00:00Good evening. Yes, it's all changed as we go through the rest of today and into Tuesday.
00:06There's a weather front pushing its way in from the northwest and it's going to march across the whole of the country.
00:11Yes, it will bring some rain, some strong winds for sure, but also something a little bit fresher following in behind.
00:17And so there is going to be a slightly cooler feel to things, but worth bearing in mind at this time of year, slightly cooler,
00:24well, it should still feel relatively warm if you get any decent sunshine.
00:28But let's look at the details. And as we go through the end of Monday, then that front arriving across Northern Ireland and Scotland brings some heavy, persistent rain,
00:36some strong blustery winds. Rainfall total wise, we're looking at potentially 20 to 30 millimetres perhaps over some parts of Western Scotland,
00:44maybe a little bit more in some places and a large chunk of this coming in just six to nine hours.
00:49So pretty heavy rain for a time could cause some localised issues.
00:52But as we go through the early hours of Tuesday, it is going to clear away from Scotland and Northern Ireland and be lingering across parts of Northern England,
01:00towards the Midlands and across parts of Wales and perhaps even fringing into Devon and Cornwall as well.
01:06Behind the front, there will still be some further blustery weather and also fairly frequent showers feeding in across parts of Scotland and Northern Ireland,
01:14staying mostly fine ahead of the front. However, yes, there will be some clear skies around, but because of the generally blustery field of things,
01:21it's not going to be a chilly night. No, pretty mild. Most places holding up in double figures.
01:27Then as we go through Tuesday, this front then lingering across some central parts does continue its way southeastward.
01:34So in the southeast, after a fine start, it is going to turn cloudy and a bit wet as we go through the latter part of the morning towards lunchtime
01:40and that front lingering for a time across parts of the far southeast, not clearing away until later in the afternoon.
01:47Behind it, a good deal of sunny spells breaking through for most places, but also plenty of showers.
01:53The showers always most frequent and heaviest across parts of Scotland in particular,
01:57but across other parts of Northern Western UK, likely to see a fair few showers pushing their way through.
02:02There will also be some blustery winds still. Yes, the strongest winds will have been across Scotland as the front pushes through overnight,
02:10but nonetheless still some relatively strong gusts, so those showers could be pretty blustery.
02:15Now, because of that fresher air that's coming through, temperatures are going to be a little bit lower than they have been recently.
02:21Across parts of the Midlands, maybe still just about scraping into the low 20s, but elsewhere a few degrees lower than this,
02:27and actually across parts of the southeast if that front lingers for a little while longer
02:31and we have the remnants of it with a bit more cloud hanging back for a little while,
02:36then temperatures could be quite suppressed here, so a fresher feel for most for sure.
02:40Then as we go through Tuesday evening, still some showers around, mostly across northern parts,
02:45and here they could be merging into some longer spells of rain for a time across Scotland,
02:49and a few showers continuing maybe towards the southwest as well.
02:52Otherwise, a good deal of dry and clear weather, and with that fresher air that's come in,
02:57I am expecting Tuesday night into Wednesday to be a bit chillier.
03:01Well, maybe chillier is pushing it a little bit, but definitely cooler and fresher than some recent nights.
03:06Many places, even the more built-up areas, just about dropping into single digits.
03:11And then through Wednesday itself, we again are looking at a pretty showery day,
03:16particularly across parts of Scotland, but even northern Ireland, northern England,
03:19seeing a fair few showers, and actually western, southwestern parts seeing more showers developing
03:24as we go through, particularly into the afternoon.
03:27The showers will become more widespread as we go through the day,
03:30but eastern parts, eastern Midlands as well, likely to have a greater chance of avoiding the showers,
03:36so some places could stay largely dry.
03:38But if you do catch a shower, there is the potential that it could be a bit on the heavy side.
03:44The winds are going to be a little bit lighter than on Tuesday,
03:47the low pressure that's bringing the blustery weather pushing a bit further away,
03:50but with that fresher air kicking in, really, temperatures aren't going to be much higher.
03:56In fact, they're going to be a little bit lower for some places.
03:59Low to mid, possibly high teens, really, at best.
04:02So, like I said at the start, if you get any sunshine, it's not going to feel too bad at all.
04:07It is meteorological summer, after all, but definitely a fresher feel than we've perhaps become used to of late.
04:13Now, as we go through the end of the week, there's more changeable weather to come.
04:17Low pressure never really too far away, so more blustery winds and various features
04:23bringing the focus for some showery rain most days, really.
04:27By their very nature, showery bursts are going to be hit and miss,
04:30so there will be some dry weather around, but most of us are likely to see a bit of rain at times, too.
