00:00Maybe you're hoping the fine sunny weather continues or for a little bit of rain.
00:05There's a bit of both as we go through this weekend.
00:07That's because the high pressure that's dominated our weather so far this week,
00:11it's drifting a little bit away towards the east.
00:13So there is a front towards the northwest that's going to try to edge in.
00:17That won't make much progress.
00:18There's another system, though, towards the south of us.
00:21This is likely to feed its way northwards as we go through the weekend,
00:24and it could well bring some heavy, possibly even thundery showers,
00:27particularly to parts of the southwest as we go through Sunday.
00:30But there's a chance they could become a bit more widespread as we go through Sunday and into next week as well.
00:36Back to there and now, though, and if we look at the details for much of the country
00:40through the rest of Friday and overnight into Saturday, it's a dry, clear night.
00:45But like I said, there is a front towards the northwest, so that's going to bring a bit more cloud,
00:50maybe a few spots of rain to the northwest of Scotland.
00:52Otherwise, and with those clear skies, generally light winds,
00:55because many places are going to have a bit of a chilly night.
00:58It's going to turn quite fresh, similar to some recent nights, really.
01:02Temperatures in some countryside locations could just about dip below freezing.
01:06A touch of frost is possible.
01:07Most towns and cities, though, are holding up several degrees above.
01:11Nonetheless, a bit of a fresh start on Saturday morning,
01:13and there could be some pockets of mist and fog around.
01:15But once the sun comes up, those will quite quickly clear,
01:19and our temperatures will quite quickly lift as well as we go through the day.
01:22So a fine sunny picture for many, not always wall-to-wall blue skies,
01:27but for quite a few of us, it will be.
01:29Always the exception being towards the far north northwest of Scotland,
01:33where that front's a bit closer.
01:34There could be a bit more cloud and a few spots of rain at times as well.
01:38With the decent sunshine, temperatures, if anything,
01:40are likely to be a few degrees up compared to Friday,
01:43more widely getting into the high teens, low 20s,
01:46perhaps even mid-20s in a few places.
01:48But do be aware, we do have some pretty high pollen levels for many places,
01:53the dry, fine weather leading to some high levels across many areas.
01:57And we are transitioning from tree pollen to grass pollen,
02:00and it's grass pollen which the majority of hay fever sufferers are susceptible to.
02:05So you may start to feel some greater symptoms as we go through the next week or so.
02:10But as we go through Saturday evening,
02:12our attention's really drawn to some heavy, thundery showers that are coming in from the south.
02:18Now, these are causing us some headaches in terms of how widespread they're going to be.
02:23So do take into account that across parts of southwest England, south Wales,
02:26even other parts of southern England,
02:28they could be spreading their way in as we go overnight, Saturday and into Sunday.
02:32Otherwise, and many other places having another largely dry, clear night,
02:36and it could be a bit fresh in some places away from the towns and cities.
02:40Then through Sunday itself,
02:42still some question marks as to what's going to happen with these heavy,
02:46possibly thundery showers in the southwest.
02:48Like I said,
02:48they could be a bit more widespread than the graphics behind me suggest.
02:52And we do need to take into account the fact that they could be pretty heavy.
02:55We could see some high rainfall totals building up,
02:58and a lot of that rain could come in quite a short period of time.
03:01So it's not just the lightning risk,
03:03the potential for some hail that we need to watch out for.
03:06There could also be a bit of flash flooding as well,
03:09even though it has been so dry recently.
03:12Further north, there's a chance that that front may edge back in a little bit.
03:15Even though it breaks up, we could see some outbreaks of rain.
03:18And also those showers could spill into parts of Northern Ireland too.
03:22Further east though, lots of dry weather still on Sunday.
03:25And with that, temperatures even higher again.
03:27So more widely getting into the mid-20 Celsius.
03:30Pretty warm, temperatures a fair few degrees above average for the time of year.
03:34Later on, as we go into the beginning of next week,
03:37and we are going to continue to see this low pressure to the southwest of us,
03:41likely to bring some showers to some parts.
03:44Exactly how far they spread, still some question marks.
03:48But at the moment, we do need to cater for the risk of some heavy,
03:50possibly thundery showers as we go through Monday and perhaps into Tuesday.
03:54But then high pressure builds from the north,
03:56and that's going to lead to a drier, more fine picture
03:59as we go through the end of the week, similar to what we've become used to.
04:02I'll see you again soon. Bye-bye.
04:04Bye-bye.
