00:00:00Our help is in the name of the Lord, who made heaven and earth.
00:00:23Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
00:00:25As the beginning is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
00:00:55Good morning, my dear brothers and sisters, and welcome on this 24th Sunday in Ordinary Time.
00:01:02Today we will begin with our Ordinary Time Morning Prayer, found on page B7 of your White Pew Prayer Books.
00:01:11Page B7.
00:01:13Blessed be the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, who enlighten and sanctify our souls and bodies at all times, now and always, and forever and ever. Amen.
00:01:25O Lord, open my lips.
00:01:26When you give them breath, they live. You give new life to the earth. Alleluia.
00:01:34Praise the Lord, my soul. Lord, my God, how great you are.
00:01:39You are clothed with majesty and glory. You cover yourself with light.
00:01:44You stretched out the heavens like a tent and built your home on the waters above.
00:01:50You used the clouds as your chariot and on the wings of the wind.
00:01:55You used the winds as your messengers and flashes of lightning as your servants.
00:02:00From heaven you send rain on the mountains, and the earth is filled with your blessings.
00:02:06You make grass grow for the cattle and plants for man to use, so he can grow his crops and produce wine to make him happy,
00:02:15olive oil to make him cheerful, and bread to give him strength.
00:02:19Lord, you have made so many things. How wisely you made them all.
00:02:23The earth is filled with your creatures. All of them depend on you to give them food when they need it.
00:02:29You give it to them, and they eat it. You provide food, and they are satisfied.
00:02:35When you turn away, they are afraid. When you hold back your breath, they die and go back to the soil they came from.
00:02:43But when you give them breath, they live. You give new life to the earth.
00:02:48May the glory of the Lord last forever. May the Lord be happy with what he made.
00:02:53I will sing to the Lord all my life. I will sing praises to my God as long as I live.
00:03:00Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
00:03:03Let us pray.
00:03:10O God, on the first Pentecost, you instructed the hearts of those who believed in you by the light of the Holy Spirit.
00:03:18Under the inspiration of the same Spirit, give us a taste for what is right and true,
00:03:23and a continuing sense of his joy, bringing presence and power.
00:03:27We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord.
00:03:30A reading taken from Paul's letter to the church at Galatia.
00:03:34Do not deceive yourselves. No one makes a fool of God.
00:03:39A man will reap exactly what he plants.
00:03:42If he plants in the field of his natural desires, from it he will gather the harvest of death.
00:03:47If he plants in the field of the Spirit, from the Spirit he will gather the harvest of eternal life.
00:03:53So let us not become tired of doing good.
00:03:56For if we do not give up, the time will come when we will reap the harvest.
00:04:00So then, as often as we have the chance, we should do good to everyone,
00:04:05but especially to those who belong to our family in the faith.
00:04:09Our help comes from the Lord.
00:04:13Lord, have mercy.
00:04:16Christ, have mercy.
00:04:19Lord, have mercy.
00:04:21Let us once again hold up in prayer and petition all those who have asked for our prayers,
00:04:26for their health, for their healing, or for any special need,
00:04:30that God, the Father of mercy, through his Son Jesus, may grant them what is needful to them.
00:04:35We pray especially for Laura, Stan, Kelly, Curtis, Joshua, Tom, Karen, Gregory, Teresa, Michelle,
00:04:45Susan, Gary, Gary and Sandra, Fred, Teresa, Carla, Francine, Eileen, Joyce, Helen, Michael, Francis, Dan, Bob,
00:04:57Brian, Tom, Nedra, Dawn, Fran, Zosia, Bob, Bishop John, Bishop Paul, Gordon, Amy, Liz, Dorothy, Jennifer, Daniel and Julia,
00:05:11Gail, and all in need of God's healing grace.
00:05:14We pray for all those who serve in the armed forces of the United States,
00:05:18especially Michael, Mark, Patrick, Timothy, Charlie, Father Joseph, Father Andrew, Father Stan, and Father Andrew.
00:05:25For all those in public service, our civil servants, police officers, and firefighters.
00:05:30For all active, retired clergy of our Holy Church.
00:05:33For all students and teachers at Mount Pleasant Middle School.
00:05:36For the residents and staff of City Mission of Schenectady.
00:05:39For the residents and staff of Pathways.
00:05:42For all members of the Civil Air Patrol.
00:05:44And for all who have asked for our prayers for any need or intention.
00:05:47This we remember and pray for in a special way,
00:05:50the people and the clergy of Holy Trinity Cathedral in Manchester, New Hampshire.
00:05:56We hold all these prayers together before God the Father in the words Jesus taught us.
00:06:02Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
00:06:06Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
00:06:11Give us this day our daily bread.
00:06:13And forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us.
00:06:20And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
00:06:24Amen.
00:06:26Accept our morning worship of praise and supplication, O gracious almighty God.
00:06:30Give us unshakable faith, firm hope, and sincere love.
00:06:35Bless our comings and our goings, our deeds and our desires, our work and our prayer.
00:06:40Blessed and praised be your precious name and your mighty power,
00:06:45Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, now and forever.
00:06:49Amen.
00:06:50Lord, hear our prayers.
00:06:52Let us bless the Lord.
00:07:00Well, good morning everyone and welcome.
00:07:02So, how did we go from the 14th Sunday in Ordinary Time last week to the 24th Sunday in Ordinary Time this week?
00:07:14I don't think summer has flown by that fast.
00:07:17We're not into fall yet.
00:07:18But it is a unique thing in our church that because we celebrate the solemnity of brotherly love on the 2nd Sunday of September,
00:07:33the readings in the gospel for that solemnity of brotherly love are exactly the same as the readings in gospel would be for the 15th Sunday in Ordinary Time.
00:07:45So, what we do is we just do flip-flop applesauce and switch them around.
00:07:49That way you're able to get all of the readings for the year and it's not repeated.
00:07:57So, that's basically why.
00:07:59So, just so we don't repeat during the year.
00:08:03You won't have to hear the same homily twice.
00:08:06Let's see.
00:08:08Please continue to pray for vocations.
00:08:10Please remember our rummage sale.
00:08:12Invite those you may know who want to get rid of some stuff.
00:08:17They can get a table at our rummage sale flea market.
00:08:22There's flyers.
00:08:23Take a flyer.
00:08:24Hand them out to people.
00:08:25They can get a table.
00:08:27It's super inexpensive to have the space there.
00:08:31And we're already getting people signing up, which is positive.
00:08:34But we need more.
00:08:37So, that way we can help get rid of some of that stuff without having to open up your home and your garage and do a garage sale.
00:08:47I will be away, not this week, but the following week.
00:08:52I will be at Hancock Air National Guard Station in Syracuse for the Civil Air Patrol's New York Wing Encampment.
00:09:00I'll be chaplain there and offering Catholic services for the cadets and adult staff at the encampment.
00:09:11Let's see what else.
00:09:12This week, a pretty simple schedule.
00:09:15Food pantry tomorrow.
00:09:18Holy Mass throughout the week.
00:09:20Wednesday is the Solemnity of Our Lady of Mount Carmel.
00:09:24So, you're invited to Holy Mass that day at noon.
00:09:27And next Sunday, the 16th Sunday in Orid Time, we flip back to summertime.
00:09:32We have our normal Holy Mass schedule.
00:09:37Good.
00:09:38Okay.
00:09:38The other thing I wanted to share with you is I was, of course, at the Coors Encampment.
00:09:45This was one of the most wonderful years ever.
00:09:48It was just really special.
00:09:51The young people that were there were super attentive.
00:09:55Everything went really smoothly.
00:09:58There will be an article coming out in God's field probably in a month.
00:10:02One of the young people there wrote us all.
00:10:05Well, we teach them faith and character development lessons.
00:10:10So, one of the lessons was on thankfulness.
00:10:13And all of the young people, you know, took some moments to write notes.
00:10:17And some they shared with individual counselors.
00:10:20And it was beautiful to watch because as the parents arrived yesterday,
00:10:24they were handing their parents thank you notes.
00:10:27Thank you notes for what the parents did for them.
00:10:30And one of the young people shared a thank you note with all of the staff.
00:10:35It was quite beautiful.
00:10:37And there will be an article about that thankful note.
00:10:40Thank you note coming out probably in about a month, which we'll share with all of you.
00:10:47Stay tuned.
00:10:48We did, at the end of the Corps' encampment, we received our reward or award for our clothing drive last winter.
00:11:00I'll read the letter that we received.
00:11:04Father Knicky and all the faithful from Holy Name of Jesus,
00:11:07thank you for taking part in the United YMS of our winter clothing drive.
00:11:12The annual clothing drive is a way to help people in need during the winter months
00:11:17and have a little competition with all parishes in the Polish National Catholic Church.
00:11:23Charity and helping those in need is an admirable act of kindness and compassion.
00:11:29Daily in our communities, schools, and parishes, we see the need to help others.
00:11:35Thank you for stepping up and being Christ in your community.
00:11:38For the effort of your parish community has put forth,
00:11:42Holy Name of Jesus Parish donated the third most amount of clothes
00:11:47in the Polish National Catholic Church Winter Clothing Drive, finishing in third place.
00:11:53Please accept this small token of gratitude to your parish
00:11:56for a night of community activity and fellowship
00:11:59on behalf of the Young Men's Society of Resurrection.
00:12:03Thank you for continuing to support the YMS of our and PNCC events.
00:12:08God bless Nick Kasanitz, President of the United Young Men's Society of Resurrection.
00:12:15So, Mr. Paul, if I could call you up to receive this.
00:12:21Paul being our YMS of our chair in our parish.
00:12:27Branch 56, go.
00:12:29Start gathering up those clothes for this winter.
00:12:37With that, let us now rise and begin our worship with song.
00:12:40To thee we come, O Lord our God.
00:13:02Before thine altar, Father, thou knowest best our yearning hearts,
00:13:13This supplication answer.
00:13:19Lift up from want thy people, Lord.
00:13:24Bless us, O God.
00:13:27O Father, bless our toil.
00:13:31We ask thee not for bliss in life,
00:13:37Nor golden treasure's splendor,
00:13:43But that we enter in the strife,
00:13:49Christ's kingdom to engender.
00:13:53Lift up from thy people, Lord,
00:13:59And strengthen us.
00:14:01And strengthen us, O Father, bless our toil.
00:14:07Under thy cross we stand prepared
00:14:12To serve thee with devotion,
00:14:17Be it with sweat of blood or tears,
00:14:23O'er humble resignation.
00:14:29For we thy people are, O Lord.
00:14:34Save us, O God.
00:14:37O Father, bless our toil.
00:14:45Again, good morning, my dear brothers and sisters,
00:14:47And welcome on this 24th Sunday in Ordinary Time.
00:14:51Today's Holy Mass is offered for our parish,
00:14:54For all parishioners, for all members,
00:14:56For all those we love and care about,
00:14:58And for all of our benefactors.
00:15:00Today's Holy Mass and the contemporary rite
00:15:03Found on page 63 of the Pew Missal.
00:15:07In the name of the Father, and of the Son,
00:15:08And of the Holy Spirit.
00:15:10Amen.
00:15:10Lord, bless us with the wisdom
00:15:12To praise you in spirit and in truth,
00:15:15So that by following your holy will,
00:15:17We may gain eternal salvation.
00:15:20Amen.
00:15:21My dear brothers and sisters,
00:15:22Let's now pause, confess our sins to God,
00:15:24And prepare ourselves,
00:15:26So that we may worthily participate
00:15:28In this holy sacrifice.
00:15:30How we called our sinfulness
00:15:50In seeking reconciliation with God and each other,
00:15:53Let us now recite the second form of the Confidier,
00:15:57I confess to Almighty God,
00:15:59In the presence of the Blessed Virgin Mary,
00:16:02All the saints, and you, my brothers and sisters,
00:16:05That I have sinned through my own fault,
00:16:08In my thoughts, in my words,
00:16:11In what I have done or failed to do,
00:16:13I ask the Blessed Virgin Mary,
00:16:16All the saints, and you, my brothers and sisters,
00:16:19To pray for me to the Lord our God.
00:16:22As an act of contrition for our sinfulness,
00:16:25Let us offer up today in our Father,
00:16:27So that we may be reconcilers
00:16:32With all those we know and meet.
00:16:35May Almighty God have mercy on us,
00:16:37Forgive us our sins,
00:16:38And bring us to everlasting life.
00:16:40May our Lord Jesus Christ absolve you
00:16:43With his authority vested in me,
00:16:44I absolve you from all your sins,
00:16:47In the name of the Father, and of the Son,
00:16:49And of the Holy Spirit.
00:16:51Amen.
00:16:53Help us, God our Savior,
00:16:55For the glory of your name.
00:16:58Deliver us.
00:16:59Pardon our sins for your name's sake.
00:17:02Do not hold past iniquities against us.
00:17:06May your compassion come quickly,
00:17:08For we have been brought very low.
00:17:11Glory be to the Father, and to the Son,
00:17:14And to the Holy Spirit.
00:17:15And to the Holy Spirit.
00:17:17And to the Holy Spirit.
00:17:17And to the Holy Spirit.
00:17:17Now we shall be a world without end.
00:17:20Amen.
00:17:21Lord, have mercy.
00:17:23Lord, have mercy.
00:17:25Christ, have mercy.
00:17:26Lord, have mercy.
00:17:30Lord, have mercy.
00:17:31Let us now rise and give glory to God,
00:17:33Saying glory to God in the highest,
00:17:36And peace to his people on earth.
00:17:39Lord God, heavenly King,
00:17:41Almighty God and Father,
00:17:42We worship you.
00:17:44We give you thanks.
00:17:45We praise you for your glory.
00:17:48Lord Jesus Christ,
00:17:49Only Son of the Father,
00:17:51Lord God,
00:17:52Lamb of God,
00:17:53You take away the sins of the world.
00:17:56Have mercy on us.
00:17:58You are seated at the right hand of the Father.
00:18:01Receive our prayer.
00:18:02For you alone are the Holy One.
00:18:04You alone are the Lord.
00:18:06You alone are the Most High,
00:18:08Jesus Christ,
00:18:09With the Holy Spirit,
00:18:11In the glory of God the Father.
00:18:14Amen.
00:18:15The Lord be with you.
00:18:16And with you.
00:18:18Let us pray.
00:18:20Almighty Father,
00:18:21You seek out those who stray from you,
00:18:23With the love of a good shepherd.
00:18:26Help us to proclaim the good news of your love,
00:18:29So that all who hear it may return to you.
00:18:33We ask this in the name of your Son,
00:18:34Jesus Christ,
00:18:35Who lives and reigns with you,
00:18:37And the Holy Spirit,
00:18:38One God,
00:18:39Forever and ever.
00:18:42Let us now be seated and attentive to the Lord's Word.
00:18:46Amen.
00:19:16A reading from the book of Exodus.
00:19:46This is your God, O Israel, who brought you out of the land of Egypt.
00:19:56I see how stiff-necked this people is to be the Lord of Moses.
00:20:02Let me alone, then, that my wrath may blaze up against them to consume them.
00:20:12Then I will make of you a great nation.
00:20:16But Moses implored the Lord in God's name.
00:20:23Why, O Lord, could you, could your wrath blaze up against your own people, whom you have brought out of the land of Egypt, with such great power and with so strong a hand?
00:20:39Do you remember your servants, Abraham, Isaac, and Israel?
00:20:45And have you sworn to them by your own self, saying,
00:20:50I will make your descendants as numerous as the stars of the sky.
00:20:58In all this land that I promise, I will give you your descendants as their perpetual heritage.
00:21:08For the Lord remanded in his punishment.
00:21:13He has threatened and has pissed upon the people.
00:21:17The word of the Lord.
00:21:18Thanks be to God.
00:21:20Our response to all the time today is,
00:21:23I will rise and go to my Father.
00:21:25I will rise and go to my Father.
00:21:31I have mercy on me, O God, in your goodness.
00:21:37In the greatness of your compassion, wipe out my offense.
00:21:43Thoroughly, watch me from my guilt.
00:21:47And if my sin cleanse me.
00:21:50I will rise and go to my Father.
00:21:53A clean heart, create for me, O God.
00:21:58And steadfast, spirit renews and within me.
00:22:02Cast me not up from your presence.
00:22:06And your Holy Spirit, take not from me.
00:22:11I will rise and go to my Father.
00:22:15O Lord, open my lips.
00:22:18In my mouth shall proclaim your praise.
00:22:21My sacrifice, O God, is a contrite spirit.
00:22:29A heart contrite and humble.
00:22:32O God, you will not scurry.
00:22:35I will rise and go to my Father.
00:22:39A reading from the first letter of St. Paul to Timothy.
00:22:48Beloved, I am grateful to him, who has strengthened me, Christ Jesus, our Lord,
00:22:56because he considered me trustworthy, and appointed me to his ministry.
00:23:01I was once a blasphemer, and a persecutor, and an arrogant, but I have been mercifully treated.
00:23:12Because I acted out of anger, in my unbelief, indeed, the grace of our Lord has been abundant,
00:23:22along with the faith and love, that are in Christ Jesus.
00:23:28This saying is trustworthy, and deserves full acceptance.
00:23:34Christ Jesus, Christ Jesus, came into the world to save sinners.
00:23:40Of me, I am the foremost.
00:23:44But for that reason, I was mercifully treated,
00:23:48so that in me, as the foremost,
00:23:52Christ Jesus, might display all his patience as an example
00:23:58for those who would come to believe in him for everlasting life.
00:24:05To the kings of ages,
00:24:08incorruptible, invisible,
00:24:11the only God,
00:24:13honor and glory,
00:24:15forever and ever.
00:24:17Amen.
00:24:18The word of our Lord.
00:24:19Thanks be to God.
00:24:22Please rise.
00:24:45Alleluia, alleluia.
00:24:47Alleluia, alleluia.
00:24:49For there is one God,
00:24:51there is also one mediator between God and the human race,
00:24:56Christ Jesus,
00:24:57himself human,
00:24:59who gave himself as ransom for all.
00:25:03Alleluia, alleluia.
00:25:05The Lord be in my heart and on my lips,
00:25:06so I will proclaim this holy gospel,
00:25:08through Jesus Christ our Lord.
00:25:09Amen.
00:25:10The Lord be with you.
00:25:12And also with you.
00:25:13A reading from the holy gospel according to St. Luke.
00:25:17Glory be to you, O Lord.
00:25:19Tax collectors and sinners were all drawing near to listen to Jesus.
00:25:24But the Pharisees and scribes began to complain, saying,
00:25:29This man welcomes sinners and eats with them.
00:25:32So to them he addressed this parable.
00:25:35What man among you, having a hundred sheep and losing one of them,
00:25:40would not leave the ninety-nine in the desert and go after the lost one until he finds it?
00:25:46And when he does find it, he sets it on his shoulders with great joy.
00:25:51And upon his arrival home, he calls together his friends and neighbors and says to them,
00:25:56Rejoice with me, because I have found my lost sheep.
00:26:01I tell you, in just the same way, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents
00:26:06than over ninety-nine righteous people who have no need of repentance.
00:26:12Or what woman, having ten coins and losing one,
00:26:16would not light a lamp and sweep the house, searching carefully until she finds it?
00:26:21And when she does find it, she calls together her friends and neighbors and says to them,
00:26:27Rejoice with me, because I have found the coin that I lost.
00:26:32In just the same way, I tell you, there will be rejoicing among the angels of God
00:26:37over one sinner who repents.
00:26:40Then he said, A man had two sons,
00:26:43and the younger son said to his father,
00:26:45Father, give me a share of your estate that should come to me.
00:26:51So the father divided the property between them.
00:26:57After a few days, the younger son collected all his belongings
00:27:00and set off to a distant country,
00:27:03where he squandered his inheritance on a life of dissipation.
00:27:08When he had freely spent everything,
00:27:10a severe famine struck that country,
00:27:13and he found himself in dire need.
00:27:16So he hired himself out to one of the local citizens
00:27:19who sent him to his farm to tend the swine.
00:27:22And he longed to eat the fill of the pods
00:27:26on which the swine fed,
00:27:28but nobody gave him any.
00:27:30Coming to his senses, he thought,
00:27:32How many of my father's hired workers
00:27:34have more than enough to eat?
00:27:36But here am I,
00:27:38dying from hunger.
00:27:39I shall get up and go to my father,
00:27:42and I shall say to him,
00:27:43Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you.
00:27:46I no longer deserve to be called your son.
00:27:49Treat me as you would treat one of your hired workers.
00:27:52So he got up and went back to his father.
00:27:55While he was still a long way off,
00:27:58his father caught sight of him
00:27:59and was filled with compassion.
00:28:02He ran to his son, embraced him, and kissed him.
00:28:05His son said to him,
00:28:07Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you.
00:28:10I no longer deserve to be called your son.
00:28:13But his father ordered his servants,
00:28:16Quickly bring the finest robe and put it on him.
00:28:19Put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet.
00:28:22Take the fattened calf and slaughter it.
00:28:25Then let us celebrate with a feast.
00:28:27Because this son of mine was dead
00:28:29and has come to life again,
00:28:31he was lost and has been found.
00:28:34Then the celebration began.
00:28:37Now the older son had been out in the field,
00:28:40and on his way back he heard he neared the house
00:28:43and heard the sound of music and dancing.
00:28:47He called one of the servants
00:28:48and asked what this might mean.
00:28:51The servant said to him,
00:28:52Your brother has returned,
00:28:54and your father has slaughtered the fattened calf
00:28:56because he has him back safe and sound.
00:29:00He became angry,
00:29:01and when he refused to enter the house,
00:29:04his father came out and pleaded with him.
00:29:07He said to his father in reply,
00:29:08Look, all these years I served you,
00:29:12and not once did I disobey your orders,
00:29:15yet you never gave me even a young goat
00:29:17to feast on with my friends.
00:29:19But when your son returns,
00:29:21who swallowed up your property with prostitutes,
00:29:25for him you slaughter the fattened calf,
00:29:27he said to him,
00:29:29My son, you are here with me always.
00:29:32Everything I have is yours.
00:29:34But now we must celebrate and rejoice
00:29:36because your brother was dead
00:29:38and has come to life again.
00:29:41He was lost and has been found.
00:29:44This is the Gospel of the Lord.
00:29:48Praise be to you, O Lord Jesus Christ.
00:29:51Holy Spirit, come inspire us.
00:30:12Send your sevenfold gifts upon us.
00:30:19As we hear your word,
00:30:23most solemn,
00:30:25teach our hearts to know your wisdom.
00:30:31As we hear your word,
00:30:35most solemn,
00:30:37teach our hearts to know your wisdom.
00:30:44Faith with the fire of thy love.
00:30:56God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ
00:31:01and entrusting to us
00:31:03the ministry of reconciliation.
00:31:07In the name of the Father,
00:31:08and of the Son,
00:31:08and of the Holy Spirit.
00:31:10Amen.
00:31:11The ministry of reconciliation
00:31:13is something that has been given
00:31:19to each and every one of us.
00:31:22It is a divine mandate
00:31:24given to believers
00:31:26to go out and reconcile the world to God.
00:31:31To encounter people
00:31:32and bring them into Christ.
00:31:36What a wonderful mandate.
00:31:38What a wonderful thing
00:31:39for God to give each and every one of us
00:31:42this ministry,
00:31:44this message of reconciliation.
00:31:48This ministry is rooted
00:31:50in the very act of God
00:31:52who sent his Son Jesus
00:31:54into the world
00:31:55to reconcile us
00:31:57to himself.
00:31:59As God
00:32:00sent forth his Son
00:32:02to bring healing,
00:32:03renewal,
00:32:04and the forgiveness of sins
00:32:06to the whole world,
00:32:07so must we
00:32:08carry that message forward.
00:32:12We saw in our first reading
00:32:14Moses' intervention
00:32:16on behalf of the people of Israel.
00:32:20God's anger flared
00:32:22because the Israelites
00:32:24were sinning.
00:32:27Now,
00:32:28those Israelites,
00:32:29they just didn't make a mistake.
00:32:31It was like,
00:32:32oops,
00:32:32oh,
00:32:32I'm sorry,
00:32:33I told a fib.
00:32:35Nor was it something
00:32:37that was just a mistake,
00:32:39like a casual mistake
00:32:41or an accident.
00:32:44Rather,
00:32:44they utterly turned their back
00:32:47on God
00:32:47who had just brought them
00:32:49out of the land of Egypt.
00:32:50He had saved them.
00:32:51He had separated the sea.
00:32:53He walked with them
00:32:55and protected them.
00:32:57They saw his mighty power
00:32:59and all he had done.
00:33:02And as soon as
00:33:04they got a little bored,
00:33:06because they were waiting
00:33:07for Moses
00:33:07to come down
00:33:08from the mountain
00:33:09where he was receiving
00:33:10the commandments of God,
00:33:11and it wasn't really
00:33:13Moses
00:33:13they were waiting for.
00:33:15They were waiting for God.
00:33:18They said,
00:33:18oh God,
00:33:19you know,
00:33:20you're taking,
00:33:20you're taking too long.
00:33:22They'd have to look
00:33:23at their sundial,
00:33:24but you know,
00:33:25God,
00:33:26you're taking too long.
00:33:27We're bored.
00:33:28You know what,
00:33:29God?
00:33:29You don't know enough,
00:33:31God.
00:33:31You're just,
00:33:32you're just off.
00:33:34You know what?
00:33:35We're going to rely on ourselves.
00:33:37We're going to take care
00:33:38of ourselves.
00:33:39God,
00:33:39you go do your own thing.
00:33:40We'll take care
00:33:41of ourselves.
00:33:41They took things
00:33:45literally
00:33:45into their own hands.
00:33:49They were telling God
00:33:51that he's not in charge,
00:33:53but they are.
00:33:56Moses determined
00:33:57to plead before God
00:33:59on behalf of his people.
00:34:02Moses interceded
00:34:03to reconcile his people
00:34:05to God.
00:34:06Now,
00:34:07it wasn't that Moses
00:34:08was like,
00:34:08oh God,
00:34:09please don't hurt the people
00:34:10because they're so nice.
00:34:12Absolutely not.
00:34:13I'm sure Moses
00:34:14was ticked off.
00:34:15He was,
00:34:15he was,
00:34:16he was disappointed
00:34:18in his people.
00:34:22He wasn't happy
00:34:23with them.
00:34:24And certainly,
00:34:25he probably had
00:34:26a righteous anger
00:34:27in him
00:34:28about what his people
00:34:29had done.
00:34:31Yet,
00:34:32he felt
00:34:32that reconciliation,
00:34:35he found
00:34:35that reconciliation
00:34:36was more important
00:34:38than his disappointment
00:34:39and his anger.
00:34:45The shepherd
00:34:46and the good
00:34:47in the gospel
00:34:48and the woman
00:34:50in search of the coin
00:34:51and,
00:34:52of course,
00:34:52the father
00:34:53of the prodigal son,
00:34:55sometimes we call him
00:34:55the prodigal father,
00:34:58are all Jesus'
00:35:00examples
00:35:00of this ministry
00:35:02of reconciliation.
00:35:04They are
00:35:05analogies
00:35:06for how God
00:35:07wants to bring
00:35:08people back
00:35:09to reconcile us
00:35:12to himself
00:35:13through his son,
00:35:13Jesus,
00:35:14and through the ministry
00:35:15we have all
00:35:16been given.
00:35:17Jesus placed
00:35:21healing
00:35:22and reconciliation
00:35:23before all
00:35:25other things.
00:35:27Jesus tells us
00:35:28that this is
00:35:29his father's will.
00:35:33His father's will
00:35:34for us
00:35:35that we be
00:35:36ministers
00:35:37of reconciliation.
00:35:40Now,
00:35:40we could
00:35:41easily place
00:35:42anything
00:35:42involving
00:35:43a ministry
00:35:44ministry
00:35:45in the hands
00:35:47of
00:35:47ordained
00:35:48people
00:35:49or
00:35:49maybe
00:35:50there's
00:35:50some
00:35:50professional
00:35:51reconcilers
00:35:52that we can
00:35:53go to
00:35:54and say,
00:35:54oh,
00:35:54that guy's
00:35:55really good
00:35:56at reconciling.
00:35:56That lady,
00:35:57she knows
00:35:57how to reconcile
00:35:58people.
00:36:00But we can't
00:36:01pass it off.
00:36:02It isn't
00:36:03someone else's
00:36:04job.
00:36:05It's our job.
00:36:07We've been
00:36:07given it by God.
00:36:08It's a mandate.
00:36:09It's something
00:36:10he requires
00:36:11that we do
00:36:12to reconcile.
00:36:15it's incumbent
00:36:17that we take
00:36:18up this
00:36:19ministry of
00:36:19reconciliation
00:36:20on a daily
00:36:21basis.
00:36:23St. Paul
00:36:23regarded himself
00:36:25as the foremost
00:36:26of sinners,
00:36:27the worst
00:36:27of the worst.
00:36:29He goes,
00:36:29look at what
00:36:30God has done
00:36:30for me.
00:36:32God took
00:36:32this worst
00:36:33of all sinners
00:36:34and has reconciled
00:36:36me as an
00:36:37example to each
00:36:38and every one
00:36:39of you
00:36:39of what God
00:36:41wants us
00:36:41to do.
00:36:42forgiveness
00:36:45offered
00:36:46generously.
00:36:49We are
00:36:49called to
00:36:50examine,
00:36:50of course,
00:36:51our
00:36:51consciences,
00:36:54taking account
00:36:55of the times
00:36:55where we
00:36:57received
00:36:57reconciliation.
00:36:59Right?
00:37:00Remember that
00:37:00time you felt
00:37:01healed?
00:37:02That time you
00:37:03felt freed
00:37:04of sin?
00:37:05That time
00:37:05that burden
00:37:06was taken
00:37:07off your
00:37:07back?
00:37:09You're like,
00:37:09ah,
00:37:10this is great.
00:37:11This is
00:37:12wonderful.
00:37:12and our
00:37:15duty to
00:37:15share in
00:37:16that ministry
00:37:16along with
00:37:17Jesus.
00:37:19We have
00:37:20good news.
00:37:22Gospel
00:37:23means good
00:37:23news.
00:37:24We have
00:37:24good news
00:37:25to proclaim
00:37:26which has
00:37:28brought
00:37:29us,
00:37:30it has
00:37:30bought
00:37:31us
00:37:31and
00:37:34trust
00:37:34to us
00:37:35bring
00:37:36others
00:37:37back
00:37:37to
00:37:38Jesus.
00:37:39In the name
00:37:40of the
00:37:40Father,
00:37:40and of the
00:37:40Son,
00:37:41and of the
00:37:41Holy Spirit.
00:37:42Amen.
00:37:43Amen.
00:37:44Amen.
00:37:44Amen.
00:37:44Let us now rise
00:38:01and together
00:38:01profess our
00:38:02faith.
00:38:03I believe
00:38:04in one
00:38:05God,
00:38:05the Father,
00:38:06the Almighty,
00:38:08maker of heaven
00:38:08and earth,
00:38:09of all that is
00:38:10seen and unseen.
00:38:12I believe in one
00:38:13Lord,
00:38:14Jesus Christ,
00:38:15the only Son of God,
00:38:17eternally begotten
00:38:18of the Father,
00:38:19God from God,
00:38:20light from light,
00:38:21true God from true God,
00:38:23begotten,
00:38:24not made,
00:38:24of one being
00:38:25with the Father.
00:38:27Through him
00:38:27all things
00:38:28were made
00:38:28for us
00:38:29and for our
00:38:30salvation.
00:38:30He came down
00:38:31from heaven
00:38:32by the power
00:38:33of the Holy Spirit.
00:38:35He was born
00:38:35of the Virgin Mary
00:38:37and became man.
00:38:40For our sake
00:38:41He was crucified
00:38:42under Pontius Pilate.
00:38:44He suffered death
00:38:45and was buried.
00:38:46On the third day
00:38:47He rose again
00:38:48in fulfillment
00:38:49of the Scriptures.
00:38:51He ascended
00:38:52into heaven
00:38:52and seated
00:38:53at the right hand
00:38:54of the Father.
00:38:56He will come again
00:38:57in glory
00:38:57to judge the living
00:38:58and the dead
00:38:59and His kingdom
00:39:00will have no end.
00:39:02I believe
00:39:02in the Holy Spirit,
00:39:04the Lord
00:39:05and giver of life
00:39:06who proceeds
00:39:07from the Father
00:39:08with the Father
00:39:09and the Son.
00:39:10He is worshipped
00:39:11and glorified.
00:39:12He has spoken
00:39:13through the prophets.
00:39:15I believe
00:39:15in one holy
00:39:16Catholic
00:39:17and apostolic church.
00:39:19I acknowledge
00:39:20one baptism
00:39:20for the forgiveness
00:39:21of sins.
00:39:22I look for
00:39:23the resurrection
00:39:24of the dead
00:39:24and the life
00:39:25of the world
00:39:26to come.
00:39:27Amen.
00:39:28The Lord
00:39:30be with you.
00:39:32We approach
00:39:33and speak
00:39:34confidently
00:39:35to our Father
00:39:36whose great compassion
00:39:38wipes out
00:39:39our offenses
00:39:39and calls us
00:39:41to reconcile
00:39:42others.
00:39:43Our response
00:39:44will be,
00:39:45Lord,
00:39:45hear our prayer
00:39:46for our prime bishop
00:39:47and Bishop Anthony
00:39:48and his brother

00:39:51deacons,
00:39:52and all who
00:39:52minister in the church
00:39:54that they guide us
00:39:55in being ministers
00:39:56of reconciliation.
00:39:58We pray to the Lord.
00:40:00Lord, hear our prayer.
00:40:02That we faithfully
00:40:03proclaim the word
00:40:04and evangelize
00:40:06by our trusting
00:40:07and confident
00:40:08proclamation
00:40:08of reconciliation
00:40:09in Christ.
00:40:11We pray to the Lord.
00:40:13Lord, hear our prayer.
00:40:15That all our youth
00:40:16may place their full trust
00:40:17and confidence
00:40:18in God.
00:40:19We pray to the Lord.
00:40:21Lord, hear our prayer.
00:40:23For all who need forgiveness
