A drab start to the weekend for Belfast, southern Scotland and northern England this morning, with persistent rain gradually pushing south. Cloudy across England, but brighter in much of Scotland. The rain will persist in northern England but dissipate elsewhere, and cloud should break up by the afternoon in many central and southern areas. A warm and humid day, with blustery winds. - This is the Met Office UK Weather forecast for the morning of 28/06/2025. Bringing you today’s weather forecast is Alex Deakin.

00:00Good morning. The heat building this weekend for some parts of the UK. Not everywhere will it be
00:06especially hot. Most of us though will see at least some sunshine. It's a bit of a drab start
00:11to the weekend for Belfast, the central belt of Scotland. This zone of rain just trickling its
00:16way south as though so things are getting a little bit brighter here. Certainly a much brighter drier
00:21day across the highlands compared to yesterday. Still pretty blustery. A gusty wind here which may
00:26throw a few showers across but they should zip through because of the strength of the breeze.
00:31Now one zone that's likely to stay pretty dull, the far north of England, particularly Cumbria,
00:35parts of north Lancashire. Rain and drizzle on and off here especially over the hills but with a bit
00:40of a rain shadow Liverpool, Manchester may well stay dry. Certainly most of England and Wales will
00:47have a dry day and after a bit of a cloudy start many areas also seeing plenty of sunshine this
00:52afternoon. Just the possibility that the coast of Wales and southwest England, some areas here may
00:58stay a little murky, a little overcast. It'll still be warm, it'll still be humid but the top
01:02temperatures are going to be where we see the sunniest skies. So across the Midlands, eastern England
01:0728, 29, maybe 30 degrees in the capital. Not as hot further north. Pretty pleasant in the sunshine
01:14across eastern Scotland. Temperatures here 22, maybe 23 degrees Celsius. Now as we go through the evening
01:20and overnight that zone of thicker clouds still with some drizzly rain persists over parts of
01:25northwest England. Again mostly Cumbria, north Lancashire but some rain and drizzle at times
01:30getting into north Wales. Again especially across Snowdonia. Many other areas staying dry. Quite a
01:36contrast between north and south and the feel of the night however because the warm humid air sticks
01:41here. Temperatures holding up in the high teens in urban areas further north. A good deal more
01:46comfortable as temperatures drop down there to 10 or 11 degrees Celsius. Into Sunday it's a similar
01:52story. Still this central zone with a lot of cloud over parts of northern England. Rain and drizzle at
01:56times in northwest England, maybe southwest Scotland. We'll see a little bit more. I suspect of
02:02thicker cloud and rain and drizzle edging its way across parts of northern Ireland. So a different day
02:07here again for tomorrow compared to today. Clouding over a bit in western Scotland but most of Scotland dry and
02:13bright hazy sunshine and certainly further south we should see some sunnier skies developing after a
02:19bit of a cloudy start and the temperatures lifting once more. More widely up to the mid-20s. Again the
02:25Midlands, eastern England. Again if it stays a bit grey around some coasts in the southwest, temperatures
02:30not as high. It's still quite a warm and a humid feel. And again eastern Scotland 22, 23 degrees in the
02:37sunshine. Now I wouldn't normally show you Monday's chart this time through the weekends but
02:42Monday is likely to see the peak in this current hot spell. Across central and eastern England
02:48temperatures widely over 30 Celsius, 34 perhaps even 35 in one or two locations. And by Monday the hot
02:55air has started to push a little further north so it's warming up across northern Ireland and
03:00Scotland. So yeah plenty to talk about with our weather. You want to be keeping up to date with
