Temperatures continue to build this evening, with high pressure dominating the UK weather picture and settled conditions ensuing. Some stubborn cloud will continue to affect Scotland and Northern Ireland, with some patchy rain possible. Clear in Wales and England where it will be uncomfortably warm overnight. A muggy start tomorrow, and temperatures even warmer. - This is the Met Office UK Weather forecast for the evening of 18/06/2025. Bringing you today’s weather forecast is Clare Nasir.
00:00Hello there, welcome to a Wednesday evening weather update from the Met Office.
00:05Temperatures are building day on day, peaking into the 30s as we head through Thursday as well as Friday.
00:11High pressure firmly in charge, hence the reason why the weather is so settled.
00:15We do have a weather front which will bring a little bit of rain to western Scotland, any showers reserved for Shetland.
00:21Through Thursday we inherit a south-easterly wind.
00:24The air across France is very warm if not hot at the moment and one or two showers in the mix through Friday.
00:29But there will be fairly few and far between.
00:32However, through this evening, fairly stubborn clouds across Scotland, Northern Ireland.
00:36A little bit of patchy rain just clipping the western side of Scotland as it clears the far north of Northern Ireland.
00:42For England and Wales it's a clear night, starry skies, perhaps one or two shallow mist and fog patches.
00:47And some clearer skies across the far north of Scotland where temperatures could dip to around 8 or 9 degrees Celsius.
00:52But very warm in the south, uncomfortable for sun.
00:55Temperatures for the likes of Cardiff as well as Bristol towards London, 16 to 18 degrees Celsius.
01:02That's the lowest temperatures overnight.
01:04So into tomorrow morning, muggy for many.
01:07We'll see that cloud continue its passage northwards through the first part of the day across western Scotland.
01:12The odd spot of two of rain just for the Outer Hebrides.
01:14Now for Shetland, you'll see some fine weather as well as Orkney and Caithness with some hazy sunshine as the cloud breaks across the central belt, allowing for some fine weather to come through.
01:23Sunny spells elsewhere, Northern Ireland, England and Wales.
01:27And warmer along this eastern strip relative to today.
01:29We'll see temperatures here, 25 Celsius.
01:32For mid Wales, 30 down towards the southeast.
01:34Again, a 30 Celsius.
01:3523, 24 for the central belt of Scotland, 24 also for Northern Ireland.
01:40So a very warm day, if not hot.
01:42And that leads into a warm night yet again.
01:46Warmer across Scotland than the last few nights.
01:48And even further south, we'll see temperatures across particularly central and southern areas, the high teens.
01:54And that warmth continues to maintain itself further north as well.
01:57As well as two showers just come in across Irish Sea coast.
02:01A bit of a breeze across the west country through the first part of the morning.
02:05But look at this.
02:05It's a lovely day to be out and about.
02:07Remember, UV levels will be high.
02:09So some strong sunshine and some high levels of pollen as well, particularly for England and Wales.
02:15Now through the afternoon, temperatures rising even higher.
02:18So 25 across the north there.
02:2028 to 31 for places such as Birmingham, eastern parts of Wales as we head through the afternoon.
02:2731 down towards the home counties as well.
02:30Here's your outlook through Saturday.
02:32Yet again, it's a day of sunshine.
02:35And not a lot of change really.
02:37Winds are light.
02:38It's going to feel very hot, particularly across England and Wales.
02:41Warm further north.
02:42Temperatures start to wane across more northern and western areas through Sunday.
02:46We'll see some showers, particularly across western Scotland.
02:48But we hang on to the heat across eastern counties.
