we'll see
02:21temperatures climbing 18 to 21 degrees there's a fair bit of weather going on so make sure to stay
