00:00Hello, welcome to your latest weather update from the Met Office.
00:04It's been a very warm day for many of us on Saturday and that heat is going to continue to build
00:08as we head into the start of the new working week. It's all thanks to this area of high pressure
00:12building from the south of the UK, pushing its way north and eastwards as we go through the rest
00:16of the weekend and into the start of the new week. By the time we get to Monday, Tuesday,
00:20perhaps bringing in some slightly southerly winds, so picking up some slightly warmer air from the
00:24continent. However, low pressure never too far away out towards the west and northwest and it's
00:28this weather front that pushes in and pushes eastwards as we go through Tuesday and into
00:32Wednesday. It's going to turn everything a little bit fresher by the middle of the week.
00:37Back to the rest of Saturday though, and the weather front that we've seen throughout much
00:41of Saturday across northwest England, northern parts of Wales does continue as we head overnight
00:45and into the start of Sunday, bringing some outbreaks of patchy rain and drizzle, mainly
00:48over high ground across parts of Wales, northwest England, maybe even southwest England too. But
00:53elsewhere, generally a dry night to come, plenty of clear spells into the early hours of Sunday morning.
00:58Maybe one or two blustery showers just feeding into the very far north of Scotland. But despite
01:02those clear spells across the country, it's going to be a very mild night to come. Across the south,
01:07temperatures not dropping much below the high teens in places. And across the north, even though
01:13it's a little bit fresher, still temperatures staying in the double figures here. So that does mean
01:18a very mild start to the day on Sunday. Perhaps still quite a cloudy start across parts of Wales,
01:23maybe southwest England too, seeing some outbreaks of patchy rain and drizzle over any high ground.
01:28Maybe one or two isolated showers just feeding into parts of Northern Ireland. Some longer
01:32spells of rain arriving across the northwest of Scotland too. But generally elsewhere, plenty
01:37of blue skies, plenty of sunshine on offer as we head through the afternoon. But once again,
01:41it's going to be feeling really quite warm across the southeast. Highs at here around 29, 30,
01:47potentially 31 degrees. And even across parts of Northern Ireland, southwest England, Wales,
01:52temperatures reaching into the mid-20s. But again, just that little bit fresher across the very far
01:57north of Scotland, where it's still going to be a little breezy through the afternoon.
02:02That rain across parts of Scotland continues to push northwards as we head through Sunday evening.
02:07Any showers across parts of Northern Ireland, any patchy rain across the rest of the country,
02:11gradually easing overnight. So generally turning dry for most of us as we head into the early hours
02:15of Monday morning. Maybe some clouds, some patchy light rain and drizzle across the high ground
02:20of Scotland. Perhaps some rain arriving across the very far west of Northern Ireland too. But for
02:24most of us, plenty of dry and clear spells around. And again, despite those clear spells, it is going
02:29to be another very mild night to come. Again, in the south, temperatures not dropping below those high
02:34teens of Celsius. And even in the north, we could stay quite mild here, 16, 17 degrees, and probably
02:40feeling really quite muggy across the country as we start Monday morning.
02:44So into the start of Monday, obviously a very mild start to the day. Perhaps quite a damp start
02:50across parts of Northern Ireland and Western Scotland. We can continue to see some rain pushing
02:54in from the southwest. This perhaps turning heavy at times as we go towards the afternoon.
02:59But for much of England and Wales, generally a dry afternoon to come. Plenty of sunshine on offer.
03:04And with some lighter winds and some southerly winds, that is going to mean those temperatures
03:07are a little bit higher on Monday. Temperatures likely to peak on Monday or Tuesday around 33, 34.
03:14Potentially 35 degrees quite widely across much of England and Wales. Those temperatures into the
03:19high 20s or even low 30s. And even across Northern Ireland and much of Scotland, those temperatures into
03:24the low 20s too. So feeling really quite warm and muggy across the country and particularly in the north
03:29if you are stuck underneath that cloud and rain. It's going to feel quite unpleasant. But it's the
03:33southeast that hold on to those highest temperatures. And we're going to see similar temperatures as well
03:37on Tuesday. 34 or 35 degrees are possible. But that weather front then arrives from the west as we go
03:43into Wednesday. So turning much fresher then. But you can find out more about that by hitting
