Transcript
00:00If you're lining up against Chauncey Kennan, good luck.
00:04This five-stars film is scary good.
00:10Five-star cornerback Chauncey Kennan is electric to watch on film.
00:15Smooth, fast, explosive.
00:18Ryan, what stands out to you when you watch Kennan?
00:21I don't know about you, Joe, but I kind of like him at wide receiver
00:23more than I do a corner.
00:24I don't know.
00:25I did think that.
00:26He kind of made a mistake putting the wide receiver plays
00:29at the beginning of his highlights, but I do see where you're coming from.
00:32Yeah, I mean, he's explosive as all hell, man.
00:34I mean, football in his hands, playing in off-coverage, a corner.
00:37You definitely see when he puts his foot in the ground,
00:41he's able to explode.
00:42He is a really outstanding athlete, and he's got kind of like that wiry frame,
00:47and he doesn't look like he would be overly strong,
00:49but there are a couple reps on his film where you kind of see some play strength
00:53as well and ability to win through contact.
00:55So I know he's listed as a corner, but I'm very interested to see
00:59if there is some opportunity to potentially play wide receiver
01:01on the college level for some programs or if there's an opportunity
01:04to maybe play a little bit of both in some capacity
01:06because this kid, he's dynamite with the ball in his hands.
01:09Right.
01:10I wouldn't be shocked if this isn't a kid that we're talking about
01:12that maybe makes a transition to a different side of the ball.
01:15I know that there's a lot of guys that we're talking about this year
01:18that excel on offense and on defense.
01:21He's currently listed as the number two corner, a five-star corner recruit,
01:25and the number four player in the state of Florida.
01:28You see the background and just the overall dominance that he has
01:33with the recognition that he's receiving on these recruiting sites.
01:36He's also incredibly athletic outside of football.
01:40Track and field was a district qualifier for the high jump
01:43and the long jump as a sophomore.
01:45I think one thing that was just really stunning on his highlights,
01:50though, Ryan, was just how fast he moves.
01:51And I know it's hard to really pinpoint that stuff
01:55and analyze that on high school tape when it's grainy
01:58and it's from a distance, but that was the first thing
02:01that I noticed was how fast he was.
02:03I'm curious what his 40 time is going to be,
02:06what kind of numbers he's putting up with his athletic testing.
02:10Well, the schools that are recruiting him don't recruit slow guys, right?
02:13So ultimately, he has speed, he has explosiveness,
02:17and he has a good frame as well.
02:19I mean, he's skinny right now, but he is a legit probably six foot and a half,
02:23six foot one, and he's got pretty long, good length for the position as well,
02:26especially if he's playing corner on the next level.
02:28So I think there's a lot of upside for this kid,
02:31both developmentally and on the short term.
02:33I don't know if you agree with this, Joe,
02:34but he is one of these five stars that I didn't necessarily think day one contributor,
02:39like a guy that's going to come in and start for you at corner in 2026,
02:43but I do think that he's a guy, year two, year three,
02:46as he starts to get a lot of weight on his frame,
02:48that's when I think he makes a tremendous impact on the next level
02:51because he is kind of that, he's one of those taller, skinnier dudes
02:55that still does need to fill out his frame,
02:57but the athleticism and just the overall playmaking upside are through the roof.
