00:00Let's go around the rest of the award markets on this final day of the Major League Baseball
00:04All-Star break with a focus on the National League.
00:08DRS, it's no surprise that when you are an All-Star, you are a Rookie of the Year favorite
00:13as well in your debut season in the bigs.
00:16That's the case for Big Miz, Jacob Mizorowski, who now kind of has this weird narrative around
00:22his name.
00:22It's not his fault.
00:23He didn't campaign for himself to get into the National League All-Star team and that
00:28squad to be in Atlanta this week.
00:31Major League Baseball said that he should be there.
00:34Big Miz has been great in the five starts that he has made this year.
00:38He's a minus 210 favorite DRS to a National League Rookie of the Year.
00:42That feels fitting.
00:43That feels justified.
00:45His All-Star selection, again, we've already had that debate numerous times, but Big Miz
00:49well on his way if he continues to pitch the way he did in his first five starts in the
00:55nine or ten that he'll make down the stretch of this second half.
00:58Yeah, but that's not going to happen, and we know that's not going to happen.
01:01So if you're buying in on basically his first five starts, understand this.
01:04Teams are smart.
01:05Batters adjust.
01:06There's a lot more video out.
01:08What is it like to pitch?
01:09Second time around.
01:10You can be a power arm where you're not used to seeing that type of pitcher and say,
01:13OK, I struggle.
01:14Now, am I saying that he's going to absolutely get blown up in his next five starts?
01:17No, I'm not.
01:18But if we're just expecting like, oh, he had five starts.
01:20He's the Rookie of the Year.
01:21Like, there's other really.
01:22Augusto Ramirez has been playing pretty good baseball for this season here for the Marlins.
01:25You take a look at Drake Baldwin, who's a very good young catcher, and also understand this.
01:30If you are looking at the Atlanta Braves, who might give themselves a short window, Ben, right?
01:34We're talking about under two weeks, let's just say, towards the trade deadline in Major League Baseball, give or take.
01:39Let's just say if the Braves are, I don't want to say sellers on the market, but not adding to their team.
01:43Maybe they go, hey, Drake, man, we're just going to play every single game down the stretch.
01:46See if you can tear it up a bit.
01:48Maybe, you know, hit 280, 285, double-digit home runs, pump up your RBI.
01:52Like, that's a legitimate spot I would look at.
01:54Chase Burns also, like, why doesn't Chase Burns have the same type of hype of Mizorowski?
01:58Because we're talking only about a few starts.
02:00Burns, over his next three starts, could strike out 11 in each start, and he catapults himself way up to the top.
02:06There's a reason why the betting market is so tough with the Rookie of the Year, because we haven't seen these guys.
02:10There's no background.
02:11Like, hey, do you remember that, Ben, three years ago?
02:12He was really good over his final 15 starts in August and September.
02:15We don't have that.
02:16These guys can fall off or dominate at a moment's notice here, being such young baseball players.
02:22Mizorowski in the lead.
02:23Okay, I understand it, but he's only had five starts in Major League Baseball.
02:27I can't just tip my cap like, oh, that'll be minus 800 by the end of July.
02:31I wouldn't bet on Mizorowski, because why?
02:33He's a rookie.
02:34You can't guarantee things happen.
