00:00Jackson Dart is one of these guys I've been waiting for.
00:03He's the Evel Knievel of quarterbacks.
00:10I have never seen a guy play the position like this.
00:14He takes people on physically.
00:16He takes them on with his fiery personality.
00:19And he'll take big hits and deliver strikes.
00:23He's a great competitor, and I'd love to coach him.
00:26I take pride in being somebody who's a program changer,
00:29an organization changer who goes in trying to bring a leadership aspect
00:33to the side of things that really make everybody around him better
00:35and then on the field.
00:37I feel like I'm the ultimate competitor who will do it, whatever it takes to win.
00:48You know me, you know I love football statistics.
00:52And let me tell you an impressive stat.
00:54The Chevy Silverado is the undisputed champion.
00:57Capability, versatility, and strength.
01:01That's a truck with MVP stats.
01:04Explore Chevy Silverado at Chevy.com.
01:07QB Class is presented by Chevy Silverado.
01:13Listen, we got a lot to do today, bro.
01:15We're going to have to go fast.
01:16I'm a big fan of your offense.
01:18Coach Kiffin and I go way back.
01:21And I hope you enjoy this because I am ready to go, man.
01:24Let's do it.
01:24Yep.
01:24I want to kind of start at the beginning with you.
01:27So you go to Roy High School.
01:29I know where that is in Utah.
01:30And you're running like a single-wing offense.
01:34And they're probably training you to run the ball a lot.
01:37Yep.
01:37And you look across the street, and there's this corner canyon high school
01:42that's just kicking everybody's ass.
01:44Yeah.
01:45So you transfer there.
01:46That's the school that Zach Wilson played at.
01:49Am I right?
01:49Yes, sir.
01:50So when you went to Corner Canyon, you know Zach Wilson?
01:54I do know Zach.
01:55Do you train with him?
01:56Yes, sir.
01:56He's a high pick.
01:57Is your skill level as good or better than his?
02:00Yes, sir.
02:01Is it as good or better?
02:02Yes, sir.
02:03Oh, you're not going to answer that trick question, are you?
02:05You come out of nowhere, and all of a sudden,
02:07you start throwing for touchdowns after touchdowns.
02:11What was it about the system that allowed you to be so productive?
02:15Yeah, so for me spending time at Roy for three years,
02:17that's kind of where I learned the trench game of ball,
02:21playing in the wing tee and just the toughness and grittiness of it.
02:24Ended up transferring to Corner Canyon for my senior year.
02:27Coach Karen, what he does, kind of the quarterback lineage that he's had there
02:31was super impressive and something that I wanted to be a part of.
02:35And definitely had some guys around me where we could go out there
02:37and light it up each and every week.
02:38You took off.
02:40I mean, you guys won the state championship.
02:42Yeah.
02:43Did he know you could throw the ball like you can throw it?
02:45I think when you ask him, he would say that he didn't really know how good I was
02:49because, you know, obviously playing in the wing tee,
02:51you're kind of limited to what you can and can't do.
02:53So I think for everybody, it was a little bit of a shock.
02:55I mean, look at these numbers.
02:56You go undefeated, almost 5,000 yards passing,
03:00Gatorade National Player of the Year.
03:02All of a sudden, you can go anywhere you want to go, right?
03:04Yes, sir.
03:04You settle on the USC Trojans, and I can see why there's no bigger tradition than USC.
03:10What was it about USC that lured you there?
03:13Yeah, I think it's, you know, historically, for quarterbacks,
03:17the best school on the West Coast.
03:19You know, and I think as a competitor, you want to go and play on the biggest stage
03:22and, you know, with the best competition.
03:24So, you know, in my mind, you know, that was the biggest offer that I had
03:27and, you know, definitely wanted to ride with it.
03:29Look at you.
03:30Who does your makeup, man?
03:33I do.
03:33What?
03:35Yeah, I do my makeup.
03:36Did you forget to do the other side, or what was the genesis of this thought right here?
03:41You know, it started out in high school.
03:43I was watching an LSU game, and I saw one of their DBs do, you know, both the guys,
03:47and I thought it was pretty cool.
03:49And then, you know, in my mind, I don't know if quarterbacks can really do the same DB swag.
03:54And then I decided to just do it one game in high school, played a good game,
03:58and kind of rode with it ever since.
04:00And there's a coaching change at USC during the season.
04:03What was that like, going through the high of throwing for 400 yards in a Pac-12 game,
04:11winning your first game, really, of meaning, and your coach gets fired,
04:15and now you've got to continue on during the season?
04:19That had to be a big distraction.
04:20Yeah, I think that was a pretty adverse situation for me to be in.
04:24You know, playing in that game so early on, then having that success,
04:27and obviously having to, you know, get a procedure, John, that took me out a few weeks.
04:31You know, with the coaching change, you know, as a 17-year-old kid,
04:35just trying to keep the locker room together and put our teams in the best situation to win each week.
04:40All this adversity is going down, and they bring in Lincoln Riley,
04:44who brings in Caleb William, his own quarterback from Oklahoma.
04:48And how old are you, 18 years old?
04:50Yes, sir.
04:50So I just got to ask you, you enter the transfer portal?
04:54Mm-hmm.
04:55And I got to assume everybody in the country wanted you.
04:58Yes, sir.
04:58How the hell do you hook up with this guy, Lane Kiffin?
05:00And that's Oxford, Mississippi.
05:02Yeah.
05:03That's a long way from Utah, and it's a long way from Southern California.
05:08Why would you go to Oxford?
05:10Yeah, Coach Kiff was one of the first coaches to give me a phone call when I got in the portal.
05:15I think it was like five minutes after I got cleared.
05:17And, you know, I just remember, you know, initially just seeing, like, their jerseys.
05:21So I thought that was sweet, you know, the powder blues.
05:24That's exciting.
05:24So I just saw the excitement of the program.
05:26And, you know, really from, you know, the time that, you know, we got on our first phone
05:31call and, you know, he kind of laid out the plan and the blueprint for me that he had.
05:36And just the coaching staff and the players that he would have around me, I just really
05:39believed in his vision.
05:42I mean, when I think of Mississippi, I think of Archie Manning.
05:45I think of Eli Manning.
05:47Then I started watching Jackson Dirt.
05:49You're one of these guys, man.
05:50I mean, you can rip it.
05:52I want to know who this guy is.
05:53Spencer Sanders.
05:55Because I'm hearing that he's at Oklahoma State.
05:58He's this hot shot guy.
06:00Yeah.
06:00And I know Kiffin well.
06:01He can recruit his ass off.
06:03He gets Jackson Dart.
06:05Then he went out and gets Spencer Sanders.
06:07Yeah.
06:07Didn't that piss you off?
06:08Yeah, absolutely.
06:10I think, you know, just as a quarterback, you know, when you have what you feel like is
06:13your team, your locker room, and, you know, you see something like this happen where
06:19somebody else is trying to come in and, you know, take your job, you know, you definitely
06:22take that in a disrespectful way and definitely puts a chip on your shoulder to, you know,
06:27not let that happen or give anybody a chance to take it.
06:29That made you better, didn't it?
06:31Yeah, absolutely.
06:32What is it about being a student at Ole Miss?
06:35What's special about this place?
06:37I didn't really realize it until I got there, you know, what was so special about Ole Miss.
06:41Because, you know, on the national landscape, it's not really, you know, highly talked about
06:45and whatnot, but I think that what separates Ole Miss from other places is just the people
06:50and the support.
06:51So it was definitely an adjustment period because I felt like it was polar opposites from
06:54L.A. to a small college town, but I fell in love with it and, you know, I definitely
06:58can call it a second home.
07:00We've got to dig into this Kiffin stuff now, this system.
07:03Yeah.
07:03What is his game plan like?
07:06I see him over there looking at it.
07:08I mean, I got game plans.
07:09Yeah.
07:10What the hell has he got there?
07:11How much is in a game plan and give me a little information on the system at Ole Miss?
07:17You know, our game plan each week are very specific to who we're playing.
07:22So it's really like each and every week you're getting a brand new playbook.
07:25That really helped me in my maturity and growth as a quarterback just because I was constantly
07:30learning and evolving and trying to see it from a coaching lens.
07:34You know, I'm just curious how you summarize the pass offense at Ole Miss.
07:40How would you summarize that to young quarterbacks out there that are thinking about going there?
07:45Yeah, I think that they do a great job.
07:47You know, there's definitely, you know, people will bring up the RPO side of things and, you
07:50know, that's definitely involved and whatnot.
07:52But, you know, we also have a lot of things built in where depending on, you know, who we're
07:56playing that week, you know, we have fulfilled progressions, you know, split safety, one high
08:01safety, you know, read sides and at the same time, you know, man zone alerts.
08:07And, you know, there's definitely a lot and I feel like it kind of encompasses everything.
08:11It's an aggressive vertical passing offense.
08:14And look, 15 times you went over 300 yards.
08:17But here's what's interesting.
08:19You got more yards rushing than anybody at the quarterback position at Ole Miss.
08:23You're a dual threat, aren't you?
08:25Yeah, I didn't know that stuff.
08:26Yeah, 1,540 yards rushing and 14 touchdowns.
08:29I watch you guys run the same exact plays that Philadelphia runs with Jalen Hurts.
08:36Yeah.
08:37I mean, this is a design quarterback counter, but you're reading the backside end, aren't
08:41you?
08:41Yes, sir.
08:42I mean, you can give it to Saquon Barkley or you can keep it yourself.
08:45So what kind of quarterback are NFL teams getting?
08:49Do you want to run a Philadelphia style offense or do you want to play for a guy like Gruden
08:54who's just going to have you dropping back a lot?
08:56Geez, I can play neither.
08:57I know you can't, but is there something you fancy the most?
09:01I just think that there's a well-balanced that when you have a quarterback who can do
09:06both that you definitely want to have that aspect of the game in there.
09:09But definitely just a well-balanced offense with really just chasing explosive plays and
09:14having a lot of fun and attacking the defense at every level.
09:18Why the hell are you not the number one guy on all these rankings I get?
09:23I think media kind of has their way of swaying things.
09:25You're a fiery son of a bitch, aren't you?
09:27Yes, sir.
09:28Explain that to me.
09:29I know you're very confident, but I see you really get pissed down here and I see you cut
09:34it up a lot.
09:35Yeah.
09:36I grew up playing football on the defensive side of the ball.
09:39You know, that's what my dad played and I think he kind of just expected.
09:41What are you pissed off about right there?
09:43We got stopped on the fourth down in the red zone on the first drive of the game.
09:47I didn't like that.
09:48Is that your leadership style?
09:50Yeah, I think at times there's a time and a place for it.
09:52What are you doing here against Georgia?
09:54You just getting the crowd all fired up?
09:56Yeah, I think that, you know, this moment was a huge one.
09:59We'll go down Ole Miss history, but just, you know, everything that was kind of involved
10:02for this game and what was at stake, you know, this one meant a lot to us.
10:05You look like Jim McMahon right there.
10:07You're giving guys head butts.
10:09Yeah.
10:09I mean, you are our quarterback.
10:10You know, can you stay composed?
10:12Does this hurt you sometimes with your decision making?
10:15Because you are a reckless, crazy son of a bitch the way you play quarterback.
10:20You're kind of like Evel Knievel.
10:21You know that.
10:22Yeah.
10:22You know, I'm definitely an emotional player.
10:24I feel like maybe early on and when I was younger, you know, at times, you know,
10:29I would get a little too greedy with the ball.
10:31But I feel like I just, you know, did a good job of maturing each year.
10:35And, you know, I think that when you look at my numbers, you know,
10:37I do a good job of, you know, keeping the turnover ratio down as well.
10:40What are you doing here?
10:43I was telling them this is my shit.
10:46This is the first film I saw when I started studying Jackson Dart.
10:50And I almost fell out of my fucking chair.
10:52I'm saying Arkansas going to Ole Miss, they're going to give Jackson Dart problems.
10:56And I have never seen a shred job like this.
10:59And you threw for 800 yards.
11:01I mean, this was unbelievable.
11:04What was it about Arkansas and this game plan that allowed you to do this?
11:08Yeah, really, you know, I feel like Ole Miss and Arkansas is a game that
11:11it really doesn't matter about records, you know, for most of the time.
11:14It's always been a close game each and every year.
11:17And then, you know, my first year I played in Fayetteville and they kind of whooped our ass.
11:21So, you know, I think for all of us, we were really excited to get back there and definitely
11:24felt like we could take advantage of them on the second level and really attack them vertically
11:29down the field.
11:30Just tell me where you improved from 2022 to 2023 all the way to 2024.
11:38I think a big thing for me was probably just like pre-snap indicators, you know, having
11:43a really good idea of where I was going to go with the football and how to attack a defense
11:46and really understanding why plays are called.
11:49And I think that my progression, you know, like you said, I played under Coach Weiss for
11:53three years.
11:54So I think that was a huge advantage of me going into game prep each week.
11:57But I think that obviously having, you know, a better understanding of the offense and then
12:02at the same time, them just giving me, you know, more freedom and kind of the keys to
12:05run it was definitely a huge part of my maturation.
12:08Al Davis was the guy I worked for with the Raiders.
12:10And he used to say, let me see the best he's got.
12:15Let me see the most difficult throws he's made.
12:17Ain't nobody in the country that makes more big time throws than you do.
12:21Tight window throws.
12:22You know what I'm talking about?
12:23Yes, sir.
12:24I mean, these are tight ass window throws.
12:27Maybe just a little summary on when to and when not to stick these in there.
12:32Yeah.
12:33I think for me, it's definitely situational based.
12:35You know, what part of the game are we in?
12:37You know, what's the situation?
12:39But, you know, just me as a player, you know, I'm pretty aggressive.
12:41So, you know, if they're going to play in a disrespectful way and play man coverage and not think
12:47that we're going to take chances down the field, you know, I'm going to take advantage
12:49of that.
12:49What are some of the keys in your game in throwing a really good deep ball?
12:54Yeah, it's definitely, you know, you want to be as friendly as you can to the receiver.
12:58So, making sure you put good air on the ball.
13:00And, you know, in my mind, I'm always trying to give my receiver a chance to make a play.
13:04You know, an overthrow is just an incompletion.
13:07You know, give your guy a chance to make a play on the ball.
13:09So, you know, when I put it up there, I have all the confidence that my guy's going to make
13:12a play and I'm just going to give him a chance to go do it.
13:14And you are one tough son of a bitch, aren't you?
13:16Yes, sir.
13:16When you see these rushers beating down on you here, why don't you abort the play and
13:21take off?
13:22Why do you stand in there and do this?
13:24I just feel like as a quarterback, you know, you got to be the one that sets the tone of
13:27the offense, you know, regardless of how many times you're going to get hit and not get hit.
13:31And, you know, a lot of the best plays are those where, you know, you're close to getting
13:36sacked and you just have a split second to get the ball out of your hand.
13:38So, I mean, honest to God, man, I have seen you stand in there and take some real heat,
13:44man.
13:45And it's a credit to you.
13:47Do your players and does Coach Kiffin compliment you on this as one of your greatest strengths?
13:52Yes, sir.
13:52That's the greatest throw I've ever seen.
13:54Yeah, this one.
13:55I mean, this is unbelievable.
13:56What'd you do?
13:57Piss off Duke in pregame warmup or something?
13:59Yeah, I probably had a few words for him.
14:01Let's talk about your playing style.
14:03Everybody has a playing style.
14:04What do you think your playing style is?
14:06For me, I'm just the ultimate competitor.
14:08So, you know, in my mind, whatever it takes to win, I'm going to go out there and do all
14:11that I can to accomplish that.
14:13And then at the same time, you know, I want to put, you know, everything I can, you know,
14:17on display and for my teammates to know that I'm going to give it all that I got.
14:20Make a note of playing style, will you?
14:21We got to talk about this a little bit.
14:24You know, I love this, Jackson.
14:26You're a rugged sunbat.
14:27You're an old school player.
14:28You're like a wing T quarterback.
14:30Yeah.
14:30You're like your dad playing safety at Utah.
14:33And I love that.
14:34And I think it's, I mean, it's impressive, but I want you to change your playing style.
14:40Yes, sir.
14:40I think it's reckless.
14:42I think it's careless.
14:43And I think it's dangerous.
14:45You're the only guy that can't play with a sore right shoulder.
14:49And we can't play without you.
14:50You've come out of some games now.
14:52Right.
14:52You had your ass knocked off and you sucked it up and went back in the game.
14:55But just talk to me about some of these hits.
14:59Why won't you go out of bounds?
15:00Why won't you go down?
15:02Yeah.
15:03That's crazy, man.
15:05It's fucking crazy.
15:06And you're going to be in that concussion protocol tent.
15:10And I'm going to be holding the game plan going, where the hell is Dart at?
15:13You know what I mean?
15:14Yeah.
15:15I want you to talk to me about this game here against Georgia.
15:18Now, you're taking off.
15:19You got the first down.
15:21What would Gruden tell you to do?
15:23Go out of bounds, coach.
15:24And what are you going to do?
15:25Run his ass over.
15:26With your right shoulder?
15:27Yeah.
15:28That's not smart.
15:29No, it's not smart.
15:31What about this right here?
15:32Can we get where?
15:34Out of bounds.
15:35You know, this is insane.
15:37Yeah.
15:37Write it down.
15:37Evil Knievel.
15:38That's who you are.
15:39You're going to jump over a freaking canyon out there in Utah.
15:42Is that what you're going to do in your offseason?
15:44Yeah.
15:44Can you spell Knievel?
15:44This is insane.
15:45How do you spell Knievel?
15:46Shit.
15:47K-N-E-V-I-E-L.
15:51Knievel.
15:52Evil Knievel.
15:53I mean, you did it at USC.
15:55You haven't changed.
15:55Why haven't you changed?
15:58Yeah, it's definitely something that I, when I watch back and in those moments, you know,
16:02I definitely are like, all right, like, that's not smart.
16:05It's not a smart hit to take.
16:06So, that's definitely something I'm going to, you know, get better at.
16:09But, you know, in my mind, you know, I'm always trying to be plus two.
16:14Plus what?
16:15Plus two.
16:15What's that?
16:16Anytime you, you know, get hit with contact, I want to fall two yards forward.
16:20Yeah, well, that's all great, but not anymore.
16:23Yes, sir.
16:23Make a note about quickness.
16:25There's three kinds of quickness that I want you to keep working on every single day.
16:29The mind.
16:30We got to get mentally quicker.
16:32We got to learn something today.
16:33We got to learn something tomorrow.
16:35We got to have somebody give me more information the next day.
16:38Let me ask you this.
16:39What is some of the information that you feel like you need to get better at to become the
16:44best quarterback?
16:45Yeah, I think that, you know, a big one would be footwork.
16:49You know, making sure that, you know, my drops time up and each hitch is, you know, progressively
16:54moving through a progression.
16:55And at the same time, you know, you know, I love, you know, every little detail that
17:00comes with it.
17:00So, you know, I'm always trying to learn and take in as much as I can.
17:05We got to get the arm quicker.
17:06It's very quick, man.
17:07You got one of the quicker snap releases in college football and that I've seen.
17:11And then we got to get the body quicker.
17:14And I mean, twitchier.
17:15It's twitchy right now, but it's not twitchy enough.
17:18So every day when you go to work, how did I get quicker?
17:20Did I do some plyometrics?
17:22Did I jump some rope?
17:23Did I learn something in the meeting room?
17:25Did I get my arm quicker?
17:26Because it doesn't just happen, right?
17:28Yes, sir.
17:29These three-level throws, I call them, deep crosses.
17:33Get up there on the board, will you?
17:34Let's do it.
17:35I want you to put in a deep cross because I see you running it with different types of
17:39protection.
17:40Here's one to the tight end against Florida.
17:42Yeah.
17:43You have that clear out route.
17:45Then you have the deep cross.
17:46And then you always have somebody on a shallow cross.
17:50Yeah.
17:50But maybe draw this one right here.
17:52You guys ran against Georgia last year.
17:54And tell me how you read it.
17:56And what are the key coaching points in this pattern?
17:59Yes, sir.
18:00What's the name of the concept at Ole Miss?
18:02This one right here was called super water.
18:04Super water.
18:05Yeah.
18:06What's water mean?
18:07It's like a Mardi Gras-Reed top down.
18:09Mm-hmm.
18:10So we're going to crew rights the formation.
18:12You can see up there this little bunch tight to the tackle.
18:16We're going to go lube is the protection, seven-man protection.
18:20We're Mike in the middle of the three and a four down.
18:22The back's got one past the point.
18:24Tight end's got one behind it.
18:26And then super water is the concept here.
18:29Super water.
18:31Super water.
18:31A Mardi Gras drink, you say?
18:33Yes, sir.
18:34So we're going to do a little action.
18:36How deep is that deep cross?
18:38It ranges, you know, based off of man's zone.
18:40And, you know, against man, it's probably going to be a little shorter just because he has to stir step and come flat.
18:45But, you know, he's taught to, in any zone coverage, to chase the heels of the post.
18:49That way we can, you know, come right off of that corner's heels and have a good window to lead him and not really be worried about this flat defender because, you know, if the safety takes it away, that's what we're playing off of.
18:59And what's your progression?
19:00How do you read it?
19:01Reading it top down.
19:02So we're going one, two, to three.
19:05It's a three-level throw, right?
19:06Yes, sir.
19:07And most quarterbacks set up to throw the deep cross or the check down.
19:11Yeah.
19:12But in Jackson Dart's world, you're really looking to throw that post, aren't you?
19:17Yes, sir.
19:17And when do you throw it?
19:19Anytime that safety's, you know, not getting depth or, you know, holding his feet like this.
19:23I'm going to put it over his head.
19:25Show me this one.
19:26This is, I call this pepper with the deep cross.
19:28You have a double post with the deep cross.
19:31Do you remember this?
19:31Yes, sir.
19:32Show me that.
19:32Erase that.
19:33Yes, sir.
19:34You got to go quick here, man.
19:35We're at the freaking FFCA.
19:38You know, the NCAA and the NFL, they don't want us to have meetings that are very long.
19:42Yeah.
19:42What do you call the double post deep cross concept?
19:45We call that a pump.
19:46So the route's a pump, but we call the concept wave.
19:49Dual.
19:50Tell him the tight end that he's attached right there in a two-by-two formation.
19:54Corey is going to be the protection with the guard pole you see there.
19:58I'm going to call it wave pump.
20:00Dual left nasty, Corey wave pump.
20:03Yep.
20:04Your penmanship, you know, for a 3.7 GPA, you must use a computer a lot.
20:09You know, I...
20:10Ah, I've seen better.
20:12That's kind of hard when I'm reaching.
20:13Yeah.
20:13You know what I'm saying?
20:14Do you take criticism or do you get sensitive?
20:17No, I can take it.
20:19Yeah, no one ever busted my balls when I was coaching.
20:22So that's called what?
20:23Right here?
20:23The concept?
20:24Wave.
20:25Wave.
20:25Pump right here.
20:26What's that mean?
20:27We're going to double move it.
20:28Okay.
20:29That's sweet right there.
20:31You like that?
20:31Somebody's in a flat?
20:33Yeah.
20:33How'd you read this one right here?
20:34So, alerting this against man-to-man coverage.
20:37You know, he can stair-step and come flat.
20:40But that's really only against man.
20:42We called it a clear out against zone.
20:45I'm just reading it.
20:46Same thing.
20:46One, two, to three.
20:48Have a seat.
20:49Is this in your wheelhouse?
20:50When Kiffin calls these, do you light up?
20:53Oh, yeah.
20:53Do you love these plays?
20:54Yeah, I get juiced.
20:55You guys have some weird plays, don't you?
20:58This play against Texas A&M, what the hell did you do to them?
21:02Nobody covered the guy.
21:03This is awesome, isn't it?
21:05Yeah.
21:06So we installed this.
21:06We called it Sleeper.
21:08Show me what you did here.
21:10This is, I mean, this is Texas A&M, man.
21:12This is big-time football.
21:13They don't cover the freaky guy.
21:16I want this play.
21:17So we kind of drew it up as like a two-play.
21:20You know, you want to get two calls in and then go as fast as you can.
21:23So we had a good explosive play.
21:26You know, we called slot right.
21:28And, you know, we told Jay Watt, who's like our savvy, you know,
21:32he's our savvy smart receiver, to kind of play it off once we got the explosive play.
21:36Like, okay, we want you to run and go talk to Coach Kiffin.
21:42So Coach Kiffin has his playbook in front of his face,
21:45and Jay Watt looks like he's subbing out of the game, you know,
21:48and he's talking to Coach Kiffin.
21:50And then when the ball snapped, he's going to give him a little signal to go.
21:54And they thought he was subbing out.
21:56So there's nobody there.
21:59That is freaking cold-blooded, man.
22:00Yeah.
22:01Is that shit legal?
22:02I don't know.
22:03Yeah.
22:03I mean, it worked.
22:04Called it sleeper.
22:06Jay Watt's sleeping.
22:08The sideline communications.
22:09What's a typical dialogue with Kiffin over there?
22:12What are you guys doing most of the time I see this?
22:15Yeah, we're just talking through different situations.
22:18You know, what to kind of anticipate the next time I'm out on the field.
22:21And then, you know, he's also just giving me indicators.
22:23Like, hey, like, if we have this play and you see this look,
22:27like, let's give an easy, easy call and let's get out of it.
22:29So there's definitely, like, every time I'm coming to the sideline,
22:32you know, we're making adjustments to try to be prepared the next time I'm out.
22:34Are you giving him input of what you want?
22:36Oh, 100%.
22:36Good.
22:37That's just what I want to hear.
22:38Stand up.
22:39Let me see your snap count.
22:40Let me be honest with me.
22:41Because I see at USC, I see this guy.
22:45Yeah.
22:45Go ahead.
22:46You ready?
22:47Yeah.
22:50No, I want to hear the snap count.
22:52Yeah.
22:53Really?
22:54Every time?
22:56Every time.
22:57Do you have, like, a dummy clap or anything?
22:59Yeah, we call it purple.
23:02What's that?
23:04No shit.
23:05Yeah.
23:05For three years, you've been clapping.
23:08I think I could do that.
23:10Let me hear it.
23:11No, I ain't doing it.
23:12I got an issue with Megan.
23:14I don't like all the false starts, man.
23:15Yeah.
23:16And, you know, I'm just telling you, I'll lose my goddamn mind if we have too many of these.
23:22Right?
23:22Mm-hmm.
23:23What's the common problem when you have a false start?
23:28Because you guys have a lot of them.
23:29You know, when you're in your short yardage play and, you know, there's a lot of noise being involved.
23:34And I think that's definitely a deficiency when you go on the clap because, you know, the O-line's just waiting.
23:40You know, they don't really have an indicator.
23:41And then when defenses are stemming and, you know, there's movement and, you know, calls that the defense is giving, it's definitely, it makes it hard for the big boys up front.
23:51I want to clean up our pre-snap procedure.
23:53That's the only reason I'm making a big deal of this.
23:56Every false start is a reflection of who?
23:58Quarterback.
23:59And the coach.
24:00Yes, sir.
24:00And, you know, Kiff will probably call me up and be pissed at me, but we have to eliminate, we're not going to get away with this shit in the NFL.
24:07You know what I mean?
24:08We don't want first and 15.
24:10I don't want second and one to turn into second and six.
24:12So today, we're taking ourselves into a new snap count.
24:17You with me?
24:18Yes, sir.
24:18And we're going to go on a quick count.
24:20We're going to go on one.
24:21We're going to have a hard two.
24:23And it's going to, it's not going to entail any clapping.
24:26We're going to ask you to do a lot of communicating at the line of scrimmage.
24:30You need to know what Silva Silva is.
24:33So anytime you change the play, easy, easy.
24:36Let's go 98 wasp, 98 wasp.
24:41We get back into Silva Silva set hut.
24:44You got me?
24:44Yeah.
24:44So know what Silva Silva is.
24:46I want you to learn a dummy count today.
24:49So you're using words.
24:50You're trying to read the defense, see their signals, hear their calls.
24:53We're using a dummy count.
24:55We're going to have to have some dummy words.
24:57The dummy words I want you to use are all geniuses.
25:00You can have your own.
25:01But we used Einstein, Ben Franklin, Bill Walsh, Bill Gates.
25:06Here's our snap count.
25:08You put your hands underneath the center.
25:10Set hut.
25:11Nice and easy.
25:12Set hut.
25:13Then it's color number, color number, followed by set hut.
25:17Set hut.
25:18Blue 85.
25:20Blue 85.
25:22Set hut.
25:23You feel me?
25:24I feel it.
25:24But stand up.
25:25Let me see you put your hands under the center.
25:27Let me feel you with this new snap count.
25:30What color?
25:30Any color?
25:31Pick a color number.
25:32Aaron Rodgers.
25:33Green 18.
25:35Green 18.
25:36He said the same shit for 80 years.
25:38Yeah.
25:38Let me hear what you got.
25:39All right.
25:39Ready?
25:40Set hut.
25:41Why 20?
25:43Why 20 set hut?
25:44Perfect.
25:44Perfect.
25:45If we want to go on a quick count, tap the center.
25:49Set hut.
25:50Set hut is one word, two syllables.
25:53Set hut.
25:54Let me hear a quick count.
25:55Set hut.
25:56Perfect.
25:57If we want to go on a hard two, we make a big deal of it.
26:00Hey, hard two.
26:01Hard two.
26:02We're going to get these sumbitches right here.
26:04As we leave the huddle, we might say Tuesday, Tuesday, just to remind everybody.
26:09Set hut.
26:10It sounds exactly like you sound on one.
26:13Set hut.
26:14Blue 85.
26:15Blue 85.
26:17Set hut.
26:17Hut.
26:18You got me?
26:19A little voice inflection.
26:20Let me feel it.
26:21Okay.
26:21Tuesday, Tuesday.
26:23Set hut.
26:24Why 20?
26:25Why 20?
26:25I love you.
26:27Sit down.
26:27Perfect.
26:28Now, in the huddle today, we're going to have shifts in formations, motions.
26:33You got to give them the play, the snap count.
26:35I want to substitute fast, and I want to break the huddle fast.
26:41You're a tempo king, right?
26:43Let's get them in the huddle, out of the huddle, right?
26:47Hey, huddle up.
26:48Let's get this thing going.
26:49Hurry up.
26:50Hurry up.
26:51I'm always going to be on your ass about that.
26:52You're always going to be on their ass.
26:54Yeah.
26:54We're going to be on our guy's ass to pick up the what?
26:58Tempo, right?
26:59Yes, sir.
27:00So, from the huddle today, I want to put in a couple quick game concepts.
27:04Let's do it.
27:05Because you never throw a quick pass at fucking Mississippi, do you?
27:09We don't.
27:09We didn't do it a lot, though.
27:11Okay.
27:11The first concept, all you need to know is 200 jet is the protection.
27:15The back goes right.
27:16All three-digit numbers are three-step throws.
27:20So, 200 jet tells you it's a three-step drop.
27:23And this is a slide protection.
27:24You with me?
27:24Yep.
27:25Omaha is the route, and Y spacing is the tag for the backside.
27:31This is dock right close.
27:34If I say dock right close, 200 jet Omaha, that's a quick out and a stick.
27:41You with me?
27:41Yep.
27:42And I'm going to tag it with Y spacing.
27:44And I want you to throw this concept first, and if you don't like it, reset with depth
27:49and read it all the way out.
27:51You feel me?
27:51I feel you.
27:52All right.
27:52Now, one other route we're going to get right here is just sticky.
27:55Okay.
27:56Snug right.
27:57The Z and the X are in tight.
27:59The Y and the F are obviously off the ball.
28:02This is snug right, 200 jet sticky.
28:05You love it?
28:06I love it.
28:07So, we got two quick throws.
28:08We got Omaha spacing, and we got sticky.
28:12Now, I want to drop back to pass with one route.
28:14I want to call this 76 protection.
28:1876.
28:1976.
28:19The back always goes opposite.
28:23So, if it's trips right 76, the back lines up or goes to the left.
28:27You got me?
28:28Yeah.
28:29The route is wide drive, halfback burst.
28:33And I want a seven-step drop if you're under the center, which you will be today.
28:37You with me?
28:37Yeah.
28:38The tight end is running a shallow cross.
28:40He can sit down no sooner than the backside tackle versus zone against Manny staying on the move.
28:46You with me?
28:46I'm with you.
28:47Our F receiver is running a 12- to 14-yard basic.
28:51That's number two.
28:52And our back is going to come through here and burst.
28:55That's number three.
28:56And if you feel that free safety get nose trouble, we'll have heat over the top on a post.
29:02You like it?
29:03I love it.
29:03The other thing I want to do is I want to use the word Freddy.
29:07That means we're going fast.
29:09The signal for that is both fists together.
29:12Hey, Freddy, Freddy.
29:13That means we're jumping the ball.
29:14You got me?
29:15Yeah.
29:16The play you get is LaMonica.
29:18Wow.
29:19All you say is bunch right, bunch right.
29:22Give them the formation and you yell out LaMonica.
29:25LaMonica is an RPO.
29:27So you're running the wide zone with this built-in block-block bubble.
29:33You got the freedom to give it or throw the quick screen.
29:35You got me?
29:36Yeah.
29:37The other one you're going to get is 99 slip.
29:40We're going to call strong left.
29:44It's a two-back set.
29:45Strong left, 99 slip.
29:47So it's a wide zone fake.
29:50And I really want to do a great job giving this back great extension.
29:55I want the line to really come off and sell 98.
29:59You're going to come out of this fake with some depth.
30:01And that wide tight end is running a bullet shallow cross.
30:05You with me?
30:06Yeah.
30:06Our Z in this close split is running a 10-12 yard over route.
30:10And you're coming out here running or throwing.
30:14You with me?
30:14I'm with you.
30:15Nobody ever gets sacked on a boot.
30:16All right.
30:17Last one here is we could go snug right, shorty, and use a dummy count.
30:22Now, I want to run this play, man.
30:25I want to run power trap rage.
30:28We just call it PTR.
30:30It's pass 96 punch, and it's x-deep cross.
30:34It's your favorite play.
30:35You with me?
30:36I'm ready.
30:36Freddy, Freddy, snug right, shorty, Bill Gates.
30:40That lets everybody know we're using a dummy count.
30:43You got me?
30:43Yeah.
30:44Whenever we run PTR, this power trap rage, I want a premier look.
30:50What look does Gruden want?
30:52No blitz.
30:53No pressure look.
30:53I'm fucking right, I don't.
30:54And I'm going to use a dummy count with some pre-snap motion to make sure it's a good look for you.
30:59Yeah.
30:59Because I don't want you getting your ass knocked off.
31:02Yeah.
31:02I mean, you do.
31:03You like getting your fucking jersey dirty.
31:05I want your shirt clean.
31:07I want you walking into the stadium, doing the press conference, feeling good, looking good.
31:12Yes, sir.
31:12I don't want you to have freaking blood all over your face.
31:16You know what I'm saying?
31:17Yeah.
31:17So here's what I'm going to give you.
31:19Snug right, shorty, give me PTR, and I'm going to say alert for the rock rage.
31:26The rock.
31:27The rocky rage.
31:28If you ever say rock, rock, rock, that tight end blocks.
31:31You got me?
31:32Gotcha.
31:32And now we're going to run the X on that corner post.
31:37We call it a rage route.
31:38You with me?
31:39Mm-hmm.
31:39And you love throwing those, and we got your typical deep cross, which you love.
31:43We got a slam flat by the nudge F.
31:47You got me?
31:47Rock and rage.
31:48Against the blitz, we'd rather run this than our PTR.
31:53You with me?
31:53I'm with you.
31:54Does it make sense to you?
31:55Yes, sir.
31:55Knock on wood if you're with me.
31:57You like this shit?
31:58I love it.
31:59All right.
31:59What's RCE mean to you?
32:02Recognition, communication, execution.
32:05I want you to start checking into this world, man.
32:08I want you to recognize the defense, the coverage, the blitz, the matchups.
32:14I want you to be on a mission every play, yes?
32:16Yes, sir.
32:17And once you recognize the defense, we communicate some key information, and that's going to lead
32:23us to really good execution.
32:24Let's go back here and talk a little bit about your career, yes?
32:28Yes, sir.
32:29This is 2022, your first year as a starter.
32:32Are you guys 7-0?
32:33Yeah, it started out hot.
32:34What happened, man?
32:34We lose our last four games.
32:36What was the reason for that?
32:38Offensively, we weren't producing the same.
32:42I feel like we kind of got a little cocky going 7-0.
32:47With us that year, we had a lot of brand new guys on that team, and I think for a lot
32:52of us, we didn't really understand the competition of the SEC, and it definitely showed those last
32:58four that you could lose to anybody if you're not prepared.
33:01I want to know what your role was in coming back for this 2023 season, because to me, it
33:06was a hell of a year.
33:08Yeah, I think that you definitely have a sour taste in your mouth with how things ended.
33:12As a leader on the team, I can't stand losing, so that's something that drove me each and
33:21every day, making sure that I had the guys around me that had the exact same mentality
33:25about how we approached the offseason, making sure that we set the right culture for the
33:29team.
33:29And then they also brought in a lot of guys to compete.
33:33We had a really good transfer portal class that next year, and even for me, they brought
33:36in Spencer.
33:37So you definitely had a chip on your shoulder with how it ended, but you're competing every
33:41single day to make sure that shit doesn't happen again.
33:43So we lose four of those last games, and this 11-win season, that's the first time Ole
33:48Miss has ever won 11 games.
33:50You guys beat Penn State, a very good defensive team.
33:53But I want to go back to this game.
33:55Like, this is one of my favorite games, I remember.
33:58Yeah.
33:58LSU led by Jaden freaking Daniels.
34:02Dart versus Daniels.
34:04Just go back to this day here.
34:06Tell me about Daniels, what you were looking at, what you think of him, and what the game
34:10plan was.
34:11Yeah, so me and Jaden, we actually trained together since I was in high school.
34:15So we've always had a really good relationship.
34:18And even when I was at USC, he was at Arizona State.
34:21So everywhere we've been, we've been competing and playing against each other.
34:24And we knew it was going to be a shootout.
34:26Let's talk about the 2024 season and put it to bed here.
34:29Let's go to Kentucky.
34:31Because here we are, we're 4-0.
34:33And you really, we're just rolling people.
34:35I mean, the scores were like 70 to nothing, 60 to 10.
34:39Look at this guy.
34:40Do you know this Dart?
34:42Yeah, that's me.
34:43What are you listening to?
34:45He's probably like Lil Yachty, V's, Ian, Kodak.
34:51You're going to have to help me with my glasses, man.
34:57You like this?
34:58That's tough.
34:59Huh?
34:59Yeah, that's tough.
35:00I'm going to wear these on the field just for you.
35:02But I love watching you come into the stadium.
35:04You have a presence about you, a style, don't you?
35:07Yes, sir.
35:08What is that style?
35:10It's just what I want to make it.
35:12I like to be a little unique and kind of do my own thing.
35:15Was there anything Kentucky did in this game that was unique or different than you had seen?
35:22I mean, there wasn't anything new that they did that we weren't really prepared for.
35:27I just felt like, you know, they definitely played a really good game.
35:30And you got to give them a ton of credit.
35:31You know, defensively, they did some really good things.
35:33It's the last play, third and nine.
35:35We run the ball.
35:36Yep.
35:37And we missed the field goal, right?
35:40Yeah.
35:40To tie the game.
35:41I just want to know, as a leader of this team, what was that like after this game and in the coming days?
35:51Yeah, it was heartbreaking.
35:52Because they're all looking to you now, right?
35:54Yeah, I think that, you know, how I feel after losses is they don't even feel real.
35:59It's almost just like a nightmare that you want to get out of, you know?
36:02So I think for me, you know, early on in the year, as a leader, you got to rally the troops back.
36:06So, you know, making sure that we have our player meetings the next day and get everybody's mindset shifted to, you know, attacking the next week and not letting that happen again.
36:14Let's make a note about some protection terms.
36:16Because if there's one thing I want to sell to you, it's safety.
36:20I want to see you take less hits.
36:23I want to see you more involved at the line of scrimmage with pass protections than ever.
36:28I want you to write down Lou Ron.
36:30I want you to write down Fanit.
36:32Bang R and Bang L.
36:34Lou and Ron go together.
36:35Whether the center goes left or right.
36:37Fan is a term we'll get to for the guard and a tackle.
36:41And Bang R or Bang L is a three-man slide.
36:45Every time you get up there today, when that center is uncovered, we got to send them left or right.
36:51You with me?
36:52Yeah.
36:52These bubble blitzing teams, they really piss me off.
36:56Yeah.
36:56So anytime a man comes out here and we create what I call a two-look, you with me?
37:02We could make a fan call.
37:04That means the guard and the tackle are going to come out and fan for these two guys.
37:08Yeah.
37:08That allows the back to scan up inside.
37:11You with me?
37:12Yeah.
37:12So we got a fan.
37:14We got a Lou and a Ron.
37:16And now when that center is uncovered, it's not a Ron call.
37:20It's a Bang R.
37:22That tells the tackle, the guard, and the center.
37:25Let's all slide to that three-man surface.
37:27Gotcha.
37:27So the calls today are, Ron, Ron, Ron.
37:31Lou, Lou, Lou.
37:32Hey, fan that.
37:33Bang.
37:34Bang R.
37:35Bang L.
37:36You got me?
37:36Yeah.
37:37So here we are.
37:38We're playing LSU.
37:39And let's just not worry about losing the game and all that bullshit.
37:44The hay is in the barn.
37:45Let's get better.
37:47Okay?
37:47Mm-hmm.
37:48You see that over there on the left side?
37:50Yeah.
37:50What could we have said to that left guard and left tackle, to that bubble?
37:54Fan, fan.
37:55You could have said fan, fan, fan.
37:57And now the back doesn't have to do what there?
37:59Go out to it.
38:01He doesn't have to block them.
38:02Yeah.
38:02Does that make sense?
38:03Yeah, you can get out.
38:04If we get guys open, you're going to hit them.
38:06But if you're getting hit, we ain't going to hit them.
38:09Right.
38:09I want you to get obsessed with recognizing every front, every blitz,
38:16and what are the calls, coach, and go have a walkthrough,
38:19and let's stay out here until midnight until everybody knows who to block.
38:23So you guys really lose two gut-wrenching games,
38:28and now you've got to get ready for the Georgia Bulldogs, right?
38:31Yeah.
38:32And they're the number one team in the country?
38:34Yes, sir.
38:35What happened on the second play of the game, Jackson?
38:38I had a high ankle sprain.
38:40They felt like I needed to go get an x-ray, so they took me back in,
38:43and my x-rays were negative, so I just told them to shoot it up.
38:46And you came back with that shot-up ankle, and you, what, were you fucking numb?
38:52So you just started blowing guys up?
38:54Yes, sir.
38:54Huh?
38:55Now, you've got to draw this red zone route up.
38:57Yeah.
38:58They should not ever allow a touchdown pass on this.
39:02Yeah.
39:02Do you remember this?
39:03Yeah, this is sweet.
39:05This was like one of my favorite throws in college.
39:07So we were in red to right, was the formation, and then we called it one signal.
39:13Seminal was the concept to the field.
39:16Seminal?
39:17Seminal.
39:17That's the trips combination?
39:19Yes, sir.
39:19So for our signal, you run a fade, you can run a slant off of it,
39:24or you can run a back inline.
39:26So he's got a hand signal based on the coverage, right?
39:29Yes, sir.
39:29And if it's one-on-one, you go there.
39:32If not, you work the seminal combination?
39:35Yeah.
39:35So I'm peaking pre-snap.
39:36Do I like my matchup?
39:37Yes, no.
39:38Give him a signal of what I want him to run.
39:40Obviously, I saw like a bracket look here, so I did not like my single receiver.
39:44So I knew I was working my concept to the field.
39:47Peaked my nod route by my tight end and then worked out to my seminal.
39:51Did you see the free safety hunting him up or not?
39:54Yeah, I did.
39:55I just felt like he was hugging the front of the goal line,
39:58and I knew my angle of my guy, and I knew he was going to turn his back,
40:01so I just tried to replace the ball where his head was at.
40:04And just made a great play.
40:05Shit.
40:07Have a seat.
40:07That's a great play.
40:09Was that a great night in Oxford?
40:11That was an amazing night in Oxford.
40:12I was watching this, and I said, man, I wish I was Jackson Darden running across campus.
40:17What was that like?
40:18Yeah, that was – geez, that's going to be a moment that I definitely cherish forever.
40:24What did you do?
40:24Come on, man.
40:26They took the goalposts out to the square.
40:28I think our whole team, we knew exactly where we were going to be at,
40:30so we all headed to the square and went to the library.
40:33What's the library?
40:34To study.
40:36It's the bar.
40:37Library's the bar.
40:38Is that right?
40:38Yeah.
40:39Might be one of the great wins, and it probably is the greatest win in Ole Miss history,
40:42isn't it?
40:43Yes, sir.
40:43Yeah.
40:44I think we've got to get into this.
40:45We'll finish with this game real quick.
40:47This Florida game might have been the best game that you played all year.
40:51Yeah.
40:52For 57 and a half minutes.
40:54Yeah.
40:54And then we had some breakdowns at the end, but go back to this game right here.
41:00You're feeling it, aren't you?
41:01Yeah.
41:02You know, I started off the game really hot.
41:04Felt like I was seeing the field really well.
41:06Like you said, I felt like up until a point I was playing some of my best ball,
41:10and, you know, we were just making things happen across the field.
41:13And here we are at the minute 47 left.
41:17Just curious on a couple of these plays.
41:19Like, this is your play.
41:21Yeah.
41:21Your double post with the deep cross.
41:24What happened on this?
41:25Were you just too aggressive?
41:27Yeah.
41:27I think that this was just an uncharacteristic, you know, mistake by me kind of predetermining.
41:32You know, I thought I was seeing, you know, quarters look there, kind of like what I hit
41:36Trey earlier in the game on the post route and liked the look pre-snap and, you know,
41:42just did a ill-advised decision there.
41:45Then on the last couple closing plays, you and your White House just not on the same page?
41:49Yes, sir.
41:50What happened on this?
41:52Yeah, so I'm seeing a cover to look to the field.
41:54You think he's going to convert it?
41:56Yes, sir.
41:57What did you learn about this last couple plays in this Florida game?
42:02Did you take anything away?
42:03Definitely for me, probably just, you know, not forcing, you know, things when they're not there.
42:09You know, probably just letting, you know, emotions get to me at some point.
42:12And then, you know, on a few of those situations, just checking the ball down or even just, you know,
42:17vertically scrambling when they open up, you know, the middle with their rush.
42:21You know, I felt like watching back, I could have taken advantage of them.
42:23I just think you need to write it down, aggressiveness, aggressiveness, aggressiveness, and circle it.
42:28Yeah.
42:28There's a time and a place for it.
42:30Your whole playing style is aggressive.
42:33Your personality is aggressive.
42:34You're a fiery, competitive freaking guy, man.
42:38But I think in some moments, you got to take a deep breath.
42:41Remember Joe Montana.
42:43You know what I mean?
42:44Yeah.
42:44Put the ball in play.
42:46Get another completion.
42:47And when it's time to be aggressive, you know when to be aggressive.
42:50Yes, sir.
42:50Right?
42:51I want to put in a package of plays for you.
42:53You ready?
42:53Yeah, I'm ready.
42:54I want to call four plays at once.
42:56Mm.
42:57Okay?
42:57Yeah.
42:57So the formation is going to be Trey Wright Zulu.
43:01So what I want to do is I want to use our Freddy, and I want to create a menu of plays for
43:10you, and you take me to the promised land.
43:12You got me?
43:13I love it.
43:13So the formation, Freddy, Freddy, we're going to go Trey Wright.
43:20The two tight ends and the Z are going to go to the right.
43:23We call it Trey Wright.
43:24You with me?
43:25I'm with you.
43:25Zulu tells our Z to go in motion and stop.
43:30You with me?
43:31Yeah.
43:32So you're just acting like we're going.
43:34So I'd like you to use some dummy words.
43:36Hey, Freddy, Trey Wright Zulu, Albert Einstein.
43:41And after that motion lands, I want you to recognize the coverage and take me to the appropriate
43:47play.
43:48You got me?
43:48Yeah.
43:49So if we see a split safety look, I want to run the ball.
43:53You got Josh Jacobs with us.
43:56So I want to run Wanda.
43:57That's our weak side outside zone play.
44:00You with me?
44:01Yeah.
44:02And if you want to run the ball to the left, use a West Coast City.
44:06Let's use LA.
44:07You with me?
44:08Yeah.
44:08All right.
44:08If you want to run to the right, let's go Wanda Wanda, New York.
44:12So against split safety looks, let's jam it up their ass.
44:16You love it?
44:18You love it?
44:19Yeah, I love it.
44:19Let me just stick it down their fucking throat.
44:22Sorry for cussing.
44:23Now, because we have Jackson Dart, I might want to run a zone read.
44:28So we're going to use the word elk.
44:30Elk.
44:31It's the zone read, the tight zone, and you're coming back to the nub side.
44:35You with me?
44:36Yeah.
44:36This is elk, elk, LA.
44:39Because we're faking it to the left.
44:41You got me?
44:41Yes, sir.
44:42Okay.
44:43Yes, sir.
44:43You like it?
44:43I love it.
44:44Now, what if the corners come over and it's man-to-man?
44:50That corner chases the Z, the Zulu, and you know it's man-to-man.
44:54I want to get the 82 cowboy.
44:5682 cowboy.
44:57Yep.
44:5882 free release to the right.
44:5983 he free releases to the left.
45:02You feel it?
45:03I feel it.
45:04And I want to peak that halfback rail.
45:06Peak it in case we pick that linebacker off.
45:09You got me?
45:09Yeah.
45:10If you don't get the rub and you don't like the halfback, the Y is setting the depth for
45:15the Z and you got a nice little mesh.
45:18You feel it?
45:18I feel it.
45:19Do we want to run 83 cowboy against cover two?
45:22No, sir.
45:22Hell no.
45:23Now, cowboy, who was a great tight end for the Cowboys for years and years?
45:27Jason Witten.
45:27So we had another play, we called it 82 Witten, where now it's exactly like 82 or 83 cowboy.
45:35It's exactly the same.
45:37But instead of the Y setting the depth, he runs a snag.
45:41And so does the Z.
45:42You see it?
45:43Yeah.
45:43So we run 83 cowboy, 83 cowboy, 83 cowboy.
45:47You come over there and go, hey, Groot, let's get an 83 Witten in the second half.
45:51Yeah.
45:51You see what I'm saying?
45:52I hear you.
45:53It's fun learning a new offense, isn't it?
45:54Yes, sir.
45:55I love it.
45:55Now, if it's cover three, let's say one corner's over there, one corner's over there, there's
46:00a post safety, I want to go to fire two dancer.
46:04And all it is is a quick fake to the back, and it's all go with a check option by the back.
46:10Is this too much for you?
46:12No, sir.
46:12You like it or love it?
46:13I love it.
46:14Seriously, do you hate it?
46:15No, I love it.
46:16These freaking Mississippi State Bulldogs, they don't go easy, do they?
46:21No, sir, they don't.
46:22What would I love to see you do right here once?
46:24Let's step out of bounds.
46:27Honest to God, man.
46:29Are you learning anything today from Gruden on one thing?
46:32What would it be?
46:33Protect myself.
46:34Jesus Christ.
46:35And then this all-out blitz, I got to hear this, man.
46:38We knew they were bringing the house here.
46:40They did a check when we check, is what we call it.
46:43Anytime we're checking from the sideline or getting a new call in, I'm audible, and they're
46:46going to check as well.
46:47For me, I had two free-access routes here that I would take against Cover Zero.
46:52Man, I could take the slot fade to the bottom, or I could take my tight end up the middle
46:57on the pipe look here.
46:58And I just liked my matchup with size on a little DB, and Caden made a great play.
47:04Let's kind of reflect on your career here, will you?
47:07I mean, you got to feel great about what you did at Mississippi, man.
47:11Yeah.
47:12Maybe just reflect for your fans out there what that was like three years in Ole Miss.
47:18Yeah, it was definitely emotional.
47:19I felt like I grew the most as a person and individually through my time there.
47:25And just the relationships that I made, from being a West Coast kid and then coming over
47:30across the country and making it the second home for me, and how special it was just my
47:36three years there.
47:37I think that all the emotions just came out in that moment, because I knew it was the
47:40last time I was going to play on that field.
47:42You did a great job today, man.
47:44I appreciate that.
47:45Did you have any fun?
47:46I had a lot of fun.
47:47Yeah?
47:47Yes, sir.
47:47I just wanted three things.
47:49Number one, I want you to take better care of yourself on the football field.
47:54Yes, sir.
47:55And I'm talking about your playing style.
47:57I don't care how fired up you are.
47:59You got to control your emotions better.
48:01You got to get down.
48:02You got to get out of bounds.
48:03You got to play for nine years.
48:05You got to play for 12 years.
48:06Yes, sir.
48:06You got to play for 17 regular season games.
48:09Right.
48:09So get your shit together and fix that.
48:12That's number one.
48:13Yes, sir.
48:13Secondly, I want you to become obsessed with pass protection.
48:18It's not the most glamorous, fun thing to study, but it's the keys that are going to unlock you, man.
48:24Right.
48:24I mean, how to use them, when to use them, when to get out of them.
48:28That's what Brady had.
48:29That's what Breeze had.
48:31That's what Peyton had.
48:32Eli.
48:33That's what you got to have.
48:34The third thing is, let's get a completion.
48:38You don't go broke making a profit.
48:41Nothing wrong with these aggressive game plans.
48:44You think about the end of that Florida game.
48:46I mean, you're going for the throat, man, all the time.
48:49You know, I just think there's some coverages that are begging you to do that.
48:53Yes, sir.
48:54Did you have any fun today?
48:55Yes, sir.
48:56Yeah, you want to throw a few?
48:57I do.
48:57I do.
48:57I do.
48:57I do.
48:58I do.
48:58I do.
48:59I do.
49:00I do.
49:01I do.
49:02I do.
49:03I do.
49:04I do.
49:04Jackson Dart, he's a fiery guy.
49:09He's a Gruden grinder.
49:11I just love the juice he brings to the game.
49:14And I think he's got first-round talent.
49:16He's going to get a chance to prove it today.
49:18It's one thing to watch these guys throw on film, but it's another thing to see them throw
49:22it live.
49:23I think a couple of these drills are really going to help these guys get better.
49:28And if they can get 1% better, man, it makes them feel nice.
49:31This guy can play right here, Dart.
49:50You ever see this guy on game day?
49:54He comes out, he looks like a freaking, I don't know, like Kiss.
49:57You ever see the band?
49:59It's like Gene Simmons playing quarterback.
50:02All right, here we go.
50:02Let's get something going there.
50:04Real quick, let's get on the bags.
50:05Here we go, Jackson.
50:06Let's get on the bags.
50:07To your right.
50:09To your left.
50:11There it is.
50:12Good.
50:12Good.
50:12Good.
50:13Everybody back up three yards.
50:15Let's move our ass now.
50:16Let's fucking go.
50:17Let's go.
50:17Get quicker.
50:18Envision moving laterally.
50:21There's congestion in the pocket.
50:23Go.
50:23To your right.
50:24Back to your left.
50:25To your right.
50:27Very nice.
50:28Good, Jackson.
50:28That's excellent right there.
50:29Good.
50:30Huddle up.
50:31Snug right.
