00:00Keyshawn Henderson is the fastest rising 2026 recruit.
00:04Here's why he's generating the most buzz in his class.
00:11Keyshawn Henderson has the potential to be one of the best quarterbacks in college football.
00:15Ryan, why should college football fans know more about a kid who's currently committed to Houston, of all places?
00:22Well, I mean, everyone's trying to make him flip, obviously, at this point, right?
00:25Because he's, Joe, 6'3", 185 pounds-ish, somewhere in that ballpark.
00:30And this kid is such a good athlete that teams have recruited him at corner.
00:34They've recruited him at wide receiver.
00:36He has stood tall and said, hey, I am going to be a quarterback on the college level,
00:41which is why he ended up committing to Houston originally.
00:43They were one of the teams that gave him that opportunity.
00:45But now teams have kind of turned the other way and said, like, hey, you can come be a quarterback
00:49because he's fresh off of a very good junior season.
00:52He has all the God-given tools to be a dynamic dual-threat player, obviously.
00:56But this is a rare athlete at the quarterback position that you just don't see come out too often.
01:02His progression has been really exciting because, as you just talked about,
01:05originally he was recruited as a receiver, defensive back, because he was so athletic.
01:11And you see that on film.
01:12You see a guy that is just making everybody and their mother miss when they try and tackle him.
01:17And he's also willing to run through tacklers.
01:19So he's got the grit.
01:21He's got this mentality of no one is going to take me down.
01:24I'm just going to keep fighting.
01:26But now you saw on his junior highlights and some of the things that you hear when he shows up at these camps
01:31is that the ball is just flying off his hands.
01:34You see that the arm strength is now there.
01:37He is willing to be aggressive.
01:39My biggest thing, Ryan, that I always talk about with quarterbacks,
01:42I want a guy who's willing to take shots, has the arm to take those shots, and trusts his body, trusts his arm talent.
01:50He is one of those players.
01:51And I can totally see that translating early on to first-year production as a freshman or a redshirt freshman.
01:59And, Joe, let's get something straight, though.
02:00He wasn't just being recruited to play wide receiver and corner on the college level.
02:04He was being recruited to play those positions by some of the biggest schools in college football, too.
02:09This is a high-level athlete that could have played whatever position he felt like.
02:14But to your point, the passing has come a long way.
02:18When you look at his sophomore film, there was natural arm talent,
02:22but it also just kind of seemed a little bit mechanical, didn't seem supernatural.
02:26He took a big step as far as kind of the naturalness of him throwing a football in the junior season.
02:30I really think that he took a massive step forward.
02:32And when you combine that with the athleticism he has,
02:34a lot of people do the whole compare any athletic quarterback to Lamar Jackson.
02:40And usually it's crazy.
02:42Like, let's not do that, ultimately, because Lamar Jackson is one of the most rare players
02:46that we've ever seen play the quarterback position.
02:48But I see it with Henderson a little bit, right?
02:50He's long.
02:51He's gangly.
02:52He's got kind of that incredible strength profile.
02:54Despite not being the biggest quarterback of all time,
02:57he's got an elastic arm, and he's a dynamic athlete.
03:00So this is a kid that, when we look back on it, could be one of the most dynamic run-throw quarterbacks
03:06that we've seen enter college football in some time.
03:08He's got that type of upside to him if he continues to round out his game.
03:12He's now on the radar of a lot of these top programs to be an actual quarterback recruit.
03:17No more are they talking about him as a receiver or a defensive back.
03:21And 247 Sports recently updated their rankings.
03:23He is the number four quarterback per the composite.
03:27And just overall, he is their number two quarterback, third overall recruit nationally,
03:31number one in the state of Texas, because his impact is so visible.
03:36Here's what's really interesting, though.
03:37Peel back the curtain for a second.
03:39We kind of try to remain a little bit ambiguous sometimes when we're talking about some of these
03:44players because there's a shot that they could flip.
03:47They could change their mind.
03:48But when I was digging into him, did you know his high school coach is Michael Bishop,
03:53the former Kansas State quarterback?
03:56I didn't know this layer, though.
03:58Willie Fritz was Bishop's coach at Blinn Community College.
04:03So the tie goes so far back.
04:05I was over here thinking, like, hey, maybe Colin Klein's going to come on in as two former
04:11Kansas State quarterbacks.
04:12Maybe sway him a little bit.
04:13But I feel like that there is this bond that's being created, not only being the first school
04:19to give him a shot, but also knowing that Fritz and Bishop have a relationship with one another
04:24kind of makes this whole thing pretty funny to look at and what to expect.
04:29Well, it's funny.
04:29Michael Bishop's name has been popping up everywhere because there's also the athlete
04:33Bishop that just committed to Texas, which is a cousin of Michael Bishop as well in the
04:372026 class.
04:38So a lot of relations to Michael Bishop, for whatever reason, both as a coach and as a
04:42literally a family relative, which is kind of funny to be able to see.
04:46I mean, do you ever remember Michael Bishop or even old enough to remember Michael Bishop
04:49at Kansas State?
04:50Okay.
04:51Makes me feel a little bit old because I do remember Michael Bishop when I was young at
04:54Kansas State.
04:54He was a dynamic quarterback.
04:55But as we kind of turn back to Henderson, it appears as of today, right?
05:02Like those Houston bonds are pretty strong.
05:04It doesn't mean that something won't change at some point because at the end of the day,
05:07some big time programs with a lot of money are coming after this young man.
05:11And he's got a lot of upside to be as good as we have seen.
05:14And I don't want to understate something, Joe.
05:16You mentioned top four quarterback in the class in the composite number two by 247 sports.
05:21Let's also remember, this is a great quarterback class in 2026, man.
05:25Like you have Jared Curtis, you have guys like Ryder Lyons.
05:28Like this is a very deep quarterback class.
05:30And that just speaks volume of the talent that a player like Henderson has.
