Hello there, good evening. Storm Darragh is set to bring a very unsettled weekend with
00:05
heavy outbreaks of rain, some snow across hills in Scotland and some very strong winds.
00:11
There are multiple Met Office warnings issued including yellow and amber warnings and a
00:16
red wind warning issued for western parts of Wales and parts of south-west England too.
00:21
So do stay up to date on our website for those. Starting off then by taking a look at the
00:26
bigger picture then, here's Storm Darragh just to the north-west of the country. It's
00:30
going to drag in some frontal systems bringing heavy outbreaks of rain, snow at times across
00:35
parts of Scotland. And take a look at the squeeze in the Isle of Bars too, so some very
00:39
strong and gusty winds across a large portion of the country, particularly in the west as
00:43
we head into the overnight period. So heavy outbreaks of rain, there's continuing to fall
00:48
as snow over high ground in Scotland and very blustery winds across the country, particularly
00:53
in western areas where we do have those amber and red warnings issued. So some gales, if
00:59
not severe gales at times as we head into the overnight period. And I do just want to
01:04
draw your attention to Northern Ireland where actually for a time overnight those winds
01:07
are going to fall very light and then as soon as that system starts to cross its way eastwards
01:14
from Northern Ireland, those winds are going to strengthen quite dramatically. So this
01:18
is where we're going to start to see the gales, the severe gales. We could see wind gust speeds
01:21
of between 70 to 80 miles per hour, perhaps up to 90 miles per hour where we do have that
01:27
red warning issued. So it is going to be a very blustery night. And taking a look at
01:31
the temperatures too, we could see lows of around 2 to 3 Celsius but in those brisk winds
01:36
that's really going to add on to the wind chill too. So it's actually going to feel
01:39
much chillier in reality. Then through into Saturday, still multiple Met Office warnings
01:45
enforced. We'll continue to see those outbreaks of rain as that low continues to swirl around
01:50
the country. Still heavy at times and still falling as snow across hills in Scotland
01:55
as well. And it's still going to be a very blustery day. Those strong winds continuing
01:59
through much of the day and still the amber warning enforced for wind and also for rain
02:04
for parts of the country as well. And taking a look at temperatures as well across parts
02:09
of the south, highs of around 8 to 9 Celsius. But once again in those very brisk winds it's
02:14
actually going to feel much chillier in reality when you add on that wind chill. So a very
02:18
unsettled day and feeling very chilly in those blustery winds alongside those outbreaks
02:24
of rain as well. Then through into the evening we will continue to see further outbreaks
02:30
of rain becoming more confined to eastern areas, more likely to see some clear spells
02:34
across Northern Ireland, parts of Scotland too. But even here still a few showers moving
02:39
through and still falling as snow across high ground too. So perhaps some more drier weather
02:43
on the cards but still plenty of rain across the east and southeast. And once again it
02:48
is going to be a rather chilly night on offer particularly in parts of the north. Then
02:54
through for the second half of the weekend we're likely to see things calm down slightly
02:58
but we are still going to have outbreaks of rain continuing across the east and southeastern
03:03
parts of England. This still could be heavy at times too. A few showers starting to feed
03:08
in as well across eastern coasts of Scotland and England. Once again still a chance these
03:12
could fall as snow across higher ground. The best of the brightness likely across Northern
03:17
Ireland, western parts of Scotland. It is going to be largely dry across Wales and parts
03:21
of the southwest too but those strong winds are set to continue. So it's going to be another
03:25
blustery day but winds not quite as strong as they're likely to be Friday night into
03:30
Saturday. And temperatures once again highs of around 9 Celsius but still in those brisk
03:36
winds once again adding to the wind chill there. So another blustery and chilly day
03:41
on offer for the second half of the weekend. So Storm Dara is set to bring very strong
03:46
winds, heavy rain likely to cause some disruption as we head into the weekend and there are
03:51
multiple Met Office warnings in force. So do stay up to date to those on our website
03:57
and also across social media. We'll be giving you updates on the storm. That's it from me.
04:01
Stay safe. Bye bye.
