00:00or Andrew Abbott of the Cincinnati Reds yeah I mean he's got the right manager to let him go
00:04right Terry Francona is like all right go out there pitch 10 if you have to that's like
00:07the rare manager that will let him do it five strikeouts one walk at Cleveland and Abbott
00:15finally George it took like three years but it finally feels like the sleeper status of Abbott
00:21is finally coming through yeah right and remember he pitches his home games in uh in the great
00:28American smallpox there and uh you said earlier in the show I am on Cincinnati to uh I believe it's
00:34the women's division it might be to make the playoffs but either way neither one's probably
00:37happening uh I keep going on this team I thought Francona Craig would be able to fix the problems
00:42they were having the stupid stuff you know the the baseball fundamentals of you you know getting
00:47thrown out of third base uh with less than uh two outs that sort of thing when he's can't have
00:51stupid baseball mistakes happen over and over again he's done that but uh not enough there so uh
00:56good for Abbott he's a pitcher I do like here Craig I have a hard time trusting him it still is a
01:02great American small park I'm always afraid of that blow up you know the wind's blowing out the
01:06ball's carrying and forget about it you know seven runs in three innings here but he has pitched very
01:10well here and not only uh you know that pitcher of the week but I wonder if he's becoming their ace
01:15now that Hunter Green is out could be yeah could be could be reds are not like thick with pitching
01:21all right so if Kodai Senga is out here's the guy that's going to pick them up David Peterson
01:25George that's your ace of the week wait a second is that a nine by his name usually it's a five
01:31or like a six or a five and two thirds yeah that that was this might have been a bigger shock than
01:37Abbott right uh Peterson he did it against the Nationals okay not the greatest hitting team on the
01:42planet but still uh he shut somebody out nine innings yeah it might be a slight dig slight dig at our
01:47producer slight little small who Samuel knows a Washington Nationals fan I guess that's just says
01:52enough about Sam as it is he's had enough of his own problems there oh he pitched very well here
01:56six strikeouts no walks here the Mets uh you know I forget if we talked about it on air or during the
02:02break here they're an interesting team right because their pitching staff Senga gone right Peterson
02:07McGill uh you know Minaya when he returns here Montas has been terrible on his rehab by the way
02:13uh they're just a bunch of threes and fours right Blackburn who pitched very well last night but
02:18they're getting the job done I do think their starting pitching will regress eventually here
02:22but the hitting hasn't been there yet you know really as great as we thought it was going to be
02:27outside of Alonzo and Lindor I think that will get better better as the season goes all along here
02:31so they may go up to what we thought they were going to be Mets are an interesting team
02:35Stearns the GM does not believe in handing out big contracts to big pitchers because he believes
02:40they're all going to break down here so what he's done with Milwaukee let guys walk instead here
02:44he's doing the same thing with the Mets here so uh I don't know what they'll do at the deadline
02:48to try and shore up that pitching staff yeah I mean believe it or not we're a little bit over a month
02:52away from uh the trade deadline that'll be a fun show all right uh Sam's ace of the week is and now
02:59this makes some sense here is the guy that was the furthest thing from an ace over the last two starts
03:04that's Jesus Lozardo of the Philadelphia Phillies boy talk about a strange up and down
03:08Lozardo gives up like 20 runs in two starts and then posts a six inning 10 strikeout one earned run
03:16performance against the Chicago Cubs and George I mean baseball is just truly an incredible sport
03:24right like they talk to Lozardo and the guy was like yeah I was like tipping my pitches and they're
03:31like what and you go back and you watch the video which I never would have watched and it's as clear
03:36as day to anybody who's looking for somebody tipping pitches with the way that he was holding
03:41the ball and he has it corrected my guess is all systems go for in the future but man baseball that
03:48will give you any any advantage here if you're a pitcher if you screw up you're gonna get crushed
03:54it's amazing isn't it that people could pick that up so easily because uh I saw the same thing you saw
04:00my god I've never seen it but and they show it to you like oh god yeah they'll pick these guys
04:04hysteria they're watching video and they found it there the sad part is how many people didn't
04:09start Lozardo this week all right because you know he was getting crushed and it was against the Cubs
04:13now a team that's been crushing baseballs so you may not have wanted to start him anyway all right
04:17you probably would if he was pitching that well but I can understand you not starting him this week
04:21because I don't know I don't have in any league I did try to acquire him but I probably wouldn't have
04:24started him this week I would have thought about it if I had someone equal or close to equal to him
04:28I would have stayed away versus the Cubs here especially with the way he had been pitching
