Transcript
00:00you just can't find high school linemen that can move the way that lamar brown can we're going to
00:07break down why he has the potential to be one of the best offensive or defensive linemen in the
00:13country once he gets to college lamar brown is one of the most athletic high school linemen
00:22recruits offensive or defensive that i've seen that i've put my eyes on what stood out to you
00:28about him because he completely blew me away well he's scary i uh the first part uh first number on
00:37his highlight tape is him just moving in space i think literally the first play is him pulling and
00:43absolutely just decimating some poor kid on on a just a kick out block and it's just like
00:49this kid immediately from an explosiveness perspective is different joe i mean like at
00:556'4 285 pounds and with a body type that'll play well over 300 like this kid his explosiveness
01:01short area movement skills are pretty dang rare man which makes a lot of sense that he's being
01:06recruited by some to play defensive line by some others to play offensive line i think there's
01:11gonna be a unique conversation of like what spot ultimately does fit him best but we're talking
01:15about a really really athletic kid on the offensive and defensive line yeah there's some projection on
01:22how good of an athlete he is i believe on his huddle he had projected that he could run in the four
01:28eights now we always take those numbers with a grain of salt it still shows on his tape how fluid of a
01:36mover he is incredibly flexible he's got great feet but the one thing that i wrote down he's one of these
01:41kids where he'll put you in the ground and he'll be smiling while he's doing it i think that's hard to
01:45come by with offensive or defensive line recruits sometimes because these kids are big but maybe they don't
01:51really know how to use their size some of them aren't truly as physical as you would hope them
01:55to be but holy cow this is a player who plays with the just the aggressive mentality that translates to
02:01him starting immediately as a freshman that seems to be one of the biggest barriers is that a lot of
02:07kids aren't ready to go to war with guys that are two three years older than them that are grown-ass men
02:12sometimes 23 years old with all this covet eligibility in the extra years and juco and whatnot
02:19i think that he could show up right away day one and find some sort of a contributing role if it is
02:25as a rotational defensive tackle or starting in the interior at offensive line for a team that needs
02:31a starting guard well i think i think a team it's going to really depend on what position ultimately
02:36they want him as it's you know to your point if he is a defensive lineman on the college level i think
02:41that that transition is a little bit smoother and a little bit earlier because at 285 plus pounds
02:46he can walk into a college defensive line room and be ready to play and at least ready to have a role
02:51in a defense but offensive line is a little bit of a different animal obviously right like that is much
02:56more of a being being able to put on solid weight i think would be very advantageous for him it's more
03:02of a technical aspect i i was literally listening to a interview recently with jc latham that went to
03:09alabama a couple years ago where he talked about on the defensive line sometimes you just have run
03:13throughs and you have one gap opportunities where technique doesn't really matter but on the
03:16offensive line you need to be able to be a technically refined football player all the time
03:20so i do think that that will that will show just how quickly that a player like lamar brown will be
03:26able to acclimate to the college game but certainly the tools the physicality it's all there for long
03:32term for this kid to be an excellent football player on whatever side of football that he chooses
03:35let's just quickly go over his background here before we close out he is currently ranked as the number
03:41one defensive lineman per 247 sports the number one recruit in the state of louisiana and then on
03:48their national rankings overall he is the seventh overall recruit again i think that the big driving
03:54force for this it is hard to find linemen offensive defensive that are this far along in their physical
04:00development they're on field development he is earning a lot of the buzz and recognition that he's gotten
04:06to this point yeah well here's a hot take joe i think it's a little bit of a hot take i think that
04:11he's a really good defensive lineman but i actually like him better on the offensive line i think that
04:14he has a higher upside just me particularly speaking on the offensive line i think he could be an
04:18excellent defensive lineman as well on the college level but he actually kind of reminds me of you
04:23remember lyell collins that played at lsu that was a really good player for the dallas cowboys
04:26played offensive tackle it at lsu mostly but then he goes to the nfl and he develops into a
04:32butt kicker at guard and that's what i see with lamar brown like i think that he could play tackle
04:36on the college level on the offensive side of the ball i think that he could be a dominant force
04:40on the interior if he ends up playing defensive line i think that he still has a really nice ceiling
04:44to work with but i am kind of interested to see if he does end up playing offensive line long term
04:49because i think that his upside is pretty immense on that side of the ball folks comment below where you
04:53want to see lamar brown play hit that like button and subscribe we'll talk to you later
