00:00USC just landed a huge commitment from what could be the next Brock Bowers.
00:05Stay tuned to find out everything that you need to know about Mark Bowman.
00:13Lincoln Riley's been on a tear with the 2026 recruiting class.
00:17He just added another key piece in the state right in their backyard from modern day.
00:23Mark Bowman, the number one tight end in the class.
00:25Ryan, what do college football fans and USC fans need to know about this very, very talented kid?
00:31I mean, everything about him is Brock Bowers, Joe.
00:34Like the movement skills, the ability to play attached and detached,
00:38but like the overall just upside of being a mismatched weapon.
00:43I mean, he was originally part of the 2027 class, reclassified to 2026.
00:46And I mean, that just speaks to how talented this kid is,
00:49because it's not like he's playing in a low class of football, like a mid class of football.
00:52He's playing out at modern day and playing the likes of St. John Bosco and Servite
00:56and all these great schools each and every week.
00:59And he's a dominant fixture.
01:01So you have a six foot four, almost 230 pound tight end who can move around everywhere
01:05and is an absolute mismatched weapon against linebackers and safeties.
01:08He is the number one tight end in the class, the number three recruit in the state of California.
01:1331 overall.
01:14This is a big get in what has been an amazing class for Lincoln Riley.
01:19Like plenty of time for them to add some more names or for things to change.
01:23But do you think that Bowman is a kid that can step on the field right away and contribute early?
01:29Kind of like what Brock Bowers did.
01:31I mean, it's going to be a little bit trickier for him just because he is a reclass guy, right?
01:35So like technically he was a sophomore last year who reclassified to be a junior.
01:39And he, I mean, he's going to play this upcoming year, which will be big for his physical development.
01:44But this is a younger dude, obviously, right?
01:47Like this is a guy that is kind of just jumping up in competition because he's so physically gifted.
01:51And obviously he has the credits to be able to make it work academically.
01:54So I don't know if I'm quite ready to say he'll be Brock Bowers as a true freshman because Brock Bowers was special at the University of Georgia when he was a true freshman.
02:02But I will say talent wise, as long as he's physically develops and he's able to fill out enough, I think this kid can make an instant impact on the game.
02:09Absolutely. You just don't see too many tight ends as big as he is with the frame that he has to add a substantial amount of weight that move the way he do, man.
02:17Like he, even if you don't want him to block a ton early on in his career, he's a guy that could play in the slot.
02:23He can move around. Like there's just no limitations to how he can impact the passing game.
02:27One thing though, that just stands out to me, not about him, but how Lincoln Riley has been moving.
02:33I think that my biggest criticism of him is that he hasn't done a good job of recruiting in that Southern California region.
02:40He's just not kept a lot of the biggest names in the area. A lot of guys have gone elsewhere.
02:45He is putting a prime focus on that at the current moment.
02:49He has four guys for the top 15 California recruits committed to play for USC.
02:56That is what gets this program back on track. It might not be immediate, but this team reaching its potential.
03:03And when it's been at its best is when they've controlled all of West coast recruiting, this is how they get back to where they need to be getting one of the top kids in the class from the state of California.
03:14I mean, historically speaking, that's what they do, right? Like you keep the best players at home and then you're a national brand.
03:19So you go occasionally to like New Jersey for Brian Cushing, for example, right? Like you were able to do that because of the brand that the Trojans have, but I agree with you.
03:27And it's been threatened by schools like Oregon, right? Like Oregon, the last couple of years, if they have a player that they love in the state of California, they feel like they can go out and they could beat USC for those kids.
03:38And ultimately you're going against Georgia. You're going against Oregon. You're going to get some heavy hitters for Mark Bowman.
03:43And being able to keep him in Southern California is an absolute monumental win for not only Lincoln Riley, but new general manager, Chad Bowden as well.
