05 June- National weather forecast presented by Honor Criswick
Transcript
00:00Hello there, good evening. How much rain have you seen today and is there any more on its
00:05way? Well there's certainly going to be further spells of rain across parts of the south as
00:09we head through this evening. This band moving its way eastwards at times, pushing northwards,
00:13bringing some outbreaks of rain across Sussex, Kent, potentially parts of East Anglia as
00:17we head through the first part of the evening, eventually clearing away and then a second
00:21band of rain pushing in from the west, leading to quite a wet start across Cheshire, Lancashire
00:26for example, and elsewhere across England and Wales. This turning quite heavy at times
00:31and elsewhere, yes, there is a risk of showers, particularly in the west, but there'll also
00:35be some clearer skies where temperatures may just dip down a little bit more, particularly
00:39across the northeast of Scotland, but otherwise plenty of cloud which is going to keep those
00:43temperatures up. Then Friday looks fairly similar to what we saw on Thursday, bands of rain moving
00:49their way eastwards, but this time it looks to clear into the North Sea a little bit quicker,
00:54but still it is going to bring some heavy, potentially quite blustery spells of rain during
00:57the morning. And then it leads us into a day of further sunny spells and showers. Though
01:02across central and southern parts, fewer showers, so it might be quite a dry day for many areas
01:07and feeling a little bit warmer, temperatures a degree or two up and a bit more sunshine, which
01:12is going to make things feel a little bit more pleasant. Into the evening, still more showers,
01:18yes, particularly into the west, but they're eventually clearing away. But then once again,
01:23another band following on behind, more cloud, outbreaks of rain leading us into an unsettled
01:28start for the weekend. Once again, it could turn quite blustery at times, particularly across
01:33the south, and yes, there is a risk of some heavy and persistent downpours too. But once
01:37again, particularly across the very far northeast of Scotland, remaining mostly dry here, some
01:42clearer skies, so temperatures dipping down a bit more, but once again, many areas seeing
01:46quite a mild start. That obviously being offset by the outbreaks of rain, which are set to continue
01:51through much of the day. And we do need to keep an eye out on these areas of rain, particularly
01:56across the south, turning very heavy through the course of the day, potentially seeing some
02:00quite thundery outbreaks. So keep an eye on our social media channels and on our website,
02:04as there is a chance we could see some warnings. But otherwise, an unsettled start to the weekend,
02:09sunny spells, showers, a risk of thundery downpours, and temperatures once again, mid to high
02:14teens, but that being offset by the unsettled weather. Those showers eventually clearing away
02:20into the evening as that low pressure drifts its way eastwards once more, and then a slight
02:24ridge of high pressure on Sunday, so that's certainly going to be the better day of the
02:28weekend. But look out behind me, further frontal systems, further areas of low pressure bringing
02:33brought towards us, almost like a conveyor belt as the jet stream shifts them towards the
02:38country. So more changeable, more unsettled weather as we head into next week. But of course,
