00:00We love this guy because we want him to win this week and he shares a feeling that both of us have.
00:07Your boy Jon Rahmscotti, he loves the Open Championship.
00:11In my opinion, the Open Championship is the most prestigious event you can win in golf.
00:20For my understanding of the game and the history of the game, I think the Claret Jug is the most special one, right?
00:28And there's an order to it, too, because it changes venues, right?
00:33So if you can win it in St. Andrews, I don't think anything in golf can come close to that.
00:38And then there's obviously different ones that have a lot of significance as well, right?
00:41But the Open, to me, I think it's what it is.
00:47It's the home of golf.
00:47Golf started in this part of the world and it's the oldest championship we have and it's what makes it so special.
00:52The type of golf we play, the Lynx courses, where in theory it's meant to be played, the elements, the weather,
00:58it's quite unique.
01:02I don't think there's a word to describe it.
01:04It's just altogether is what makes it so special.
01:06It is truly, it stands to me head and shoulders above all the others.
01:12Now, I know you've commented about the Masters and what it means.
01:17I get that.
01:18I've been there.
01:19I've been to Augusta.
01:20So I think it's an awesome golf tournament, the Masters.
01:26There's no doubt about it.
01:27But to me, the problem with it is there's so many guys that are great at playing that golf course over the years that they've mastered the golf course.
01:36Like, you know, I know they changed the cups and where they put the, you know, holes on the greens.
01:43Fair enough.
01:44But it is the same golf course every year.
01:47And there's guys, you know, like obviously Jack, Tiger, Freddie Couples.
01:53I mean, we go on and on.
01:54Tom Watson, all these guys.
01:57There's a lot of guys that have really figured it out.
02:01No one figures out the Open.
02:05No one.
02:07It's so brutal.
02:08It's so unbelievable.
02:11Like, the only thing that can compare to it, to me, was the Oakmont U.S. Open.
02:17And, you know, that golf course.
02:19And you're going to see the same thing at the Ryder Cup at Bethpage.
02:23The course is so brutal that I think it makes golf better when they play on brutal golf courses and in links conditions, you know, 12-foot-deep pot bunkers and the elements.
02:36You heard him say the elements, the weather, the wind, the rain, the cold.
02:40It's so different than, you know, summers in the United States playing on golf courses that they own.
02:49I mean, it's just too easy.
02:52And, you know, I thought Oakmont was a true test of golf.
02:56I think the Open Championship is always a true test of golf.
03:01And that's why, like, when I, like, one day, if I'm still alive on this earth, I'm going to go to that thing.
03:08I'm going to, you know, when I don't have to work and I'm done working and I'm retired, something like that, I guarantee you I'm going over there to golf and to watch that Open Championship.
03:19Because I used to be a hell of a golfer back in the day.
03:22I don't golf anymore.
03:24And I just play ball.
03:25I want to golf again one day when I'm old and just knock it straight.
03:29My grandfather played golf until he was 90.
03:32And I mean to tell you, the old man could hit the ball straight and shoot an 85 every day of his life until he was dead.
03:38All you have to do is hit the ball straight, I'm telling you.
03:41And you could be old and still be a great golfer.
03:44And it's the same thing with chicks.
03:46There's people say, oh, you know, there's women golfers now that can, you know, hit the ball straight.
03:51And they don't hit it as far as the men, but they score like the men, don't they?
03:54Because they hit the ball straight.
03:56And they put the ball on the fairway.
03:57And then they wedge in just like great golfers do.
04:01You keep it in the short grass.
04:03And you wedge in and you can putt.
04:05You can be a great golfer.
04:06I want to golf again and I want to go to the Open.
04:09That's the one thing in life I haven't done.
04:12I've done everything else 15 times over.
04:14Never gone.
04:15I've been to four Olympic Games.
04:17I haven't been to the Open Championship.
04:19And it's a massive fail on my part.
04:22And I'll be graded for it.
04:24Failure.
