00:00Staff.
00:02Hi, Mr. Mayor.
00:03Yes, how are you?
00:04Good.
00:04Just following up a little bit on Monica's question, actually.
00:08You know, when Cuomo said that the state would be better off if he hadn't left, it was kind
00:14of taking a shot a little bit as well at Hochul.
00:16Do you think that he would have done a better job than Hochul over the last four years?
00:21And second question for you, he also had this plan to remove people who are mentally ill
00:29from Rikers, and he said low-level offenses, people who have committed low-level offenses
00:33or non-violent offenses.
00:36Now, just a few moments ago, you had people on the NYPD here talking about how they have
00:40arrested people who have these low-level offenses.
00:44Just kind of, this is kind of a wonky question, but just, you know, what would this do for
00:49especially NYPD officers who are taking their time to arrest some of these people for low-level
00:53offenses, just see them back out on the streets just like this, and just also just the infrastructure
00:58capacity as well for this?
01:01Yeah, okay, a couple things.
01:04Governor Hochul helped fix the bail reform.
01:09Governor Hochul helped fix the mental health crises.
01:15Governor Hochul helped fix his cannabis law.
01:20Governor Hochul helped fix the criminal justice problems that we were facing.
01:24Governor Hochul modified the congestion pricing situation that he put in law.
01:31Governor Hochul dealt with the cannabis problem.
01:35And so, I'm just really baffled about this.
01:39Which Cuomo are we dealing with?
01:41These were all of his initiatives.
01:44And so now he's saying, the initiatives that I did, I'm going to fix.
01:49I'm going to, what he did with tier six and employees, I had to fix that.
01:55What he did with allowing cannabis shops, he said we stood by and allowed cannabis shops
02:00to open up.
02:01That was your law.
02:02We went up to Albany to fix that.
02:04What we're doing with these recidivisms, that was his bail reform law.
02:09And so, I don't know, I'm not, I'm really not quite understanding what he's saying.
02:14He really believes that people don't know his history.
02:20And to say now, you know, I made a mistake, I shouldn't step down.
02:25I made a mistake, I shouldn't have tier six.
02:26I made a mistake, I shouldn't have stopped Bill de Blasio from raising the minimum wage.
02:31I made a mistake, I made a mistake, I made a mistake.
02:33I'm going to be all over the country.
02:38This stuff is just, I mean, this is like hilarious.
02:41You guys would never let me get away with this.
02:46You guys would have never let me get away with this.
02:52You know, the move should have been, Marsha, he should have just sat down and said, I screwed up.
02:58I screwed up.
03:01Right.
03:02You guys would, you know what, Katie would follow me around with, he saw a phone in my face if I would have done that.
03:13You know, and you know what's interesting, the thing, the thing that he, the thing that he, I'm telling you, what he really doesn't understand,
03:23being mayor is different from being governor.
03:29Being mayor, you know, I can't even tell you folks what it's like being mayor.
03:35New Yorkers have five fingers.
03:39You know the one they love the most?
03:41Being mayor, you are, you are in the trenches.
03:45You don't, people just don't walk around and say, you know, you're not going to be protected.
03:50You could be sitting down in the restaurant, eating the meal.
03:53New Yorkers don't care.
03:54You know, you could be on the subway station.
03:57New Yorkers don't care.
03:59And when you look at the life he lived as HUD, secretary, as AG, as the dad of, as the son of a governor, as governor,
04:11that's a different life from being the mayor of the city of New York.
04:17So what life did I live?
04:19Police officer, people always telling cops how they feel, state senator, borough president, and now mayor.
04:28You better have a thick skin and you can't hide being mayor.
04:34Everyone knows who you are as the mayor.
04:37Everyone knows who you are.
04:39So, you know, he, mayor you can't hide in the suburbs.
04:46I'm telling you, it's a different job being, of being the mayor.
04:50And also the mentally ill from Rikers.
