00:00All right, TPC San Antonio this week for the Valero Texas Open.

00:05I love this event for one reason, Keith.

00:08I love the story of guys who want to get to Augusta, and by now, this is it.

00:13I mean, you're either in or out.

00:15Last week was the last week for the top 50 on the world rankings, and if you've won tournaments,

00:19et cetera.

00:20The only way you could still get in is by winning this week, and you have a board here

00:25that's filled with guys who are getting work in, who we know are going to be in Augusta,

00:29the Ludvigs, the Fleetwoods, the Matsuyamas, and then we have a lot of guys, including

00:34Gary Woodland, who played great last week, who the only way they're going, Ricky as well.

00:39Ricky's talked about it.

00:40He needs to win to get there, who need that golden ticket.

00:43I love this angle this week, Keith.

00:46Well, Mike, I mean, here's the thing.

00:48You know, we were just kind of going back and forth there about Houston.

00:51Only seven guys in the final 25 top names there in Houston have an invitation to go

00:58down Magnolia lane, right?

01:00The other 18 guys that played so well in Houston, they need to keep going.

01:04And you know what?

01:05Hey, the golden ticket, Willie Wonka shows up here every once in a while because eight

01:09of the last 10 winners have needed this golden ticket in order to go down to amen corner

01:15and they've gotten it.

01:16You know, the, the guys that have it like the Jordan Spieth win a couple of years ago,

01:19the Corey Connors, the second time they didn't need it to get in, but all those other eight

01:23of those last 10 winners, they needed this wind to go.

01:26It was just last year when Akshay one, I mean, remember that playoff, how wild that

01:30was he and dirty daddy McCarthy McCarthy throws it in the Creek while Akshay has got his shirt

01:35off getting treatment.

01:36They're both nine shots ahead of Rory and they both needed a ticket to go to Augusta.

01:40I mean, this tournament provides fantastic theater and has a lot to do with the golf

01:45course, but it has a lot to do with the sentiment you just mentioned.

01:49It has everything.

01:50These guys it's their lifelong dream.

01:52I mean, as a golf media member, I can't wait to go as a credentialed media member, right?

01:57Like that's a dream right now, let alone imagine playing in this event, whether you're an amateur

02:01or a professional, a long time professional, it's just absolutely fantastic.

02:05And it adds an absolutely awesome extra layer to the competition this week.

02:11And that's why, if you look over the last 10 years, the average winner's odds is down

02:15over a hundred to one, because basically the long shots probably care than the guys like

02:20Fleetwood and Spieth who are getting their work in and just trying to prep and save some

02:24energy for what's going to be a big week next week.

02:26Yeah.

02:27It kind of played out.

02:28Like we thought I asked you this a week ago, you know, we knew what Scotty and Rory were

02:32there to do in Houston, which was get good work in.

02:35But when Scotty shoots the round that he does on Friday and he's sitting there Saturday

02:39night and he's like, all right, you know, I might as well just go and try to win the

02:42golf tournament too.

02:43And he came pretty damn close to doing that on Sunday.

02:49Before we get to your picks after the guests, go ahead.

02:52What'd you make of the Rory elbow comment?

02:54I mean, that was completely unnecessary and brings it up.

02:57Is he just trying to give himself, you know, it's just trying to let a little air out of

03:01the balloon because it's going to be suffocating for him next week.

03:04He's got two wins.

03:05He's never been in a better position in order to win at Augusta.

03:08Xander's been hurt.

03:10Scotty has no wins before he's coming in.

03:11Rom's still over at live, you know, Colin can, you know, Ludwig missed the cut at the,

03:16at the players.

03:18I don't know.

03:19That was weird for me.

03:20How'd you feel about that?

03:22Very bizarre for him to get into that.

03:26It's almost like you say, he wants to leave himself a little bit of cushion if things

03:31don't go well in Augusta and they haven't gone well in the past.

03:36We know that.

03:37I thought it was a little bizarre from Rory because he's the spotlight man to wins most

03:42wins he's ever had in a year going into this event.

03:45We've seen the trajectory the last couple of years.

03:47I know you've talked about him guys winning and then going into Augusta.

03:51So Rory, I like it.
