00:00Hello again. Looking ahead to the weekend and whilst Sunday will bring a few showers, it's on Saturday when we have the risk of some heavy torrential and thundery downpours.
00:10There's some forcing coming in from the southwest and this is going to lead to some heavy showery rain arriving as we go overnight across England and Wales and also over Northern Ireland.
00:22Heavy showery bursts pushing their way through and these feeding into western and southern parts of Scotland through the early hours of Saturday as well.
00:29Towards the north and eastern Scotland, staying dry with some clear skies and here it could turn perhaps a little bit fresh for some places elsewhere, generally holding up in high single figures or double digits.
00:39So a relatively mild night for most. But we get off to a fairly wet start in many places as we go through Saturday morning.
00:47Worth bearing in mind, there will be plenty of showery rain around.
00:50Now there will be some drier and perhaps even brighter spells mixed in with this, but all the time there's the risk of some intense downpours,
00:58especially across southern parts where there's likely to be some thunder kicking off and this brings some hail and some frequent lightning with it as well.
01:07Further north, some showers are quite likely still, but it's across southern parts where we have the greatest risk of some disruption.
01:14That's because here there's the potential for some torrential downpours with 10 to 15 millimetres perhaps in just an hour or so.
01:21And we could see totals building up 30, 40 millimetres in some places if you get a few downpours or one after the other.
01:29So do watch out. There could be some localised flooding as well as, like I said, frequent lightning and some hail.
01:34Otherwise, and well, where we get any drier or brighter spells in between those showers, it's not going to feel too bad.
01:41There is going to be a fair breeze around, particularly towards the south and also the north-west of the UK,
01:46but in the shelter from this, in that sunshine, temperatures should get to highs in the mid to high teens Celsius fairly widely.
01:54Then, as we go through later on, still some hefty showers to watch out for as we go through into Saturday evening,
01:59but most of them will start to ease and the focus of the showers pushes it away towards the east.
02:04There's still some lingering across some east and north-eastern parts of England and a few showers dotted around towards the west as well.
02:11Most places, though, turning largely dry with some clear skies, and so it is perhaps going to be a slightly fresher night Saturday night into Sunday than this coming night.
02:19But nonetheless, temperatures not dropping a huge amount, so not a really chilly start to the day on Sunday.
02:25But it is definitely going to be a brighter and drier day for many of us.
02:29Still a few bursts of showery rain across the east first thing, that quickly clears away, and then a scattering of showers coming in from the west.
02:35Some of them could still be a little bit on the heavy side, but not on the same scale as what we're expecting through Saturday.
02:42So whilst the odd rumble of thunder can't be ruled out, I'm not really expecting any significant impacts from any of the showers as we could see through Saturday.
02:50There will also be some bright sunny spells again on Sunday and perhaps feeling a little bit warmer than on Saturday just because there's going to be more sunshine on offer compared to the first day of the weekend.
03:03Then as we go into next week, well, there's still some further changeable weather to come, and there are some question marks about exactly what's going to happen.
03:10A bit of a ridge of high pressure across the south on Monday could quieten things down for a time, but more unsettled weather coming into the northwest as we go through, well, later Monday and into Tuesday.
03:20So some wetter and windier weather here.
03:23The exact position of this low pressure, well, that is a bit uncertain.
03:27If it's a bit further west, it would allow for something a bit warmer perhaps to come at least into southern parts as we go through Wednesday and into Thursday.
03:35That then brings the risk of some thundery downpours, so something to keep an eye on.
03:39Whatever you're up to this weekend, have a great one.
