A mostly dry start to the day, although a little bit murky in some areas, especially across eastern areas where we see some low cloud off of the North Sea. This dryness will continue for many with plenty of sunshine, however there is a risk of showers as we go into the afternoon, particularly across Northern Ireland, southern parts of Scotland and northwest areas of England and Wales as well. The odd shower could be heavy with even lightning in places possible. Feeling warmer than yesterday for most of the UK. This is the Met Office UK Weather forecast for the evening of 20/05/2025. Bringing you today’s weather forecast is Honor Criswick.

00:00Hello there, good morning.
00:01Well, after a very dry spring, some showers this week could bring some long overdue rainfall
00:06for some.
00:07But to begin the day, it should be mostly dry, perhaps a little bit murky in some places,
00:11particularly across eastern counties with some North Sea low cloud, but it's eventually
00:16burning back towards coastal counties where it may linger through much of the day.
00:20Otherwise mostly dry, plenty of sunshine, but there is the risk of showers into the
00:24afternoon, particularly across Northern Ireland, southern parts of Scotland, northern parts
00:29of England and Wales as well.
00:31And the odd shower could be heavy, perhaps even the odd rumble of thunder, but most places
00:36should remain dry.
00:37Less cloud around compared to yesterday afternoon, all-to-all blue skies for many, and feeling
00:43a touch warmer too, highs reaching around 23 degrees Celsius in the south.
00:49Then into the evening, all eyes across central and southern areas.
00:53This occluded feature at first out to the southwest, eventually dragging in some more cloud, potentially
00:58some showery outbreaks by the time we reach Wednesday afternoon.
01:01So there's going to be a slightly different feel to the weather as we first wake up into
01:06Wednesday morning.
01:07More clouds, showers and slightly milder air drifting in across the south.
01:12But across Scotland, northern parts of England, Northern Ireland, dry, bright start today and
01:17feeling a little bit cooler here too.
01:19But the cloud and showers are set to stick around through much of the day, particularly across
01:23southern parts of England, southern parts of Wales.
01:25The odd shower could be heavy at times, but it's going to feel very different compared
01:30to the last few weeks or so.
01:31But Northern Ireland, Scotland, northern parts of England, it should remain mostly dry, plenty
01:36of sunshine that can't rule out still the odd shower across northern parts of England.
01:40But a slight change in the weather, a slight downturn on temperatures, but still highs reaching
01:45around 20 degrees Celsius.
01:46Then eventually we say goodbye to the cloud and showers across the south.
01:51And high pressure builds back in, bringing largely settled conditions to end the week.
01:56Though a cold front dragging in some colder air across the eastern flank of that high.
02:00So things starting to feel a little bit chilly, particularly overnight.
02:03And then it's all eyes out to the west from Saturday onwards.
02:06The beginning of the bank holiday looks set to be unsettled.
02:09More cloud outbreaks of rain moving through here.
02:12And if you want more updates on the week ahead weather, we can catch Alex Deacon here on YouTube.
02:16Otherwise, that's it from me.
02:17Bye bye.
